This year was a year to remember. Its kind of a long story but I'll try to condense it up a little bit. I posted this on MM so some of you I'm sure have read it. In May I unexpectedly spent 10 days in the Neuro ICU in Mesa with bleeding on my brain. It came out of nowhere and thankfully stopped on its own. After a bunch of tests and some pretty significant pain and a terribly long recovery I'm doing great. No lingering pain or problems at all. I didn't think I was going to get to hunt at all, but thankfully I got out. Saw some pretty dang good bucks and happened to run into this buck. I made an absolute horrible shot (he either started to run or jumped the string or both right when I shot) Cousin took the live pictures.

Whatever it takes to get the hunt I want. I haven’t missed a September chasing bulls since 2001. That’s all I need. Some times I get 2 mornings. Sometimes I get a week. But as long is get out in September

Generally, when it's a dry winter it's a really wet late spring. This could be one of those times with perfectly timed rain.

My buddy set us up for a trip down to Ol Mx and I'm getting pretty excited to catch some big bass. The older I get the more I'm getting back into fishing. It is much easier physically than hiking the mountains. Haha.

Just speaking for Rosy lake, but the bass are on a really good bite now on crawfish. So look for areas that they would be- rocks and such and fish down were they are. Rubeer worm, jigs etc, might catch a new state record. But bundle up its cold out there. If you happen to snag a white johnny morris rod and reel with a swimbait on it over by school house launch its mine, a reply would be appreciated.

If the bulls aren’t screaming hunting a trophy unit what is the point, then it’s just deer hunting basically. Boring

it’s pretty well documented over the last 10 years with social media and guys taking the game more serious that moisture does in fact play a major role in the size of the elk racks. It’s AZ, there will be some big bulls killed no matter what

Ya fun stuff either way. I’m ready if it takes off and guys want chambers.

Man I sure hope so. We have had a terrible monsoon and now into the winter. We are way overdue for some moisture.

If the fact that their digiscoping adapters suck wasn’t enough to stop buying them, this should! I actually can’t believe they’re still in business?

Well, I decided to avoid the season opening crowd, and went out to 20c to my favorite spot today. Spent a couple hours glassing..nothing. Started getting windy so I headed down into a sheltered area where I have seen them crossing through in past hunts. Less than 10 minutes after setting up, I heard footsteps in the leaves-lots of cottonwoods around, and 5 came through. I took a shot at the last one at 20 yards and my hunt was over. Got to have an easy hunt once in awhile.

I would suggest looking at the north east units. Most of them take 3 or so points to draw in the regular draw and are guaranteed tags in the special draw. Also you can put the high point tag first choice and the easy one second in the draw and still build points. You are not going to drive around looking over a ton of antelope to choose from but you will definitely have opportunities on multiple bucks. My strategy in those units is look for large sections of land with limited access. If you can find sections that require some good hiking to get into, it will eliminate 95% of the competition. Here is a quick example I found. Hunt area 22, a unit I've never hunted. This big section is over 10 square miles with legal access from only one county road. It's a 2 mile hike just to get into the upper section.

I didn't count but I bet I was north of 30 for the summer. Only one we killed was 6'1 without the head
