Lots of deer in the southern units (36 A, B and C) and lots of left over tags down there, but you have to be willing to put up with the illegal immigration problem. Units 29 and 32 are nice too. Check out the statistics for the units in the Hunt Arizona book put out by AGFD, they have a downloadable PDF on their website.

Yes, that dog was my old Molly....she died several years ago. But she liked to walk by there and go sit on the wall and watch the neighbors dogs and kids. The kieds would give her treats sometimes

Could be? The beak is kind of curved? Curve-billed thrasher There maybe a cactus wren in there too, I would have to watch it again. I will wait awhile so people can watch it and come up with their own list before I post the actual. nontypical, you did pretty good, but I believe there are more than that. the red-headed sparrows are actually called House Finches the big black bird you saw is a great-tailed grackle and yes there were some cardinals there is no road runner....not sure which one you thought was that one...maybe the curve-bille thrasher and the yellow birds are the lesser golfinches

I think the biggest buck I have passed on was a 108 in mexico. But then I was looking to get a 110 or larger and we figured we could do it. I think I have pic of him somewhere, or maybe video. In Arizona, I will generally pass on bucks less than 100, but that's not always the case, as evidenced by me killing a 2 pt yesterday!

You could try feeding differently.....I don't feed sparrows and such because many of them are non-native species and I don't like to help them out. So I just use a thistle feeder which will be most attractive to golfinches and some house finches. The goldfinches are pretty birds and they feed by climbing on the feeder and picking the tiny seeds out. Most other birds can't do that, so you limit what you are feeding. Quail and morning doves can still feed on some of the seed that falls out. Thistle seed is expensive, but you don't go through as much because you are limiting what you are feeding. here is a video I made awhile back showing some of my backyard birds...towards the end you can see the copper thistle feeder I use and the finches going to town on it. for those that like bird watching....see how many birds you can identify in this fast paces video. the birds in the beginning of the video are feeding on the thistle seed that has fallen on the ground under the feeder. at about 1 min 36 seconds you can see the thistle feeder and finches briefly. I just killed this buck yesterday....the smallest I have ever killed, but I am happy! I hunted about 3 days and didn't get a chance at a couple monster bucks we were after, so I decided I would rather have some venison than go home empty handed. This buck just presented a perfect shot opportunity on the last morning of the hunt, so I took him. We had fresh deer liver for lunch yesterday! Awesome!

Long Range Dink 1,243 yards
CouesWhitetail replied to STOMP442's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congratulations Clinton!! For people that put in as much time as you at the range, this shot seems reasonable. Personally, I don't have the skills or the gun set-up to do that. But as long as people shoot within their abilities and it's a safe shot, why not? So many deer are wounded at shorter distances, that it seems to me distance isn't the issue. The issue is knowing what you and your gun are capable of to pull of a clean kill. -

cool pics. It's not a young hawk, but an adult Cooper's Hawk or perhaps a Sharp-shinned hawk. They are very similar with the Cooper's being larger and very common in urban areas. U of A has several of them banded in Tucson to study how they use the urban environment. As has been mentioned, they specialize in feeding on birds.
