12 pointsSo it has been quite a while since I've been very excited about pulling the trigger on Coues buck. A few days into our Mexico trip this year my buddy and his friend glassed up this buck and took this video. Only the 1st 30 seconds are worth much of this video but you can see the weird stuff on the bases We spent the day looking for the buck from about 8am to about 5pm with no sightings, I wanted to give the opportunity to Rob or Paul if we could, but both said if anyone saw the buck they should shoot the buck if at all possible. At about 5:15 with just a few minutes of shooting light my brother glassed directly into the sun about 1200 yards from where the buck was last seen only to pick him up staring at us at 400 yards about to walk out of our sight. Here is where the story started, I was kind of a nervous wreck when I'm normally pretty calm. Well I made a quick/rushed shot but it felt good and I saw the impact in the front shoulder What I didn't realize was that I hit him Infront of the shoulder in the brisket. With the help of everyhone we searched until dark, the next day I had the cowboys of the ranch and most of my friends helping to find the buck. We tracked him with some minimal hair and blood for almost 2 days before we had to leave for home. About a month a go I got these pictures from the Rancher. I hate wounding critters, but I hate wounding and not finding them even more. It wasn't how I wanted it to all play out but a pretty cool ending to a crazy cool buck. I was able to make it down this past weekend and pick him up and do a little turkey hunting Huge thanks to my long time friend Rob for glassing this buck up and going down to pick him up with me. Also a big thanks to my brother for going with me and finding him at last light and letting me shoot.

4 pointsNot bad, I only took one day since the priority was the deer. I made a follow up shot that damaged the fan with my broadhead so I decided to leave this one for the rancher and some day I'll get back down there to kill one to mount. For some reason the beards on our turkeys this year were shorter than in years past not sure what that was about.

4 pointsWent up tis last weekend and road to Hawley and Earl Park is open. Caught two browns over 5 lbs and probably 25 rainbows, all released back.

3 pointsThat is a crazy cool buck. Glad you were able to get some closure with the buck and bring him home.

3 pointsHad them going decently Friday morning for a bit. Saturday I shot a jake (my first turkey) at 530 am. Didn't have much gobbling after that, did call in two beardless jakes on Monday morning, but not much noise at all. (This was in unit 1).

2 pointsJust got back from Texas on a DIY. I was fortunate to smash the speckled trout and was blessed with a 20 inch trout. The redfiish bite was hot and got to tag a 29inch 8lb 14oz red. I did keep 2 other redfish a 22" and a 25" I attached pictures to share. Can't figure out how to rotate them

2 pointsJust a heads up. I tried ordering some 404 Jefferey brass today. Did a search and found only one place that showed they had any. Its Called Powder Valley. There is a legit company by that name but unfortunately there is a scammer using this same name. He first hint was they wanted me to send money through PayPal as a friend or family. They sent me a reminder text asking me to pay right away and clearly they didn't have a good grasp on the english language. I looked up the telephone number online and it showed LA. Not where Powder Valley is located.I sent a text back asking for them to call me as I was having problems sending money. I received a call from a heavy accented guy. I told him his website was a scam and he hung up immediately.

2 pointsI was able to take my son on his second youth turkey hunt this past weekend (last year being the first). After several close calls on the first day of the hunt with no shots fired he was able to connect on this tom on the second morning. The birds threw us a curve ball on the first evening and roosted in a different location several ridges away. From hunting this location in years past I knew where I wanted to get before first light and set up. The birds ended up being roosted a little farther than what I had thought but I still liked my chances and setup. There were several toms gobbling off the roost but you could hear the hens show up to pick them up. They were out of sight over a ridge or two. It sounded like they were starting to head the other way but luckily the boss hen was talkative and we got into a nice argument. After about 5 minutes of back and forth she decided to come kick my butt. And guess who she brought with her a strutting gobbling tom. My son made a great one shot kill to the head. I love it when a plan comes together. It is so fun and exciting to be able to share these experiences with my son, some of my favorite hunting memories.

1 pointCool. I fished for that stuff in Venice LA in march. Truly the best fishing I’ve ever had. We pounded the reds. My wife caught a 38”er and probably landed 50 over 30”. Unreal.

1 pointI've used Starline brass in 222 and 243. I've reloaded cases 6 times and they're still shooting great. I'm sure I'll get 10-12 firings out of the 222 but with all the case stretching, I doubt I'll get that out of the 243. I anneal after fireforming so that may help with the stretching in the 243. Excellent brass!

1 point29 is the unit I would want that tag in. I haven't hunt 29 in years, and only for deer, but I have seen Turkey there almost every time. I saw more turkey than deer.

1 pointI was able to call this bird into bow range (20 yards) this morning for my adult son. One arrow did the trick for his first turkey. Good times.

1 pointHere’s my 2 cents. I grew up in Casper and know WY antelope pretty well. Apps aren’t do until May 31. You will have much more info once the locals can get out and put eyes on the antelope heard now that the snow has/is melting. Wait till you have more info. It might be a good year to draw a tag from a pure application percentage point of view. Also, antelope get big around 3-5 years old. The winter die off may not affect that segment of the heard as much as older bucks and older does. This might be the year to draw a tag. If the fawn recruitment sucks and the does got hammered this winter, it may be 5-8 years before we see a bounce back in antelope populations. Population bounce back may not translate to a better chance on accomplishing your goal of getting a nice buck. Side note, If you decide to hunt around Casper I have a house there you can rent. Andy
