I was given permission to metal detect in an abandoned mining camp yesterday. Mostly tin cans and broken bottles were dug up but I did find one intact perfume bottle. I started finding where the crucibles from the assessors office were tossed and was hoping to find an intact one when I hit a good target. Wasn't attracted to a magnet, nor was the oxidation and crust rusty at all. Too big to be a coin and weighs exactly 2toz. Put it in acid and vinegar overnight. Tests out .925 silver. Why was it there in a 19th century dump? It's obviously been poured into a crude mold or crucible. Could the crucible have been tossed out with the silver still in it? Normally the crucibles are crushed and reran through the smeltering process because 100% of the mineral content is not poured out, leaving small amounts of precious metals behind. However it got there, this mine produced 250000 ounces of silver in its day. I can now account for two of those ounces.

Something a little healthier for dinner tonight. Shrimp stir fry with some veggies, a little garlic, teriyaki, soy and sesami oil. Forgot toasted sesami seeds and sprouts.

Hey guys, January was really good this year. I was able to see a lot of animals and was able to go on plenty of stalks. with that being said, I also got my butt kicked plenty of times. With January winding down. I found myself on the 27th looking at this deer in his bed in a really good area to approach him not being a fan of hunting in August in September I decided that I would be super happy with this buck if I was lucky enough to close the distance and get an arrow in him. With the conditions that day being super windy, it helped a lot with my stalk and I was able to get into a comfortable distance and get a shot on this buck when he got out of his bed. It all worked out and I was very happy with this buck and the stalk that I put on him.

Josh, print the form and have him take his to his Dr. If he’s as messed up as you say, the doc should sign it. It’s all contingent on the Dr. analysis.,but from what you’re saying it should be a given . Helps if they are not antis, for sure.

This time last year they were catching those huge totoabas off the pier. They were using relatively small swimbaits. I’d throw like a 5500 size spinning reel with a pretty long rod with 40lb braid and and 20lb-40lb leader, 1-2oz lead head with a swim bait. Catch a nice sardinera or a totoaba also guys are hammering the big corvina off pelican point area

Pretty judgey of you. The crossbow permit was put in place for people with an 85% disability in their ability to shoot a bow by AZGF. So, anyone who can’t shoot a bow anymore should just have to give up the September hunts? All OTC opportunities as well? Disabled vets included? I had three shoulder surgeries for various injuries, I guess I faked them all. Had more than few months I couldn’t have cast a fishing rod, much less fought a fish. If I finally draw another antelope tag when my grandson is old enough to hunt and choose to transfer the tag to him while I’m alive, and able to share the excitement of a new hunter getting to hunt an animal that would take him possibly into his 40s to draw on his own makes me guilty of “abusing” the system, I’ll abuse it. you left out the CHAMP permit group, I guess the mobility impaired are abusing it as well. If you can’t walk , stay home! Enjoy your view from up there on your soapbox.

We just recently moved to Montana from Az and I couldn’t believe the estimated costs that I saw online. We ended up renting a couple 26’ U-Hauls and although it wasn’t easy, it cost us a whole lot less to do it ourselves.

Spot and stalk on a Coues buck is one of the toughest things a hunter can do imho. Congrats, I'm glad it worked for you.

You can use shrimp and squid for bait there. You can catch triggerfish there and will probably catch little stingrays which you can cut up and use for bait as well.

Dinner tonight is NY Strip, with grilled asparagus and green and yellow zucchini, with simple corn salt and pepper. Not my best trim job, but hunger outweighs pictures!
