Just finished cleaning my dad’s cast iron. He passed away a few months ago and loved cooking on trips, sometimes more than actually hunting. All USA pieces by Wagner, Chicago Hardware Foundry and Lodge. I already have an equal amount or more in my garage. Can a guy have too much cast iron? The wife thinks I need to sell some off.

yeah - every new year's eve every year is a no burn day due to 'air quality' - but it's ok to fill the valley with sulfur from a million fireworks... I guess the tax revenue make the pollution ok.

Yes, I think I will add it to all of the other cast iron I have - much of which he gave me as well.

Years ago my Dad had a Ford pinto. We drove it up near Kearney, to javalina hunt. Dad forgot the crate full of cast iron skillets at home. So I thought we were screwed. Dad popped all 4 hubcap's off. They where shaped just like bowls, We cooked out of two and ate out of the other two. I swear McGuiver had nothing on my Dad. 😀

We are hosting an in-person classroom Hunter Ed class in Flagstaff Feb 8-11. I set it up three weeks ago and only one kid has registered so far. Class will be 6-8pm Feb 9 and 10, 8am-5pm Feb 11, and the field day will be 9am-1pm Feb 12. Classroom portions will be at the Flagstaff AGFD office and the field day will be at the NAZ Shooting Range. 100% attendance for all portions is mandatory. NAZ NWTF and the local AMDO group will be providing pizza lunch on Saturday, Feb 11. All firearms and ammunition will be provided. Preference is for kids who need the class to hunt; however, we encourage parents to take the class with their younger kids. As of this morning, there are 17 seats left. Thursday, February 8, 2024 6:00pm - 8:00pm Friday, February 9, 2024 6:00pm - 8:00pm Saturday, February 10, 2024 8:00am - 5:00pm Sunday, February 11, 2024 9:00am - 1:00pm Full transparency: we set the class schedule up based on local instructor availability and local (Flagstaff, Williams, Parks, Bellmont, etc.) kids' availability. We've found that drawing a class out 2 hours at a time over 3 weeks gets old and information retention is not great, leading to lower success/passing rates. Saturday can be a long day, but we break it up by rotating stations with the AGFD room split with a divider and rotate between each side, pulse the lobby so kids aren't sitting in the same seat all day. Throw in plenty of breaks, an hour lunch with a test review, and plenty of jokes, and the day flies by. The kids get plenty of time and opportunities to blow off steam and pent-up silliness and wiggles. On top of that, we rarely, if ever, go until 5 pm. We will not be accepting online students into the field day for this class. We do not have enough instructors to maintain the required instructor:student ratio and keep everyone safe. Our Flagstaff instructor group will be hosting several online field days this spring-fall for those students who took the online course and need a field day. https://www.register-ed.com/events/view/206214

Old buck. Teeth were worn down almost to the gums. Patience paid off. Past on 5 other bucks before he came to the scrape I was sitting on. Not my best buck to dated but I thought you might enjoy seeing him.

I have 5 stainless available at 80$ each and 3 titanium available ( only 2.3 oz)at 130$ each. These are good for .243-30 cal.I made these as “ Christensen prefits” as they are already turned down to match the .910 carbon barrel muzzle od. Crush washer included or swing by my shop in Gilbert and I’ll time it to your rifle for an additional 40$. These work amazing you will not be disappointed. Text is best. 480-707-2460. Thnx.

You get it. It is very fluid from year to year and really depends on the Doe's. Anyone who has hunted Coues long enough has see bucks sniffin to chasing from late December to late February.

Wanted to share a Public Service Announcement! I almost got SCREWED by a scam site selling Norma 270 WSM brass. Beware of purchasing anything from Coastal Firearms Shop, as they are a complete scam looking to take advantage of you. Thankfully, I chose to pay using their PayPal option. However, I found it funny that I didn't get the same alert from PayPal notifying me of a charge. Well....I just received the following email: Dear Chef, Proceed to make payment to our PayPal ID below. Order amount: $190.00 Order number: #14795 Due to PayPal’s strict regulation against Firearms & and any ammunition purchases, we can only accept PayPal payments as Friends & Family type. PayPal ID: Gamersoccerkid200007@mail.com Send us a payment receipt or a screenshot for confirmation. Regards, Ethan William | Sales Manager CoastalFirearm This is where the scam starts. Their site is bogus; the PayPal link is not active. They are now reaching out to me so that I can make a "Friends & Family" payment to them. If I were to do this, I get shafted and out $190 as "PayPal's purchase protection does not cover friends and family" payments. I got lucky.

Haha, so true. I just used some Kosher Salt and a stainless steel scrubber to clean up the inside. I had to use to dish soap in a few spots as well. After rinsing them in hot water, I used vegetable oil to re-season. I used my outside grill and baked them for 30 minutes and then added more oil and baked for another 30 minutes. My dad used to use Crisco, but I always felt like that was too thick and became gooey if the skillet or oven isn't used often. I've always just used vegetable oil.

Update, he got a position at Chapman Chevrolet. They are going to start him off hourly until he is comfortable to go flat rate. He's already looking at craigslist, garage and estate sales for specialty tools. He's got some starter stuff to get him going, but he at least has his foot in the door. Thank you all for your input and advice.
