    self inflating sleeping pads

I have used Thermarests for years....seem very durable to me. I have smaller ones for backpacking and larger ones for tent or car camping. One extra bonus of an inflatable pad is that you can use it to float down a river like I did! I even upgraded to a super luxurious one with a foam pad on it, but that thing is a beast and takes up a lot of room when packing. But it's super nice! It's called the DreamTime XL.

    Buffalo Hunts

One of the most experienced buffalo guides in the state and a sponsor of this site is Lance Crowther of Timberland outfitters. Give him a call and see what he can do for you. I would hire him if I had a buffalo hunt! Not sure what he knows about buffalo out of state. http://www.tlohunting.com/

This post is for the dogs

We got this one of Julie after scouting out a route into an area we needed to survey for owls. She is always finding bones of animals on every walk we take her on! Love this dog!

    OE4A

It was GREAT fun! Thanks to everyone for supporting such a worthy cause! As always, it was an emotional evening where we remember the reasons why were are there and remember the children that have passed on since they started in this program. And they had a great motivational speaker who was a military veteran who had both legs and an arm blown off when he stepped on a mine. Wow, what an amazing gentleman. Many thanks to Eddy and Chris and all the OE4A volunteers for keeping this group going strong!!

    Need a Good Hunting Boot

I had never heard of them before going to REI. And out of all the boots they had, I was sure I wouldn't want that one based on the way it looked, but after I tried it on, it was a whole different ball game. I was very skeptical, but am super happy I decided to give the Quests a chance.

    Need a Good Hunting Boot

+1 on the Salomon Quest boots!! These are super comfortable and lightweight and great traction. I have worn Danner, Kenetreks, Merrels and they all wear out within a year (but I hike for a living as a biologist, so I wear out boots faster than most). I loved the old Danner pronghorns, but the new version I didn't like at all. They were too heavy and actually hurt my feet. The kenetreks are super solid construction with outstanding support, but as someone else mentioned, I felt like I was walking in heels, just too tall a heel for me. But this year after searching Bass Pro, Cabela's, Sportsmans, and more, I finally went to REI and tried what they had. They had a bunch of well reviewed boots, but the one that was instantly comfortable was the Salomon Quest. You might want to try that boot on. It's kind of ugly, but I love them! In fact I bought an extra pair today....because it seems when I fall in love with a boot, they stop making them! But they are on sale and so I got an extra pair.

    Advice for fixing swamp cooler

Thanks for all the advice guys! It's been working fine all day since I fixed it. I haven't added the Loctite but it's still holding anyway. Since it's working fine now I didn't want to take it apart. If the pulley falls off again, I will Loctite it and I imagine that will solve the problem.

    Advice for fixing swamp cooler

Our evaporative cooler has been a real pain this year. If it's not the copper tubing leaking it's the pulley falling off. I can't seem to figure out how to keep the pulley from falling off. It's done this before and we just keep putting the slider bar back in and tightening the set screw. Sometimes it holds sometimes it doesn't. I bought a new bar and set screw today and it still fell apart about a minute after turning it on. I put it all back together and it's working now, but I am looking for any kind of tricks of the trade that someone might know to keep the bar from falling out and therefore causing the pulley to fall off. Hopefully you guys know what parts I am talking about. The people at Ace Hardware said I am doing it all correctly, but dang it, I want a permanent fix. I am afraid to use locktite or glue of some kind in case we really need to take the thing apart some time.

    Our fallen comrades...

Oh and just to make sure no one misinterprets what I was trying to say above, let me clarify my comment. I fully support the honors and praise being laid on these 19 brave men that lost their lives, but I worry that we get a little complacent about the military personnel dying everyday for our country. I wish EVERYONE who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country (military) or our property (firefighters) or our safety (police) or even our wildlife (AGFD agents) received the same level of honor. I think it is so important to remember the sacrifices made for us. The loss of these young men makes my heart bleed as does the loss of our brave military. As I said before....God Bless them all and their families.
