You really should reconsider. I appreciate your posts!

We lost one of our longtime forum members to suicide a few years ago. It still haunts me to this day. And our military members are suffering greatly with high suicide rates. This is a great cause to help and I encourage everyone to donate whatever they can or help with the walk.

Lost Bull Found!!!! Can't beat a Bloodhounds nose!!
CouesWhitetail replied to WildHeritageTaxidermy's topic in Elk Hunting
Awesome! I believe it's legal to use a dog to track to a dead animal. But I think there is a problem with carrying a weapon while tracking the animal because then you are using the dog to aide in take if you find the animal alive and put a killing shot on it. Did you get any clarification like that from the WM? would be nice to share with everyone- 29 replies

Ok guys, I think this topic has run it's course. Loren tells me that the buck was killed legally. And we aren't going to solve the case here in the forum. If anyone feels strongly that AGFD should be investigating this one, contact AGFD directly. I am going to lock the thread for now so we can move on...... Guess we won't make it to 20 pages....sorry muledeerarea33?....it was a valiant try

Gavin got this very unique bull in Unit 27. 85 yard shot.....9200 feet elevation! For those that don't know Gavin, he and his dad run Weller's Wildlife Studio, a great taxidermy shop and sponsor for many years here! (sorry for the small pic, I think it's from a phone and it's all he sent me)

I suspect you are correct about the toad causing the poisoning, but the other thing to think about is to make sure you don't have any antifreeze or pesticides or something like that out and available to the dogs accidentally. Dogs can be attracted to antifreeze but if they drink it, it causes the same symptoms as toad poisoning. The toads are only out a few weeks out of the year, but it's easy to forget about the other hazards that dogs can get into. I worry about this because people (neighbors) sometimes just pour antifreeze and other toxic stuff on the ground and dogs can stumble upon it accidentally.

Outstanding! Way to go! Love all the photos! -
Lance sent me this pic of his hunter's elk. The hunter's name is Karl Arbogast and sponsor Timberland Outfitters just helped him arrow his first ever elk. The bull is from Unit 27. If you are looking for an outfitter for any type of big game hunt.....check out Timberland Outfitters.

Wow, that's terrible. I am so sorry for you and your dog. What a loss. Unfortunately, we can't protect our dogs from everything. At least your dog had a great life with you. In the future, you might be able to put up an area with chicken wire that will maintain a place for the dogs to be outside, but the toads can't get in. You might also talk to a vet and find out if there is some sort of treatment you can keep on hand that you can give immediately when they get into trouble.
