If anyone is interested is supporting a local charity and have a good chance at winning a 1974 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. All money goes to New Pathways for Youth AZ https://npfy.org/ This is all through a charity group called Arizona Trout Camp that I am apart of that helps raise money for New Pathways. Last year we Donated 60K to NPFY and this year we plan to write them a check for 100K if all goes as planned. There are 300 $100.00 tickets being sold for this Toyota FJ we plan on raffling off at our event this year on June 7th or 8th. The raffle will most likely be live streamed. Winner does NOT have to be present to win. You can click the link below to buy tickets. https://registration.aztroutcamp.com/raffle/ -Tanner

No ifs, ands or buts, it WILL be a great season next fall (at least for Gambels...). Like clockwork, given the solid winter/spring precipitation (at least in most areas), there will be a lot of birds. Most certainly a 'double hatch' year and possibly triple. LOVE IT!

I didn't draw in 2023, but my wife did draw in 2022 with only 13 points. She spent opening day in the ER with kidney stones. She finally killed a great looking ram on the 23rd day of the season. This thread really blew up...ha ha. One thing I will say, don't believe everything you read on this thread. I've been researching sheep draw tags in all of the western states since the early 1980s. My immediate family has drawn 10 sheep tags as a result, with 7 of those coming in the last 17 years. I can tell you that the draw system in Arizona is the best is the western US. It rewards those that faithfully apply each year and still everyone has a reasonable chance. My son drew Arizona with 4 points in 2008 and my wife drew with 13 points in 2022. As far as nonresidents applying in Arizona, their odds are worse than residents due to two factors. First, there is a nonresident cap, so once the cap is reached, no more nonresidents will draw that year. Second, no sheep tags are specifically allocated for nonresident only. Understanding the draw system is the first hurdle to drawing a tag, because as others have mentioned, if you apply in a way that no tags are available (like a top tier sheep unit in Arizona that requires max points), you've just removed yourself from the draw right out of the gate.

I probably have you beat. Turkey is tough and to consistently get one requires real skill, especially in AZ. If you eliminated birds killed by road hunters from the success reports, you would see success rates cut in half. For the life of me, I still haven't figured out why G&F allows the killing hens (baby makers) in the fall.

My wife and I have the Goulds tag in 29 starting this Friday. I helped a friend on this hunt last year. We saw plenty of birds and had an amazing hunt. Were both hoping to get our birds with our bows, fingers crossed! Good luck on your hunt!

Freakin cold and windy this morning… muddy and wet, boots got soaked from the snow. Tom’s were giving me the silent treatment. The wife’s words of “ you can buy a turkey for $.99 a lb “ kept echoing through my head…..

Windy as all get out, but still managed.

Solo hunt. Had no one to take my picture. Like you said real quiet this morning, came running in silent. One shot from my son's 20 gauge did the trick.
