I was able to take this absolute behemoth of a bear this morning. I typically hunt the spring but due to the shortened season, late winter moisture and cool temps, I was not able to turn a bear up. I had hesitations about hunting higher elevations in the oaks due the great crop of prickly pear not far away at lower elevation. Well I'm glad I stuck with my original plan.

Spending the last few evenings processing my bull has been a lot of work , but something I always look forward to . Teaching my son to take pride in your blessings , along with teaching him skills that I hope he will carry on to his son. Having my father there this time to see me pass on the passion of hunting and the outdoors the way he instilled them in me is something I will hold tight for the rest of my life. This has been my favorite part of this hunt.

My 11yr old son harvested a nice tom turkey yesterday. This was his first turkey and first big game harvest. When he dumped it, it death flopped into the water tank we were sitting and got muddy. It wasn't pretty for pictures, but it was a nice bird. He was super excited and so was his little brother, and of course I was probably more excited then both of them for him!

Went out early this afternoon and took my almost 4 year old grandson. 10 minutes in he passed out. Went back to camp, started a fire and cooked hot dogs.

3 1/2 -4? Fawns are all born at the same time in july-august how can you possibly tell all of that about a couple of long range cell phone photos?

Hunted for muley horns this weekend. Found a decent amount of deer biggest was a fairly big Forky we passed on. Moved to another area and got on 2 nice coues this am and made a stalk til they vanished in thick stuff and we ended up bumping them. Standards are officially lowered now and will go for any big forkies or better. Some of my go to spots are just too thick and it's been pretty darn warm. Good luck to all .

We spotted a large group of Kaibab birds this morning heading up a ridge. My son (27) had the legs to hike up and cut them off dropping this young Tom with his Remington 1187 20 gauge loaded with 3”mag #4 steel. One down two to go! BTW it was about 28 degrees!

I had fun this season. Although I never let an arrow loose on an elk, there were opportunities that just didn't pan out. Day 3 was perhaps the closest I came to cutting loose, but never got a clear shot. Letting this bull go on day 5 wasn't easy, but I wanted a much bigger amimal having taken larger ones. If it had been day 10 or later, probably different outcome... Bugling also wasn't near as prevalent as we'd hoped for either. There were days where it was also completely silent. The bull on day 3 was significantly larger btw too. Oh well, it was, as I said, a lot of fun!

I used it for my dogs to cool off in so I plumbed a pump with a filter into it to keep it clean. Pump stopped working but maybe it can be fixed. Or plug the holes and use it as a stock tank. Tractor supply has this for 600 bones right now. $150.00 PS. I am an electrician not a plumber so please no comments on my plumbing job.

Yes all the chokes it came with. I think its full, modified and Ic. And it has the wrench since its not a typical choke tool

I looked at jumping jacks but for the price I settled on a cot and a tent. When I get a trailer it’s gonna have ac and a heater!

I can have a satisfying hunt without killing something. I have passed on deer and elk in hopes of killing one with a bigger rack.

I would have quit hunting years ago if I only measured my success by whether or not I killed something.

Awesome. I have a love hate relationship with the Kaibab (cold).

Eli I agree. That's all part of preparation and enduring the days and hours of the hunt. I do probably 80% of my hunts solo. I go where I want to go and follow my hunches and only have myself to get me out of situations. I hunt because I like the stalk and the kill. The meat is a bonus but I hunt to pull the trigger and see stuff die and get the meat. Every step I take I see something I have never seen before and will never see again.

Agree fully. But unsuccessful doesn’t mean a bad hunt, didn’t learn, not fun, etc.

if nothing breaks and nobody gets hurt, thats a good hunt. if you have a goal to kill a huge bull and you hunt the whole time and dont kill youre more successful than someone that shoots a rag with a trophy tag. jmho

if a guys goal is just to kill anything legal i guess i agree.

2X3 possibly 3 1/2 - 4 years old. It will put on some weight but I don't see that rack getting more points.
