Like the title says, I have a 1980 CJ 5 for sale. My dad bought it in 1982 and it was passed on to me a few years ago. I hate to get rid of it, but I don’t have the time to care for it like I should. The original engine was replaced in the 80’s with a bigger AMC 304. It has a PowerTrax Lock Right rear locker and will get you everywhere you’re brave enough to go. It does leak a little oil, I believe it’s from the rear main seal. It’s been like this for decades, we’ve always just checked the oil periodically and added when needed. Overall it’s in good shape. The shifter can be touchy. If jammed into gear, the shifter can get stuck in that particular gear- never have taken it to get looked at, I’ve always just shifted gentle and it’s never been an issue. Also has: After market front bumper with winch. Rear bumper with swing away spare. Dual exhaust Prices seem to be all over the place for these old Jeeps. Sold!

I am late to this party. I have had American Modern Insurance which was reasonable and super easy to deal with when I had an unfortunate claim. The y had mileage restrictions. I now use Grundy with no mileage restrictions and full coverage to the tune of 250 per year for my 39 Stude Coupe.

My wife and I are sitting at 15 also. It feels wrong to just keep putting in for BP's.

Back in the 70's we had people come from all over to hunt quail down around the farms in the boot heel of New Mexico. I googled quail traps..............if you take this basic concept, cut a 6" hole in the bottom, dig a 5" wide ditch in the dirt from the outside of the cage to the hole in the center and then spread grain in the tunnel to the middle you will catch more quail than you can imagine.......one covey shows up and you can catch a bunch. They can't figure out how to get back out the hole.

Very interesting on the quail stuff. They mentioned the quail are too smart for the cone traps used for dove -- surprising. Our local quail would be similar to the golf course quail and our neighborhood quail are HUGE, albeit not that warry, so they may not fare well. Only a third of the nesting females surviving is disappointing. Tough life for these critters that seem to only respond to winter rains. Looks like it is going to be a BOOM year next with great numbers this year and record rains in January. Wish the same could be said for the mearns. Summer rains have sucked, though.

Finding a 350 bull these days is hard. It seems the phoenix/tucson guys find them more often.

Rifle your not even close. Even with archery you're under 10% for all units. There are 2 units you could draw though. 6B & 30A archery

The older I get, the more depressing this is…

Looks like they split the hunt in two and added 50 tags overall when compared to 2023's 425 permit late rifle bull hunt. Usually overcrowding issues with hunters but really puts stress on animals going into the winter when you add another week of hunting.

Hurt my shoulder from all the shooting and dragging more I’m sure.

I don’t know but for me “success” means different things for each hunt. When you tag out on an animal you’re happy with, of course that’s success. But I’ve also gone on “unsuccessful” hunts where no freezer was filled that I would consider a success due to the memories made with family, learning new areas in a unit, and getting to learn more about how the animals behave at different times of the day or different times of year

I would have quit hunting years ago if I only measured my success by whether or not I killed something.

Who remembers being able to get 2 whitetail tags/year? That was fun, taking a buck early for the freezer, then trophy hunting for the "real" tag! I miss those days...
