Hey Congrats to your dad and to you for having a successful hunt even though you didn't get one. I know you guys put in a lot of days of hunting and I am sure you learned a lot while doing it, so next time you get drawn will be even better. I am so glad the decoy helped out! How great that you had three generations out on this hunt

July 21st Get-Together at Gila Outdoor in Safford - GIANT BUCKS!
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
Sponsor Gila Outdoor is holding a 1st anniversary event on July 21st in Safford and we are combining to make it a CouesWhitetail.com Get-Together. I will be there selling tshirts and other items. We will have food available and we will be doing a Guess the Score contest on a phenomenal buck taken in 1960 by Dan Mckaskle in the Santa Ritas. Top three guessers will win some great prizes including a Manfrotto Tripod, Covert Extreme Red40 trail camera and a Havalon Knife. You can only enter a guess at the store, so you have to show up on the 21st to enter to win. Anyone wearing a CouesWhitetail.com hat, tshirt, or sporting a CouesWhitetail.com sticker on their truck will get a FREE TECHNO HUNT at the archery range. The techno hunt is an awesome experience where you get to shoot at real footage of animals such as deer, elk and even Africa animals and the system tracks your arrow shot, fps and score so you can shoot against your friends. You shoot at a big screen with your own bow and arrows with special tips provided by Gila Outdoor. Gila Outdoor in Thatcher, AZ is a 20,000 square foot retail store specializing in archery equipment and other outdoor related gear (optics, backpacks, camo, etc). They have filled the store with some AMAZING elk, mule deer and Coues Deer mounts. You just won't believe the number of giant bucks they have in the store. here are pics and info on the buck we will be using for the Guess the Score contest. So come on out July 21 and help one of our sponsors celebrate their 1 year anniversary of providing great service to Arizona hunters! Gila Outdoor 3660 W Main Street Thatcher, AZ 85552 -

Fire Restrictions on Coconino and Kaibab NF
CouesWhitetail replied to Red Rabbit's topic in The Campfire
+10000! I keep recommending tighter restrictions for the holiday weekend to the USFS, but they always just go in stages and want to allow the public to have campfires over the holiday. Scares me to death! Fyi, Coronado goes into fire restrictions on Wed also. -
Beautiful!

Brother shoots sibling in Arizona hunting accident
CouesWhitetail replied to down2hunt's topic in The Campfire
We will pray for his full recovery....thanks for the information Ybranch, it's tragic for sure. -
I have elk hunted solo a fair amount, but haven't had to pack one out by myself. You can always hunt solo yet have some friends that are willing to come help pack it out if you get one down. Or maybe pay someone with horses to pack it out after you kill. SPOT messenger system is a good one for extra safety. It can send msgs to your family that you are OK and it can also summon emergency medical help.

Canine Teeth in Coues Deer????
CouesWhitetail replied to WildHeritageTaxidermy's topic in Coues Biology
It's not common, but also not extremely rare either.....I think Jim Heffelfinger might have a percentage estimate in his book about SW deer. -
Awesome!! That's great that he is showing so much interest and improving fast! Nothing better than a kid's excitement!
