The Lord blessed me again with this awesome buck today. Crazy thing is I passed this buck up twice on two different days, totally mis judged his size. Today not sure what it was but I saw his antlers in a different light and decided he was good enough. He walked right under my stand and I was lucky enough for a 7 yard shot. A quick score before he went in the freezer came up with 109 2/8". His size was very deceiving, and his mass added up. And before anyone asks, I was alone, didn't have 20 guys on 20 different hills, didnt use radios, also the closest power lines were at least 14 miles away! I thought about posting this in the classifieds, but didn't want to anger Stanley šŸ˜¬

I've been on this forum for months, figured it's better late than never for an introduction. My name is Austin, Whether itā€™s fishing, bowhunting for deer or scouting for elk, Iā€™m always looking to learn new techniques and share experiences. Iā€™m here to swap stories, pick up some tips, and contribute where I can. Looking forward to getting to know you all and diving into some great discussions! Cheers!

When you have dad reloading and pointing out incoming targets on un educated birds it helps. Today he shot and reloaded all on his own and got 5.

Missed the dove opener to fish a few days out of San Jose del Cabo in Baja. The marlin fishing was insane, landed & released 3 Striped from 80-100# and lost another after about a 15 minute fight, plus a beautiful 80# pez vela released and a few dorado kept one day, the next day I just wanted to fill the freezer and took 5 dorado, we missed two wahoo on the troll and killed a few skipjack for cut bait.

Out for dove this morning and helping to recover a shot bird this guy got my attention. I know nothing about snakes but he was cool.

Thanks to my buddy Mark who put the kids on a great field they had an amazing hunt. We had it all to ourselves and it was a target rich environment. I hadn't planned on shooting but once my son was done I used his little 20ga to knock out a limit. We were headed back by 730am with a few limits.

Had a ā€œfewā€ dove in a homemade Italian dressing that were good! Main course was shrimp and grits and halibut with a cream sauce.not many pictures but Iā€™ll let you know the halibut was dry after 7-8 minutes!! Go 4-5 minutes. Fish and sauce was good but the fish was a touch dry for me!!

I know all these awesome dudes out there shooting 80+ for elk but too many variables for me. One step at that distance after you let the arrow fly thatā€™s a 3ā€™ change in target. Then you have wind and adrenaline and deflections and everything else. Iā€™ve killed 8 archery elk between 18 and 52 with several in the 40-45 range that seems to be the sweet spot for me anyway. Like AZ said shoot 60 so 30 and 40 feels like a lay up. Make sure to practice split distances (like 35 and 45) and from your knees would be my advice. good luck!

if you do it right there is no reason at all to not be able to get them inside of twenty yards. Understanding elk behavior and language is key. proper set up, and pay attention to wind. being proficient out to 60 makes the 30 a layup.

Realized i never posted this. Nothing too fancy, just a jake but FINALLY my first turkey. Walked up the hill to us calling, all while gobbling his assss off. Had to lean around a tree for the 45 yard shot and sent him tumbling down the hill. Had other toms around us so forgot the field photos as we continued to hunt. Had my son with me and he took the photos. He loves to carry a safe and empty weapon for dad.... And I don't hate it!
