Final wording for the Bait Ban
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
might be a dumb question but this is what i dont understand if it's pure salt, it's fine. If there are additives like other minerals or attractants, then it has to be designed for livestock industry. A mineral block is different from a salt block. I think the intent of this wording is to not allow things like deer cane or other products with additives designed to specifically attract deer. Maybe Brian will come and clarify. thanks amanda i just think the two sentances contradict themselves just because The rule specific exempts salt. It doesn't say that salt has to be for the livestock industry, but any type of salt is ok. If it is table salt, it is salt. If it is water softener salt, it is salt. If it is a salt-based product, then it has to be manufactored for the livestock industry. Mineral licks fall into this category. mineral licks are designed for the livestock industry such as trace mineral thats what i am trying to understand I don't understand your confusion. Mineral blocks would be allowed because they are designed for the livestock industry. Mineral blocks are considered a "salt-based" product, not pure salt. Anything that is salt-based but not pure salt must be designed for the livestock industry. If it is, then you can use it. -
Help a young girl get a service dog

Also, if you make the donation directly to AZ Power Paws in Savannah's name, then the money goes directly to the non-profit but will help the family reach their goal. That's probably the safest way to donate. I spoke with Jay last night and he said they have already set up that any extra money above what is needed will be donated to the organization to specifially help another child. Jay is organizing some fundraising activities through his gym and so if you want to do an event rather than just donate, there is that option. I believe Channel 3 is going to do a feature about this case tomorrow morning. Also, if anyone wants to contact the family directly, please email me and I will give you their phone numbers so you can speak directly to them and ask any questions you like. -
Help a young girl get a service dog
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in The Campfire
just an fyi, I called the service dog agency they are using (az power paws) and asked about the process for a family to get a dog. Anyone else here can call them and do the same. They do indeed charge for the dogs. They charge the family $6,000 of the estimated $22,000 that it takes to raise and train the dogs. The rest is covered by the organization's fundraising as a non-profit. The family is required to make the $6,000 payment after a fairly lengthy approval process (which includes interviews with family, friends, and doctor) and before the child starts a two week "boot camp" with the dog. During the approval process, the organization requires the child and family to prove the need for the dog and has them comeback about every 6-8 weeks to see how the condition/need has changed. They require the child and family to spend time at the facility to see which dogs are best matched with them. Once they get a dog that seems to be a match, then they do the two week boot camp (mostly to train the child about the dog, since the dog is trained). I also confirmed that this organization is accredited by Assistance Dogs International. here is a link for that: http://www.assistancedogsinternational.org/location/arizona/ -

I am sure it can be a family dog and still hunt. Hunting is what they want to do, whether they sleep in a kennel or in a home. I am sure you can train it to track a blood trail, however, there are some legal issues with this that you should discuss with AGFD first. As I understand it, it's illegal to take a deer with the aid of a dog and if you are trailing a wounded deer with a dog and it's not dead when you catch up to it, then perhaps you would be violating a law? I don't know for sure, ask AGFD.

Final wording for the Bait Ban
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Clay, I think it applies to all Big Game. AGFD defines big game as Big Game: Any of the following species: mule deer, white-tailed deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, turkey, javelina, bear, bighorn sheep, buffalo and mountain lion. -

there you go!! -
I am going to close this topic since you have a duplicate going in the campfire section and it has more replies. Please don't open multiple threads with the same questions, it gets confusing and redundant. here is a link to your other thread, let's try and keep the info organized into one thread please http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/37674-whats-going-on-with-the-azgfd/?do=findComment&comment=354524

Excellent!!

As long as you don't touch the meat with your hands while skinning, the meat should be excellent. But if you touch the hide and then touch the meat, you can transfer some of their musky smell to the meat and you will be in trouble. Skinning the javelina without getting any scent on the meat is key to making sure the meat is enjoyable. I haven't had any javelina that weren't good eating.
