I've been hunting 6b for the past week and finally was able to connect on a cow elk last night at sundown sitting water. She came in broadside at 47 yards and i let it fly. I followed the blood as far as I could follow then it stopped. Came back this morning for recovery and found her. Wish I saw her earlier because I think it may have been too long and now the meat is spoiled. But a great journey and happy to record this as a first elk and archery kill. Thank you to everyone who gave me advice to make this happen over the last few months.

Since I was recently in Estes Park, Colorado for an art show, a few days before and after the show were spent in Rocky Mountain National Park photographing the rutting elk. Sometimes the elk cooperated and were close, and other times the bulls and their harems were too far away in the middle of Moraine Park. The Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 adapted to the Fuji GFX 100s was used. Many of the images suffered from often having to use a high ISO of 6400, but the Denoise in ACR did a reasonable job on mitigation. More images may be seen on the website. https://www.plateaulightphotography.com/New-Work/Rocky-Mountain-National-Park

My cousin has owned this truck since new, 1994. She has garage kept it, and rarely used it. I have wanted it for 25 years. Last time when I asked her about it, she said yes! So, I bought a dog box for the pup, and she brought it down. Doing some work, mainly maintenence but either way I am super pumped to have it. My son will get it when he is 16. Pretty sweet truck, 1994 V6, 5 speed 4x4 toyota with only 123k on it!

I was given permission to metal detect in an abandoned mining camp yesterday. Mostly tin cans and broken bottles were dug up but I did find one intact perfume bottle. I started finding where the crucibles from the assessors office were tossed and was hoping to find an intact one when I hit a good target. Wasn't attracted to a magnet, nor was the oxidation and crust rusty at all. Too big to be a coin and weighs exactly 2toz. Put it in acid and vinegar overnight. Tests out .925 silver. Why was it there in a 19th century dump? It's obviously been poured into a crude mold or crucible. Could the crucible have been tossed out with the silver still in it? Normally the crucibles are crushed and reran through the smeltering process because 100% of the mineral content is not poured out, leaving small amounts of precious metals behind. However it got there, this mine produced 250000 ounces of silver in its day. I can now account for two of those ounces.

because it’s just a money grab for azgfd and outfitter advertising animals drink from ranchers tanks more than anything. Good amount of the older azgfd drinkers don’t work and many that do hardly get any big game to hit them As far as not having near the animals, there was recently a thread and posters chimed in saying hunting was better years ago

Over the many decades of reloading I have settled on using a RCBS partner press with a universal de capping die, Forester sizing dies with de-capping/expander removed and the Sinclair Expander. I get runouts around .001-.002 and excellent accuracy. If you get a 6.5 expander for $100 then just neck bushing your brass down just enough to require a bit of expansion. With not all pieces of brass being uniform in neck thickness or concentric thickness the expander gives you a uniform inner case mouth diameter and concentricity. Enclosed is picture of results using expander.

I think you’re vastly underestimating what showing up to the cave with a 400” would have got you in 38,000 bc.

I guess it’s the over use of testosterone replacement in society that they didn’t have 40000 years ago because it certainly seems like it’s gotten a whole lot worse in the last 20 years as far as this topic goes

Definitely give it a try with the processor! They will tell you if it's still good. Usually you will loose some depending on where the body heat gets trapped.

My first deer I gut shot. Had to recover in the morning. Stunk real bad. I got it home and put it in the fridge for 4 days then processed. No stink, no issues. Tasted great!

I think the entry taper comes into play as well. You might try flipping that bushing the other direction if possible.

With all the fires they've had you can glass from the top to the bottom. Remember even in the pines you need to be glassing. Congrats on the tag, I drew the east side early as well with 8 points.
