Been pretty busy but we had a fun HAM hunt. The piggies were very hard to find, but we glassed up a mountain lion, a coati and tons of deer. He was able to make a great shot at 35 yards with a .357 mag.

Yep they have a limit on powder but no limit on black powder. So someone could buy it all . I try to only keep 2 containers for myself and usually have one or two on hand for those hunters in need and offer them for what I paid at the time . If there wasn't a run on it every time it hit the shelves the prices might stabilize and not be so high.

With the elk/antelope deadline upon us I figured it would be a good time to make a post about my September elk hunt. Long story short I wanted to hold out for a better bull than I killed in 2017 so I was being a little picky. After a week of passing on a few bulls and not really seeing anything I was willing to shoot I decided to try some different areas. Blake had seen a straight 6x6 he guessed to be 350+ so I went into the area to try and turn him up. He also mentioned there was a big 5x6 in the area and to be on the lookout. We were able to find the 5x6 and after a couple blown attempts he made a mistake. We slipped in behind him pushing his cows out into the burn to feed and when he doubled back to chase off a smaller bull, we happened to be in between them. It was a chip shot at 43 yards and my arrow center punched him and he took off running. We trailed him for a little over a hundred yards and when we didn't find any blood we opted to back out to return the next morning. Not how I wanted it to go but that's just how it sometimes is. By far my best bull and I'm not sure I'll ever harvest a better one, but it won't be for lack of trying...

Tom Robinson died recently. If you had anything to do with archery in Tucson or Southern AZ you probably crossed paths with Tom at some point.

I have the same scope I bought off a member here probably four years ago. I went on Swarovski's website and ordered a custom turret for 168gr NLRAB which goes out to 625 yards. I have shot it to 425 and it is right there. It is on my 700 that I bought new in about 1992 when they first came out with a stainless composite offering and is my main big game hunting rig so I wanted a scope that was clear and light so it fit the bill.

Straight from the Odyssey Warranty document: "The warranty does not cover a Battery reaching its normal end of life which may occur prior to the warranty periods stated above. Depending on the application, a Battery can reach its normal end of life before the end of the Applicable Warranty Period. A Battery can deliver only a fixed number of usable amp-hours over its lifetime and is considered to have reached its normal end of life if the application uses up all of these amp-hours, regardless of the time the Battery has been in service. Therefore, Manufacturer reserves the right to deny a warranty claim if it determines the Battery to be at its normal end of life, even if the claim is filed within the Applicable Warranty Period." This is what they pulled after three emails and four phone calls to Odyssey's claims department. Yes, it did take that long to receive a response. So basically the above verbiage is a catch-all for any battery they decide they don't want to replace. Infuriating. So just want to make sure you all don't make my mistake and neglect the "fine print". With regards to the AGL charge rates, that's good advice. I only would like to point out that my Optimas over many years (also AGM) have always lasted. Kept hearing about a decline in quality and that is why I went to Odyssey. Big mistake!!

Yeah, those M70's are heavy for sure. Solid rifles though, especially the pre-64's like yours.

I don't own a Swaro (or vortex optics, lol) personally, but my close friend has a Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44 and that thing on his rifle is a laserpointer. The quick adjust turret points are very nice, they're color coded. He has them set to 200, 300, and 400, and then has his dopes in a book for adjustments farther than that. he can adjust from 100-400 yards in a matter of a second or two, very handy for hunting.

Beauty of a rifle. However, wood stock and light don't generally go together. GLWS

Thanks to the group of hunters working the ridge next to us . I was able to take this pig at less than 20 feet. We were working one side of the draw and they were on another every so often id glass up to see what they were doing and saw them guns out and went back to looking down our side . I just happened to look back up and saw them frantically waving and pointing. I picked up my 7-08 and worked down less than 10 feet and there they were . A big sow and two little ones came up and crossed the top. Behind them was another group and i got a shot 1st one hit back due to pigs moving but anchored the pig there . The follow up shot did the trick. My buddy got a hail marry last day last few minutes we could hunt shot . Working a high draw we had glassed the weekend before the hunt and saw pigs in .We didn't see them this time so I said hit the call and it got them running up the draw in front of us. He shot and missed the first group . I figure we are done but hit the call again and another group came out and up . At 167 the shot hit its mark. 3 hours later we were loaded up and on our way to camp. I got home at 10 pm Monday and was supposed to be up for work at 11 to start my day at midnight on Tuesday . I just took a extra day and called it good.

Releases will be coming from the Verde system long before the Salt, where spill will be minimal in comparison, if any. The Verde watershed has 600-700k acre-feet of water stored in current snow water equivalent models before this current weather system and there is 64,426 AF of storage available, per SRP's Daily Water Report. The Salt has 525-575k AF of SWE stored with 300,443 AF available.

The hurt one experiences by being out shot by a guy with a $240 vortex scope. It is very real. They say the cure is go buy a $2k scope and don’t shoot along side those pesky vortex sharp shooters

Friday morning we gave chase to a herd and they totally disappeared when we got to where they were. On our hike back to the glassing spot, my dad called and he had spotted a different herd and we started walking in that direction. We had a tough time getting a clear shot in the tall grass across the canyon, so we decided to stalk the herd like we were archery hunting. A couple pigs popped out but didn’t give us a shot and after following behind the herd for 10 min, one pig decided to stop and feed giving my wife a 49 yard shot. Hopefully the video works! Initial Review: EPL 4x16x44 MOA The scope showed up yesterday and I unboxed it this morning. Very nice overall on the packaging and feel, fit, finish. I took it with me to the range this morning but it was loose, not mounted to a rifle. I took a rifle with a Burris Veracity 3x15x50 to compare it too since that is about a $750-800 scope right now. I will say that after comparing them I do like the Arken alot and think it offers alot of nice features. I will also say that people who think the Arken is better than a $1200-1500 scope are not being honest with themselves. The Arken feels nice and sturdy and the adjustments are crisp and clean. I really do like the reticle in the scope, it reminds me of the MOA reticle I really liked in the 3x10 Nightforce SHV. The glass is nice and doesn't seem to distort even near the edges. That said the glass was not as good as the glass in the Burris Veracity IMO. The Burris is a 50mm, but the glass in it shows better/brighter colors and had a crisper image to me. The Arken EPL image was fine and I would not have had problems viewing and hitting target I don't think, but it wasn't as good. That said, the Arken EPL is a very nice scope for the price point I paid, and does punch above its price tag. I feel the glass is probably about the same as my Vortex Viper 6x24x50 HSLR roughly. The zero stop is very functional and the the turrets are nice. The reticle was very good was well for what I like which is a useful reticle that isn't to busy. Overall I think it is a very good buy for the money. I think it is probably worth something around the $650-750. Price range. I would love to compare it to a Viper 4x16x44 HSLR. I think they might be very similar. I am planning to put this on a .338 win mag so hopefully I will get a chance to put some rounds through it sooner than later.

The reservoir would have to be made 'upside down. ' (Hassayampa humor) Painted Rock comes to mind. If CA was concerned about addressing their drought, why haven't they been building reservoirs? Too distracted by giving illegals welfare and mandating electric lawnmowers?
