12 pointsAfter Googling the name on the dog tag I found, I was given several phone numbers, addresses and possible family members. I sent a photo of the dog tag to the cell numbers associated with the veterans name. About a week later, I got a response simply asking "Who is this?" After an explanation I was told that I had indeed located the next of kin. The vets widow, son and daughter in law were living in the same home. When I asked the daughter in law how the tag might have ended up out there in Morristown where I unearthed it. Back 60 years ago, the hotel there was also a general store, post office and had a Texaco garage. Sp4 Jarvis and wife were living in Sun City. He loved trains and since the old hotel was only a few hundred feet from the railroad tracks, he could take photos of the trains while having his car serviced. The tag arrived at his sons and widows home yesterday, this Memorial day weekend. Y'all have a good weekend and remember the reason we have a 3 day weekend.

2 pointsThis is my hunting rig. ( 2001) I have a 3” lift. I put on spaced rims. I unplugged the trac control from the master cylinder to over ride the vsc/trac system. it’s a heavy, but very capable rig. I actually sold my SxS and just use the sequoia.

2 pointsWe used AR-10'a with Pulsar scopes. Hunted from sundown until 4AM driving around until the "guide" spotted them through a monocular then we would stalk them on foot from 300 to 800 yards. It was a bit overcast and no moon which made stalking easier since they couldn't see us by the light of the moon. We went in late October. We probably drove an easy 50 miles or more.

2 pointsLots of water. Every tank I checked held water. Good for the game, but keeps them spread out since they don't have to concentrate around a few wet tanks. I was surprised at how dry it was though. Not nearly as green as I expected. It was still chilly 2 weeks ago,and of course winds were whipping all day. Mirage was terrible. But I saw a lot of pronghorn, just spread out.

1 pointWell my turn finally came and I drew a bonus pass tag on the second hunt for a Gould's tag. I was dieing to get in the woods after all the Gould's photos were posted last week. Finally got to the woods yesterday afternoon set up camp and had a few hours to do some scouting. First thing this morning I had another hunter move in on the birds I was calling in off the roost and it was game over for both of us. The scouting from the day before really paid off and we hurried to our plan B spot. We were able to locate and call in this strutting tom and his 7 hens. It was a short hunt and we were done by 6:45 this morning. I look forward to putting in for Merriam's again and getting to hunt for myself more often.

1 pointBought this a few months back with the intention of building a really cool overland/hunting rig. I’m on the fence on whether to go ahead and start the mods or just continue using my truck. If it doesn’t sell, I’ll build it into my hunting rig. The good 4WD , 4.7 V8 with only 156K miles , no dents or rust, Limited edition ( nice gray leather, frt and rear AC, heated seats Bose sound , moonroof, etc) no leaks, no smoke, runs great , brand new Michelins The bad I bought it from Geico at an insurance auction. The catalytics had been stolen and they nicked a transmission fluid line with the sawall. I had new cats installed and the line repaired. Runs excellent and passed emissions but has a rebuilt title. The Sequoia appears to have been well maintained, leather is great, not dented up or scraped underneath from off roading. The back hatch and bumper are sun faded and need painted. SOLD

1 pointGreenpeace is a far cry from what it was in it's infancy. Radicals, extremists and all too often terrorists.

1 pointAs I type, I remember a funny story. Every so often on the Chuuk Islands, they would get Greenpeace type folks anchor and try and save the people from their own paradise. Well, the Chuukese know to not tell the visitors what they were eating (dog) until AFTER the meal. They would get a kick out of seeing them distraught, appalled, and you can think of everything else. Ahhhh, good times.

1 pointI do the wrong thing often. Its really hard not to let an arrow fly sometimes even though I know I probably shouldn't.
-
1 pointI never knew these were a thing till my last trip south. Decided to try after we caught a few. They’re basically pure meat, no bones and a couple of lb.s of great eating we’ve been leaving behind. Googled recipes after getting home, and I found a few that are super simple. Great eating!
