As a new hunter you probably don’t have any idea the hornets nest you just stepped into. 1. People spend their entire lives hunting and learning country and finding out the logistics of the when and where and why certain areas are productive. That information is hard earned with sweat, blood, fuel and time. So people aren’t likely to give that information away easily. 2. Unlike other outdoor recreation, an increase in the popularity of hunting has a direct negative impact on those already participating. This is especially true of hunts that have no limit on participation, like otc hunts. Every person that joins the sport is one more I have to compete with for a limited resource. 3. OTC archery deer is a particularly sore subject in this state. The number of otc tags sold has skyrocketed since 2020. Which also overlapped with a game and fish sponsored media campaign where they paid influencers to come to AZ and film hunts and talk about them on their podcasts. That increase in tag sales, and subsequent harvests has lead to a decline in opportunity with several units being moved from otc to a draw and the implementation of mandatory harvest reporting and harvest limits. Simply put, hunting opportunity is declining and interest is increasing. OTC archery is at the center of this debate in AZ right now. None of this is your fault, but you also have to understand where these dudes on here are coming from. They’ve seen one opportunity after another drift away into the sunset and it’s left scar tissue. In terms of your original question, you are in a good spot for what you want. Get some bino’s on a tripod, start looking for deer. When you find one you like, sneak until you are close enough to make the shot, then do it. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Includes: 1) The carbine itself with the stock 2) 7-30 Waters Thomas barrel- this is a 30-30 necked to 7mm. 7mm-08 but OG and way more cool 3) .358 Winchester D A Van Horn barrel - 308 but necked up to 358. it's bad-butt 4/5) Two scope mounts- one is a rail, one is a 1-piece with rings 6/7) Die set for both calibers Etc: Bullets for both bores. Two of the 7mm boxes are almost empty (20%) but the rest are full or close to it. I also have some brass for the 730 waters (free) and factory ammo @ 30$/box Hard to price these but I'm starting w/ $1200 OBO for the package, quick sale based on what I'm seeing on gunbroker. I'm in North PHX near the sportsmans. Buy it before I change my mind- it's maybe too pretty to part w/

I'll take a look at other bullet manufacturers and see what is close. I'm already shooting magnum primers. I'm aware that your load data will not work in my rifel as mine won't work for yours. Just looking for a starting point from a safety aspect. N560 is close to N565 but there is little to no data for a lighter bullet out of a 7 rem.

I’ve had two VX6’s that wouldn’t return to zero. I won’t own another. Euro optic had 3-18 Schmidt and Bender metas on sale then other day for $1999. Best scope on the market and a competitive price to the others. Of the two you listed I’d go Steiner in a heartbeat.

    I have a 300 Weatherby that weighs 5lb 4oz. There's no way I'd put a 30 oz scope on it. It's has a VX6 on it. I've never had a Leupold fail me. Just lucky I guess.

Had a great hunt this past week. Was able to be joined by my oldest son and we were guided by Dillon the owner at Chasin the King outfitters. I’ve hunted with Dillion before and I can’t say enough about Dillion and his crew. Not only is he an expert at his craft but he’s one on the most knowledgeable guys I’ve met on the plant life, and the history of the area you’re hunting. If you want to know the name and details of each shrub or tree he’ll bend your ear. If you’re fortunate enough to work with Dillion be ready to work. He’ll push you to the limit but keep you laughing as you climb up and down each canyon.

God continues to bless me, and today was no different! Unit 34a was scheduled to close today at sundown, so I headed down for the final day in hopes of killing a big ole bruin, but just happy to be outdoors! I had never killed a bear with a rifle (3 with bow and one with handgun) so I decided to take the old 30/30 lever action out for a try. This big ole bruin walked out right before sunset and presented himself at 42 yds. 1 shot from the old lever action and he tumbled into the gulch below, but he wasn't done as he reared up and began to come straight for my tree stand! 2 quick shots put a end to that and then the work begun! this bear stood nearly 4ft high as he walked in, a monster of a bear ( maybe some Mexican Griz DNA in him). I was a little nervous as I walked up to him, because he was so big! The pack out sucked! I hurt everywhere now! We green scored the skull at 20.5" tonight! Amazing day for a last day of the hunt! I think I'm done bear hunting! Too old for this stuff! lol. Truly Blessed!
