I was only going to be able to hunt opening weekend due to work and other things going on. I had planned on sitting a tank since the monsoon has been pretty lackluster and then like clockwork a big storm rolls through the area on Wed evening. I get to camp on Thurs and there are puddles of water everywhere, I decide to sit water anyway and see what happens. Friday opening day comes, sit all day and only 2 does come to water. The weather was heating up friday and the puddles were starting to dry out, higher hopes for Saturday sit. Morning comes get to tank, I hear someone in the distance yelling at his dogs, some Turkey sound off gobbling after that. The hours go by, have people coming to tank mid day to check tracks, Have a drone flying overhead, more people coming to check tank. Im hot and irritated, its 1pm and I decide Im going to leave. I get up to stretch and look around and see a body of a deer, cant see the head. I get ready, a doe comes to water. I knew there were more than 1 deer so I stay ready. Second deer comes in and its a buck, looks like a decent buck. I decide I will take him. He drinks and I think maybe I wont take him, a little smaller than my original thoughts. He messes with the doe for a little while and starts to walk off, it was then that I decided to shoot him at 43 yds. He took a tumble right away, got up junped the fence and almost fell there. I lose him in the trees. I wait 30 mins and start to track, short blood trail as he was piled up only 30-40 yds from shot.

For the first time in my adult life, I purposely took the opener off. Took my boy and my pup out. Both had a blast. Flying was a little slow, but we had a great day.

Of trophy bucks? Yes. Guys aren't holding out for the big buck they caught on cam anymore. They're flinging arrows at the first antlered buck that's in range. Just my humble opinion.

Wanted lead shot 7 1/2, 8 or 9 shot Will pay cash or will trade a recoil pad installation includes pad and custom fit (an $80.00 value) for a 25 lb bag. Or will deduct $60.00 for ea 25 lb bag on a Professional Gunstock refinish. Thank you for your consideration

The range that I have encountered is $90 to $150 within 15 miles. I've been telling ours she needs to raise her rate to $120. She has been tuning pianos since she was 10 years old. She has a Music degree and has taught my kids for 14+ years, and tuned our pianos since 2019. She's taught me a lot about music and pianos. I decided I would learn to play the piano and guitar starting in the middle of May of 2021. I don't think I'll ever make it to advanced, but I'll do the best I can while I can. She's teaching me how to tune my own piano. But I'd never do it like you or her. I have other places my short time is required. But doing my own I will have no problem.

We were experiencing a lot of vandalism at my mine. We had advertised for a public event out there on local radio stations encouraging people to "follow the signs." Evening before the event, the signs were all cut down. So I put cameras out watching signs and the front gate. Never caught the trouble maker, save this one babe near the front gates. (Ignore the date stamps, pics about 11 months old)

Last thing I want is a draw for archery. Most all the Coues archery hunts don't come close to hitting the quota. People are pissed that they don't get to chase muleys in the rut and I get it, kind of sucks. But a few years of this is really going to help the mule deer.

    There is no August hunt

Should at least switch it to out of state draw only

It did. Not of animals harvested, but of trophy bucks harvested. Everyone is in the RACE to beat the cut off.

I’m surprised everyone is complaining. Maybe a no spike rule unless you are a youth hunter, would help. But there’s plenty of deer if you’re willing to get more than 5 feet off a road. id rather see them cut back on rifle tags, than reduce archery opportunities. It funny how archery otc is the one on the chopping block, not rifle tags usually.

Baiting should be legal. Mule deer don’t come to bait very well anyway, it doesn’t make much difference. why would you want to drive success rates down? That seems like no fun. Go kill a deer and have some fun with the kids.

Pick your weapon... if you buy an otc tag in January you don't get to apply in the draw. No more having 2 deer tags. Otc sales cut in half, reduced take. Problem solved. Next step in saving deer... get rid of electronic communication during the pursuit/stalk. F&G is hypocritical when they preach Fair Chase then out of the other side of their mouth they allow this. I'd bet if they changed these two things most of the quotas wouldn't be filled and we'd live happily ever after.

Here is a 120" buck taken last year in Sonora, MX by Buck L. Buck was hunting with Jason Sherwood of High Desert Outfitters. The other bucks were taken by a father/son duo in Sonora, MX and they hunted with Goodman Outfitters. View the full article

We killed bulls. We had access to stock and I wouldn't want to hunt the unit without them. Most of our time was spent along the north border and north of the cliff dwellings. Very little glassable country in the country we hunted.

My friend wore wife sewn cammie fleece boots over his Danners, and killed a big mulie yesterday. Even with wet soil, he credits part of success to "sneaky feet." I went in earlier this month down a catclaw thick ravine in undershorts and socks, with one arrow. Only possible shot was at 38 yards ( too far, laser ranged later...yep, the joys of primitive gear). Buck was often at 20 yards, does 12, 15, and was unable to get a shot due to brush. Point is this: No way ever I could have done that approach in pants and boots. We both are really tired of sound costing us opportunity, and I am hanging up the 50 cotton/50 nylon desert cammies till pistol season. "Swish, swish, swish, dang, they were right there!"
