IMO hunting pigs while there is heavy rain is a waste of time. Hunting pigs right after a storm can be very productive. If its just stupid windy, traditional glassing may not be highly effective, look for washes/breaks from the wind and still hunt them or glass/move till you find them.

Almost a year ago and I finally got around to getting one put together. It's not perfect but what am I missing?

Like Adam previously stated not a coues but it was harvested with a specialty pistol. With 30 BP I finally drew an AZ desert bighorn sheep permit. I used a custom Remington XP-100 in 284 Winchester to harvest my ram at 157 yards.

Posting this for my pops. This rifle shoots lights out, has around 70 rounds through it, shoots factory 165, 168, half MOA. 2 mags, 2 aluminum bolt shrouds, 1 plastic, and brake. He wants to put together a 7mm PRC, reason for sale. Asking $1200, or would trade for a LA rem 700 magnum bolt face plus cash.

Not exactly the Vancouver metro area, but worth a thought. Vancouver is VERY expensive, in my opinion, even with the exchange rate in our favor. Fishing is better away from Vancouver. If you're driving and have the time check out the small towns of Tofino and Uclulet, BC on the Pacific side of Vancouver Island. Both have many day charter boats. You'll need to take a ferry from Horseshoe Bay ( just north of Vancouver) to Nanaimo BC, then drive across the island to the Pacific side. Can't recommend a charter, the one we used changed hands. Uclulet prices were a bit lower than Tofino. Tripadvisor.com ratings are worth a look. Timing your salt water trip depends on salmon runs. Kings (Chinook) run earlier in summer, Silvers ( Coho) later, Pinks both. There's some overlap. Halibut and Ling are around all the time. Expect rain, that's what it does, but the temperate rain forest is impressive. Bring your best rain gear.

I’m thinking some of you are tired of javelina pics by now. We lucked out this morning, parked the truck before sunrise and started glassing. By 830 a herd of javelina woke up and started to feed 300 yards away from us. We had to wait a bit, get the wind right and sneak over a hill to get an 80 yard shot. Another smoke pole javelina for Pops.

Amp extreme electric steps has been great. No issues and the extreme has several motors and made for the mud/ice/dust. Plus they fold away nicely and when open they are lower than the non folding steps.

I agree. The federal "wild horse and burro" act needs to be repealed and states should be allowed to manage them, including culling and/or allowing harvest by hunters.

The negative ecosystem effects of feral horses, burros, and to a lesser extent cattle, have been well documented and there is no sound reason why they should not be removed. (And I don't consider being "majestic" or a "symbol of the West" to be sound reasons.) I think letting individuals hunt them for their personal consumption seems like an elegant solution. It wouldn't cost the gov't money unless they wanted to issue tags and do check-ins or something like that. Even with that, the costs would be minimal. For some unknown reason, YouTube routinely suggests hunting video to me and I've seen a bunch from Australia where they hunt horses, cattle, and camels. And the camel back-straps they cook up over the campfire look dee-licious.
