Please do not wait if you have not signed up for an absentee ballot. Today’s the last day to request an absentee ballot. . Please cast your vote early. Only two weeks away to support the things we believe in. It’s not too late, and if you wait life has a way of getting busy on us. Hunting, family commitments, etc. Please vote our kids and grandkids will thank us some day.. Thanks Phil

Can someone tell me why the AZGFD has hired a third party service to facilitate the call in program for harvest reporting? I called to check on a bear unit.....get an automated prompt then a long wait, followed by an answer from some lady that just woke up and was in her living room in Massachusetts. She had no idea about the reporting process or if the unit I was checking on was going to re open for the next hunt. Why cant we keep this program in our state, with people that know what's going on.

Did anyone else just come off a funky/crappy cow hunt? My friends and I came home Wednesday after hunting pretty hard for cow elk. The season was really bad. Normally we see a fair amount of elk and have had no problem filling tags or at least getting opportunities. Opening morning is rained and got super cold, but it had been crazy hot until then. I assumed the elk would still be where we saw them 2-3 weeks ago on my buddies bull hunt. On that hunt it was hit, but we saw elk every day and cows were around. This hunt the elk seemed to have disappeared or were being nocturnal. Did the crazy weather and full moon screw up this hunt for anyone else?

The moon definitely has an effect on what they can see . That will change when they feed and water. Seems it went to 💩 with the weather. I was in 6a for my buddies archery hunt and they filled 5 tags from Friday to Monday when I left . Then I was back a few weeks later for my turkey tag and the elk were still around just not as vocal. Deer were out most days and easy to find. Weird year for elk I guess. Hopefully next year I'll get a tag and it will be better 🙏.

Maybe it wasn't just me then. I hear people talk about how full moons don't effect hunts, but I think that is BS. I fully believe that they were watering before dawn and just after dark, at least where I was.

2 decent bucks from what I could tell. Nothing huge, but both bigger than the mulie in my avatar and bigger than anything I’ve killed. I’ve tried to get them in touch with Adam but not sure they’ve been able.

It was a tough year. Had an archery cow tag, hunted for 8 days had a few opportunities but it was hot. I should've got one tho. Hunted for 6.5 days on my daughters Jr. Cow tag. We only seen elk 3 mornings for about 5 min after first light. I think the hot weather and no rain are main factors..........

A friends daughter had a cow tag and they hunted three days and never saw one. All I know is they were up near Heber. I squirrel hunted 5A on Sunday with my son and saw two cows and a spike and that was it. They were about 150 yards away on a hill when we got out of the truck. The spike ran off but the cows hung around for a few minutes and weren't very concerned.

Hunted high and low in 9 for 6 and a half days and only saw a young cow (maybe 1.5 year old) Saturday afternoon that I passed on. First time not filling a cow tag in 9 in over a decade. Drove through the GCNP Tuesday morning and saw a herd of 30-50 at Yaki point turnoff. Saw small groups the Wed. and Thu. before the hunt, then the weather turned cold and wet Friday morning. Talked to a few people that had cows down, but there were still a lot of people hunting Wednesday.

My buddies daughter in law had the 4a hunt and never really got a go at it. There trailer needed tires then the truck had a vibration that turned out to be a major suspension issue. After all that they only got a day to hunt and same deal crazy weather and no elk . What a big change from the archery hunt. Elk were out and easy to find even with the bulls not talking that much. Gotta be the weather change.

Well Richard wasn’t able to do it tonight. Said he’d get to it in the next few days . That guy has some amazing mounts in his house.

I can't speak directly to FPS loss but we own a couple of the ULs (6.5 prc 24" and 280ai 22") and bought a KLYM in 7prc 22" https://savagearms.com/firearms/model/110-klym last year that starting to really like. I have handled and shot the UL elite and handles very well and shoots as good as any of my ULs and if by far the the lightest thing I have shot. I jumped on the KLYM before I handled the UL Elite and might have done it differently had I waited but am liking that KLYM quite a bit. My opinion on the short barrel is essentially - If you go with the 7prc you are getting 7rem mag performance without having to carry 4-6" of extra barrel and weight. Pretty sure the animal won't know the difference and why carry the length and weight. Is it a few more clicks if shooting side by side - for sure but so what when you take 1/2 lb or more off that front end and don't have to unsling/unpack/walk like a U to go under mesquites.. That's the advantage of the new rounds/loads to me. Again, just an opinion there
