This bobcat and I have had 3 years of cat and mouse. I spotted him yesterday at 60 yards. I took a couple photos with my camera that I carry with me on a tripod while hunting, thinking I had a slim chance at even getting a shot with my bow so might as well get some pictures. To my surprise, he obviously noticed me too but instead of running off like he did in previous run ins, he instead walked towards me and sat down at 55 yards. I drew back and centered between my 50 and 60 yard pins and I center punched his chest. He didn’t move an inch. He’s a beauty of a bobcat and am looking forward to having him mounted.

I haven’t been on here in quite some time. I got out yesterday and found this younger buck with a few does. Not worth shooting with a January tag but pretty cool to see. Been pretty slow rut wise this year.

Last night the Amazon driver recognized them in my yard and drove over to where she thought they lived and asked if their dogs were missing. Then she drove back to our house and said the owners were on their way. Not sure how to recognize the Amazon driver, but that was way above and beyond her duties!! Dogs are home safe!

Colby had 3 bps going into this draw and drew tag #1 for his multi unit hunt. This week we double checked the rifle and shooting strategies and started putting gear together. I let him choose where he wanted to start opening day, he picked the farthest unit and the farthest part away from home. This morning we left the house, made a lucky superstitious stop at a gas station for his doughnuts and hit the road. When we got to the first glassing spot, we couldn’t see crap. The fog was pretty good this morning. We spent 45 minutes watching funny videos and listening to music while the sun killed the fog. We glassed for an hour, didn’t see any pigs moving but coues were in full rut. We moved to our second glassing spot. After a while we got lucky and spotted pigs below us 300 yards away feeding in the oaks. We grabbed our gear and when we got to 220 yards, Colby said he can make the shot. I’d like him to get 150 or so but he was confident. We got the rifle set up and he got on the larger boar right away. After a few practice squeezes he felt ready and let the rifle bark. The pig hit the ground hard on the quartering to shot (messy gutting job). This boar had some age and stink to him. We took our time, cleaned the pig and took pictures. We picked up some roadside burritos and hit the road on the way home.

Have an old #3 Herter press with the fitting that uses RCBS dies. They sell on ebay for silly money. Yours for $25 if you pick it up South of Tucson. Shipping is too expensive. Also have a Herter's balance scale , also $25 , pick up only. Look up these completed items on ebay advanced search to check values. May have a case trimmer and a few other items. The dies that were advertised here are sold. I-19 and Duval Mine Rd, Green Valley

Lol. Yes for sure. Back in the day phoenix raceway park then speedworld. Actually spun a rod bearing in the first engine I put in it, just a stock ls1 out of a 2000 Camaro. Car ran traction limited high to mid 12’s with the ls1. Now with ls3 best I could limit the tire spinning was 12 flat at 127. Ls3 just has ALOT more torque and hp. So i know theres way more potential there but thats not what the rear suspension is set up for. I’m going to start auto crossing and doing track day events like SSCA/Proauto/NASA with it once new suspension is in.

Easier way is to click on grapevinedave's name and when it opens up hit the mail button. It will auto fill his name and you just need to put a topic and whatever you want to say. It saves a step and the aggravation of not entering his name right.

I’m not completely against the idea of the E tag but to me an “E” tag should be just that, totally electronic. I’m not sure how that happens? Maybe taking identifying pics and uploading to the app? I don’t know but this making our own tags out of whatever we have and affixing however seems like they don’t really care about the shenanigans that can happen in the field with tagged animals and more about saving money on postage and printing tags.

4 days before the start of this hunt, Eddie Corona at OE4A contacted me about donating this hunt to me from a very generous person who was unable to hunt. I'm a double amputee combat vet and a diehard bowhunter. Immediately I got to planning. I knew nothing about bison and about bison hunting. Luckily I got connected with Russ and Laura Jacoby. They are bison whisperers. I can truly tell you that I would not have been successful on this hunt without them. Their logistical expertise is on par with extremely complex military deployments that I've been a part of. It's amazing to see what they do. The conditions this year were tough. There is still a ton of snow on the Kaibab. 4'-7' drifts are still present up there. Without a snowmobile or UTV with tracks, it was impossible to reach the blinds and salt. And the road leading in to the north rim is closed until June 2nd. I'm not convinced that the snow will be fully melted in time to get access with a truck. My hunt ended June 6th, so I definitely hired Russ/Laura or else I wouldn't have been able to access the hunt area. As most people know, this particular hunt means you have to sit in a blind, 14 hrs a day for an average of 14 days before you harvest a bison. You have to wait for them to come off the park. I mentally prepared myself for this. And I knew I was going to take the risk and try with my bow. It took us many hours just to reach the spike camp deep in the Kaibab using UTVs with snow tracks. It was slow going, like 9mph for 12 miles slow. After we finally arrived at the camp, Russ sent us 3 hunters out to hunt half a day while he set up the camp. Myself, Randy and Dave set out on the 90 minute ride to the hunt area. Randy and I dropped off Dave and then parked the UTV to begin our mile long walk into the blind. We hunted our way to the blind and as we approached the blind Randy spotted bison already at the water source. We quickly set down our gear. I grabbed my bow and Randy grabbed his rifle. Randy was able to take a quick couple shots and down went one of the bison. One bison ran away into the Grand Canyon park and the other waited by the bison that was laying on the ground. At that point I was able to slip in to 28yds and put an absolutely perfect arrow in the last bison. I shot another arrow and hit low in the sternum, but it wasn't necessary because the first arrow was a kill shot through both lungs. He fell and was dead in 30 seconds. We were ecstatic. We celebrated, hugged, cried and shared our viewpoints on what had happened. It was absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe I had snuck in with a bow, on the rim of the Grand Canyon and perfectly shot a bison!!! It took us long into the night to cut up the two bison and load them on to the snow machines. We used Russ's winches on the UTVs and portable winches to hoist the two bison into trees to make the work easier. Another 24 hrs later we were finally back at the main camp. After our goodbyes I drove home and got to contemplate what had just happened. I think I'm luckier than I should be. I never even stepped foot in that blind. I can't wait to try the bison meat from this harvest and sharing it with friends and family! Other than that...all I can say is that I am so blessed and thankful for OE4A for what they do.

Story is short and simple. Had a tough hunt, punched my 2023 tag on the last day on a smaller buck, jacked my ankle pretty bad packing it out. Unfortunate, because I had a Javelina tag and a 2024 tag. Fortunately after a few days of rest at camp I was able to get a brace on it and limp around killing my javelina. By the last few days I was able to navigate a little on the hillsides, so I got after the coues again. Encountered this buck the day before I killed him, bumped him with does and really couldn't pursue him where he went. Returned the next day, turned him up around some does, slipped in and had him walk to 12 yards behind a doe. Could only see his head and we were in a standoff. The doe eventually blew, the buck bolted but curled back to look for the doe. Stopped at 27 for a brief moment and I arrowed him....

Eli, that’s a great turnaround time and the buck looks awesome! I only take in a certain amount of work each year. I quote a 12 month turnaround, but usually complete within 10 months. It’s a more of a passion for me, so I try and care for each piece. Couple bucks finished up the last few months.

Mogollon taxidermy runs about 12 months. He has a lot of mounts to work on and a small crew to help but they are amazing!
