Wapiti Wednesday. "Kickstand" says to get those elk applications in by next Tuesday to AZGFD.

After many years of being due on the second Tuesday, the deadline is indeed sneaky.

I’d hunt bait if it was legal. I’m upset they changed it. I have no moral problem with bait. I’m out here trying to kill stuff so I can eat it, not see how difficult I can make my life. I killed my first bull on bait. I also fish with worms.

Pretty sure the real JohnSWA got his account hacked. @stanley could probably look into this. No one here, says they are from Phoenix, Az Also, it's not uncommon for people scammers to write their name on a paper to appear to be legit. I got scammed like this a couple years ago on a pair of Kaibabs. If the guy is actually meeting up face to face, cool, but my guess is this is actually a scam post.

Small sample size, but the results of this poll fall more in line with what I was thinking. There are not droves of dinks getting shot over water. No doubt it happens, but not really an issue. The real issue was not actually knowing how many deer were being killed OTC for so long. Hopefully we can reverse the trend of declining #'s, but I do not think it will be easy or quick. AZGFD dropped the ball big time by not requiring reporting. Now we only require it on some hunts or animals. Seems dumb and should be required for all Big game, with penalties if you fail to. I would love to see a way to have a physical check station or a requirement to send in a picture with tag punched on said animal. Stiff penalties if you get caught trying to photoshop or lie. Anyone that has ever sat water knows that despite what MC68 says, it is not a slam dunk. Animals go nocturnal or have multiple water sources they utilize. Trail cam ban made sitting water less effective in my opinion. You used to be able to set cameras up on the sources you knew about and narrow it down to which one was more probable. Now, you gotta sit and hope you picked right. I know guys who have tried to kill certain bucks on water and days upon weeks of sitting netted 0 results.

Hey wait a minute! Wait one stinking minute! How do we know this is the real SpotNstalk? What is the name of your cousin’s little sister’s aunt Chela’s baby brother?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the goal to fill the tag? Even with "lots of people killing animals on water", the stats show that many unit (archery elk for instance) success rates in the high 20 to 30%, with some much lower. That's not "lots"in my book.

So people that enjoy hunting but are getting older and can't spot and stalk like they used to have to give it up all together? Because I know a handful of old timers that have few options besides sitting. Hunters are their own worst enemies. I don't agree with how others hunt so I will support banning it... SMDH.

Talked to federal engineer (not salesman) at Shot as well as RCBS and Seekins rifles. Very interesting, rcbs will have dies soon (neck size ) and Seekins is swapping their entire rifle line over to new design bolt and action for these types of cartridges. The new Seekins is really cool 3 lug 60 degree throw. Easy barrel swap design. I believe tool less takedown on bolt. the cases don’t show movement in the body after firing so neck size is all that’s needed. (No data on case life) round prefers a 5 groove bore at 1:8 Less powder is expected to equate to decent barrel life ammo is now available ( recieved 20 boxes 175 terminal)msrp 59.99 Even more fun, 338 ARC

Just leave it as a quota like it is now and maybe decrease the numbers the following year if a unit gets hammered way over quota. They have to be getting better data on the general hunts with the e-tags now I would think.

Unfortunately, Macie is not for sale. If I got rid of her, her little brother would run around unchecked!

I agree brother but antler restrictions IMO would be disastrous. People will still shoot dinks, bury them after going oops and keep hunting. Very few instances of antler restrictions have solved a problem. Ever. Unfortunately....

The seven guys that backpack, shoot 5 lb rifles and don't reload are going to be super pumped about this. I predict this is obsolete in 2 years or less.

A few years back I had a archery cow Elk tag in 6a. So I'm sitting in my ground blind one evening reading my paperback book and glancing up and around every few minutes. After about two hours of seeing nothing, I look up to see a nice cow standing broadside at about 20 yards. How she got there only the Man upstairs knows. But probably confirms my wife's belief that my hearing has suffered from too much exploding gunpowder. I lay down my book pick up my longbow and now see a calf nursing from the cow! I could not do it! They both walked off shortly thereafter. After reviewing this scene hundreds of times in my mind, I've come to the same conclusion; I don't need the meat that bad. I would pass up the shot today.
