I sat one of my favorite waters till 11:30. Only saw one doe and a turkey that did laps around it for 4 hours. Decided to take my chair and lunch back to the truck and check another water that’s about a mile back from that one. I began to walk it and saw a doe walking through the real thick stuff about 35 yards away. She started squatting and throwing her tail up like estrus does do, so I figured she had a buck with her. I set up where I had a shooting lane if there was a buck that took the same path, and sure enough he did. There were really tight windows so only real good shot I had was a touch more forward than I like, but at 35 yards I knew I could do it. I let it fly and he dropped right there. As I was taking pictures I had another smaller buck almost run me over going down the same trail as the doe. They are fired up down here at-least. He was about 6000ft elevation and I’m right off the border. Good luck and I hope you guys start seeing more action!

Just finished up this bull for a client - Ive never seen blonde stripes in velvet before - this was the main one but the same shape and pattern went up the brow time about 4 times , getting fainter and fainter as it went up towards the tip .

Just speaking for Rosy lake, but the bass are on a really good bite now on crawfish. So look for areas that they would be- rocks and such and fish down were they are. Rubeer worm, jigs etc, might catch a new state record. But bundle up its cold out there. If you happen to snag a white johnny morris rod and reel with a swimbait on it over by school house launch its mine, a reply would be appreciated.

I’m old enough to remember OTC rifle deer tags. Just a handful of years ago desert rifle deer tags used to be a sure thing with two bonus points.. I have friends and family needing 3-4 now. I don’t have the time to wait that long. I likely am done if I don’t draw this year.

Bass fishing has been outstanding at Roosevelt with a mild winter and 70 percent water level. Mid 50s surface temp is crazy for this time of year. This front that has been going through is going to change a bunch of things, they will be in the same places but a little deeper. Rosey has been fishing really good. Go get em.

It seems the only fair thing to do would be to get rid of OTC tags completely or go back to string and stick bows, recurve or longbow only. 20-40 yard shots. You can still use your compound bow during Ham hunts, rifle hunts or muzzleloader hunts. Just not in primitive weapon hunts. Be careful giving preference to one group that is shooting non-primitive weapons over. How can you defend modern compound bows with 80 to 90% let-off and condemn crossbows that someone followed the protocol and got approved? And then lets move on to muzzleloaders. No more in-line, no more optics. Then move on to GPS, OnX and radios.
