This is super popular back east where I grew up and it's super tasty. Serve cold with cheese and crackers or with pretzels. I like mine in a little hot mustard. This is the Cabela's version but I think I'm gonna try the bearded butchers blend next time. I highly recommend you guys give it a whirl. Only so much smoke penatrates the casing, I'd highly suggest adding a bit of liquid smoke in with the seasonings.

People usually bitch about the cost of tamales until they make em themselves!

For a good tamale that’s about the right price. Before my dad passed, our family tradition in the fall was to make real green corn tamales. Homemade ground white corn masa, roasted, skinned and seeded green chile and cheese. For the work involved, I’d have to get $60 a dozen. I mean just to grind and make the masa was a ton of work!

Might explain what I saw during elk season in unit 8. Just turned off the 9 rd onto 139. Couple trucks along rd. Could see guys in woods, coming back to truck. Looked to be carrying 22 auto rifle. All asain total 4 I could see. Guessin squirrel hunting. The next 8 vechiles, trucks, quads, side-by-side I passed were full of asains.they where on every side rd. for miles. Seemed weird to me. I hunted 8 for yrs. It was first to see that many Asians. Everyone in full camo

I personally just don’t think they’re worth it either way. That’s all. Rather have a taco. But that’s just me. we got some in rocky point a few months ago, trash. my captain in puerto lobos family makes shrimp tamales, really good.

I haven’t had good tamales for about 8 years now. Skimp and dry for most. Tamale hustlers want to make margin, so they skimp on filling. Especially with current grocery prices. I do love me some light masa tamales made with lard and no olive pits.

Luckily my wife and mom makes them. But if you want some decent ones the carneceria in Mammoth are/were good. Also the carneceria in Tucson on Valencia and Houghton (Mr. Toro) are pretty good. Sorry I know this thread is for Phoenix.

That’s the problem, you spend $30 on a dozen and the theyre skimp with an olive pit in the middle smfh. Need to be referred to the good ones

dang! They're that much these days? Heck I used to buy them from a couple up in Heber for $15 a dozen, but that's been 6 years ago or so. Had no idea they went up that much. But they're a ton of work to make, and I do love me some good ones. Looks like I'll have to beat the streets.

because it’s just a money grab for azgfd and outfitter advertising animals drink from ranchers tanks more than anything. Good amount of the older azgfd drinkers don’t work and many that do hardly get any big game to hit them As far as not having near the animals, there was recently a thread and posters chimed in saying hunting was better years ago
