If anyone is interested is supporting a local charity and have a good chance at winning a 1974 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. All money goes to New Pathways for Youth AZ https://npfy.org/ This is all through a charity group called Arizona Trout Camp that I am apart of that helps raise money for New Pathways. Last year we Donated 60K to NPFY and this year we plan to write them a check for 100K if all goes as planned. There are 300 $100.00 tickets being sold for this Toyota FJ we plan on raffling off at our event this year on June 7th or 8th. The raffle will most likely be live streamed. Winner does NOT have to be present to win. You can click the link below to buy tickets. https://registration.aztroutcamp.com/raffle/ -Tanner

My wife and I have the Goulds tag in 29 starting this Friday. I helped a friend on this hunt last year. We saw plenty of birds and had an amazing hunt. Were both hoping to get our birds with our bows, fingers crossed! Good luck on your hunt!

IMG_4145.mov I was able to take my first Arizona goulds turkey a couple weeks ago with the help of my buddy Christian. He had hunted this unit last year and had a good idea where we needed to go and it did not take long.

No snow except a few very dark north facing pockets…handful of sheds. Haven’t hit the “pocket” yet but hopefully soon. Lots of miles of great country 👍

I was in off 95 all over shed hunting last weekend and roads were decent. I was up there today and got a bit of snow but melting quickly. Good luck 👍

I have 13 points and hoping to use them this year. AZ sure needs to increase our NR fees.

It was a very tough year with the exception of October it sounds like. I’ve heard multiple reports from people on the October hunt talking about how great the movement was. I also think we are low on the typical 3yo deer from the 2020 drought year. I remember noticing a very low fawn population in 2020 and saying to myself we are gonna notice this in a few years! What also hurts with low numbers of your branch antler deer is it seems a lot of spikes were shot this year and that’s not gonna help for the future. so I would say I don’t think the population is dwindling but I do think there is a gap in age class. I also believe these deer are masters at survival and maybe with the dry year and lack of water they held up more to conserve and not have to frequent water as much where they were more vulnerable. But that’s just some of my thoughts 🤷🏼‍♂️

I said it earlier in this thread and I’ll say it again, AZ has the best sheep hunting in the country, bar none, and has the best way of divvying them out in the country. You’ve always got a chance, and always working toward something. Squared points get destroyed by lower point tiers inflating the odds. Look at your chances of hard tags jn NV. My points go up exponentially every year but my odds actually stay the same or in some high demand areas DECREASE every year. I know everyone likes to complain about the G&F, and their abortion of an application website is worth complaining about but the quality and way of handing out tags is the best there is.

The odds of drawing a sheep tag with 30 points is actually 30 times better than with 0 points. It’s diluted but it’s a fact.

I didn't really see anyone respond to the OP! Sorry Umpqua, but I don't have an answer....just waiting for someone who does.

Nobody said their experience isn’t as valuable. All I’m saying is that the people who have invested decades and thousands of dollars should have higher odds than they currently do. We don’t have enough sheep tags to go around, it’s time to relook at the system for oil species. Other states are limiting non res, waiting periods, selecting certain species only, etc. I’m all for habitat and population growth. That’s one good thing AZ has going for it
