In 2009 I moved to Payson to start work. I met a gentleman that was 40 years older than I was and we became close friends. I introduced him to a couple of my friends and over the years we have all kept in touch with Royce being the glue that kept us together.
A month ago he fell in the shower and broke a couple of ribs, during his recovery and hospital stay is was determined he most likely had lung cancer and passed a couple of weeks ago, just shy of his 86 birthday.
Thank you Royce for sharing your life with me and my children and dragging me out to glass for Coues and explore some of your favorite areas. God speed and I hope there is a Tripod and 15s set up in heaven just waiting for you.
"Wobblers" were the go to when I was fishing it in the mid 2000s, a piece of aluminum or light gauge steel doesn't tend to get ripped off in a strong Columbia current
Shane might lose his guides license before then, got caught flying a plane over the strip when he had a tag 2 years ago. Can find it in arizona public case lookup under David Koury. Kinda sad
Scooch and I made it out opening morning, limit at 730.
Went out today, took the 20 gauge this time, limit at 710.
So far, two days, 30 birds, 30 retrieves and none ya business shells fired.
It's a personal preference more than anything. RCBS Lite is good to +or- .01 grains and a balance scale is slightly less depending on quality. A two poise balance scale is most accurate but most balance scales aren't accurate to less than .02 grains. I had my balance scale calibrated and accurized by Scott Parker and I was amazed at the accuracy after. For my competition rifles I drop load with RCBS Lite, weigh on my FX-120I, and trickle with Dandy powder trickler. That combo renders loads to +or- .001 grains.
If loading bulk like for 223 I just slam through the powder dropper.
If loading for "precession" rounds I use an electronic dropper then checked on a scale for every round. Pretty quick and good piece of mind. I use the frankford with zero issues. I don't shoot enough to rationalize spending more money.
Only time I use a trickler is when doing load workup as each load is meticulously weighed.
Charge master double checked by a beam balance either every load or every other. So far my charge master has been really good. Occasional over or under charge, but the scale always tells me.
Did them all when they were cheap. 40+ years before you were a wink in your dads eye. The Thrill Is Gone. Too much "Poison" out there in todays market. Lost a young friend and his ex the same day a few months ago. Decent enough dude, just lived the life.
When you are high you are always looking to keep it and getting a better high. It sucks some people in and down they go. 99% of the people get in and get out. Turn it on and turn it off. It's like having a craving for your favorite fast food. But you don't eat it 3X's a day 24/7.
