2 pointsI do not know how often you practice and your limits to shots you are comfortable taking. That said, I personally would not take that shot based on my skill level and what I feel comfortable doing. Everyone has a different comfort level and willingness to take a shot like that.

2 pointsI had a Mexican guy working in my shop a few years ago. Said he had to go to court for poaching. Told me he and his neighbors would drive the trails with spotlights and kill all the deer they wanted until he was busted doing it. Said in Mexico they just went out and killed whatever they wanted. I told him he was not in Mexico then I fired his a$$.

2 pointsNot on topic but I have a San Diego kayak fishing trip booked for me and my 15 daughter in June and I can’t freaking wait

1 pointI do the wrong thing often. Its really hard not to let an arrow fly sometimes even though I know I probably shouldn't.

1 pointKnew a Vietnamese chick said she had had it, also said it was not bad. Id definitely try it. Weirdest thing I've tried was lamb brains in a Mediterranean deli type shop.

1 pointThe traveling gun sprinklers you mentioned earlier aren't very common out here, but I do have some first hand experience with a Kifco model. They're not exactly problem free and you have to babysit them sometimes, but it might be best for your situation... I envision the prairie dogs destroying a sub-surface drip field. I don't mind sharing what I know about them if it would help you any. Just let me know.

1 pointI live in Taylor, so if you want to come and look at this blaster you are more than welcome. I don't have any oxygen tank so can't demonstrate it but can show you the concept.

1 pointI guess I've just been beaten into a generally pessimistic viewpoint on water over the years. That being said, look at that sucker fill!!! Basically 1 1/2 feet per day, lately and going strong! Hope it can keep that pace for a while. One of my Utah connections is tickled that he can launch at Bullfrog.

1 pointThis is a quick design by the water reel company. As long as my well produces what we hope and think This should cover that property

1 pointI don’t have that much water. I have a deep well with a 12” casing which can handle 600gpm but I don’t have power or pumps that can handle it. Right now since I don’t have 3 phase power I’m having a 25hp and drive out in that should give me about 180gpm and 100psi, That is why I’m looking at a water reel. I have a design that will use a reel and water all that I need from 5 locations. It will take some moving but a lot less work moving pipe all the time. I just don’t know reliable or don’t have much experience with them. Thankfully we are in an area that has plenty of ground water, it is just deep. I’ve looked at quite a few options but this seems like a good compromise between time/money and irrigating efficiency But I have no idea hence the reason I’m asking i will have to look into the prairie dog bombing that looks pretty crazy

1 pointI'm sure there will be several of us that end up being "that guy" for various reasons on this trip. But it won't be so bad since the boat will be full of our party anyways.

1 pointIF this is your first tuna trip, my advice is, don't go... Unless you are prepared to spend a silly amount of money in the future for 4-6 complete rigs, spools of every size braid and fluoro known to man and a big bag full of lead jigs in the event you get hooked. Which if you get into fish, and don't get seasick, odds are you will be hooked. Can't wait for the big boys to arrive, if they do at all. Good luck and have fun.

1 pointVerdehunter, i’m assuming this is a new type of fishing for you? if it is rent tackle from H&M, 100%. you could easily spend more than the cost of the trip on a pair of rods and reels, and if you are going to bring gear on a 3 Day you want at least 3 outfits. i’d rent and watch and see what the other anglers are using and take the opportunity to learn about reels and rods, settings, line capacity, drag, etc. if you like this type of fishery, you will have some knowledge from the trip about what type of rods and reels you want to buy when you do it again. I would buy some flouro carbon as they won’t give that to you with your rental…40#-80#… if you can afford to go bigger do it. I would buy 2-4 jigs flatfall style or knife jigs, 180-250grams, 4-6 torpedo 5-10ounce torpedo sinkers with rubber bands, and a variety of hooks…#2-2/0. As another member said, practice knots for a week or more ahead of the trip. The San Diego jam knot is the preferred leader to hook or Lure connection. The Palomar or a good old fisherman‘s a.k.a. Trilene knot also work fine in that application. it’s also wise to be proficient with a line the line knot or two. If you’re connecting mono to Flouro, a surgeons knot works fine and is quick/easy. For leader to braid, I personally like the Alberto knot but there’s half a dozen or more that will work. unless you’re planning on driving back to AZ with your fish, I would call fish processor now and make a reservation. Fishermans and 5 Star are the gotos… Feel free to PM me if you like, I am not an expert at anything, but I do several 3 day trips a year out of San Diego.

1 pointTook my son in-laws on a tuna trip a few years ago, they were green as could be. Bought a couple spinning rigs as I knew they would struggle with baitcasters. Rigged the spinners with 65# braid backing combined with 30# fluoro leaders. Son in-laws took #1 and #2 in the jackpot. 45# and 43# bluefin. Only downside to a "coffee grinder" IMO, is not being able to rest the rod on the rail to take a break during the battle. I've fished the Excalibur, good boat, sleeps better than most. On another note, practice your knots prior to your trip. You can thank me later

1 pointJust rent the first time. If you make a habit of doing it, then buying will be good. You'll get a chance to see how you like their grade of equipment, setup, rod and reel sizes, etc.

1 pointFor your consideration, a used Cabela’s Bighorn II tent. Measures 12’x14’, 8.6’ in center at tallest point. Includes screened windows and door, stove jack, and zippered floor stove panel. Known issues: Small holes in front door screen. Material around stove pipe jack is starting to degrade (see picture). Some small holes in floor (see pictures) that I just patched before putting this tent away. The patches and seam sealer are included. A few of the clips that attach the tent body to the center frame pole are broken. One is completely broken and another two are partially broken but operable. The tent still hangs from the center frame pole without any issues. Remember, this tent is used and has seen plenty of hunts. Pole bag, stake bag with plenty of stakes, and tent bag included. Instructions are printed on tag inside of tent bag. I recommend reading the directions, watching videos on Youtube, then setting this up a few times before actual use in the field. It’s a tough setup by yourself unless you know what you are doing. As pictured, the tent is not set up correctly because I was giving the interior a quick cleaning. Recently used for a week in Utah during a deer hunt. We experienced snow, sleet, and rain during this time. No known leaks. We slept two guys on cots with a cooking table and room for all our gear inside. Have slept up to four on cots in this tent but it gets a little tight. Add a stove or propane heater (neither are included) and you will be living like a king. $400 for the entire setup or make me an offer. I am only selling this because I’m upgrading to a larger Davis canvas tent. I live in Goodyear and am willing to drive as far north as Camp Verde or as far south as Casa Grande/Florence area. I’m not interested in any trades unless you have H1000 powder. Thanks, Matt
