With the elk/antelope deadline upon us I figured it would be a good time to make a post about my September elk hunt. Long story short I wanted to hold out for a better bull than I killed in 2017 so I was being a little picky. After a week of passing on a few bulls and not really seeing anything I was willing to shoot I decided to try some different areas. Blake had seen a straight 6x6 he guessed to be 350+ so I went into the area to try and turn him up. He also mentioned there was a big 5x6 in the area and to be on the lookout. We were able to find the 5x6 and after a couple blown attempts he made a mistake. We slipped in behind him pushing his cows out into the burn to feed and when he doubled back to chase off a smaller bull, we happened to be in between them. It was a chip shot at 43 yards and my arrow center punched him and he took off running. We trailed him for a little over a hundred yards and when we didn't find any blood we opted to back out to return the next morning. Not how I wanted it to go but that's just how it sometimes is. By far my best bull and I'm not sure I'll ever harvest a better one, but it won't be for lack of trying...

Some minor handling marks, but if wiped down with some cleaner it would look brand new. Fiber optic sight and sling added. Low round count, shot a few rounds of clays with it when there was still a range off the bee line and a couple of dove hunts. Comes with 3 chokes.

Dealing with AZGFD. Need some humor to help me calm down. I came up with this: Do you know why AZ hunters are so focused on hunting? After dealing with AZ Game & Fish one feels the need to kill something! 😁

Me and my mom got hit pretty good pulling into our driveway in a late 80s seville. Spun us 360. The car took it like a champ and we were fine. Looking back I kinda miss that car.

Don't phuck around, this guy is unhinged. Have him file an order of protection (restraining order). As I understand it you can file it but if dude wants to fight it he can show up and defend himself at the hearing. Whether the judge grants it or not does not matter, at least it's all on file. Tell the kid to keep his head on a swivel and good luck.

My son is in the middle of his first year of big game hunting. We were going to try to get him onto some pigs and have him take the first shot. Friday morning, the first spot didnt produce anything but deer and cattle. We changed locations and caught some pigs moving into a cut out of the wind. We made a big circle and found the pigs bedded down for the afternoon. We snuck into 45 yards and started our waiting game. No shots due to the pig pile. Shortly after 3 pigs came to our left, we had no clue they were there and got busted. All the pigs scattered, my son located a lone pig and took him down. Turns out it was a pretty tiny one 😂. All jokes aside, he was proud of his first muzzleloader harvest. Saturday we spent the day chasing pigs but kept getting busted or they would disappear as we got closer. The winds kept the pigs down low and out of sight. Sunday morning at 9, a herd was located far out in rough country. My pops is unable to do those kind of hikes these days so my son and I took off. We were able to get to 124 yards and take this older boar down and had a brutal pack out. We'll head out next week to hopefully locate pigs in a spot that my pops can hike in.

Don’t discount single shots too. CVA makes a pretty sweet compact break action for around $250

If somebody has a different caliber in mind they can purchase the barrel of their choosing, I will remove the 6mm barrel and subtract the cost of the 6mm barrel. I can also help install the new barrel

My friend at superstition creations uses a weasel or ring-tailed cat for his forms. He will cut the head off sometimes and change the position of the head , turn it a different direction etc...He has done a few that I know of. He has one he's doing for me now .I got in unit 24b.. This is him..He weighed about 35 pounds. Has a damb nice winter coat. Crossbow kill at 15 yards. I had to back up away from him to get a shot that wouldn't cut him in half. First one I ever saw. Now I see them often up there .

Any information from Outdoor Writer, Tony Mondile, or Bill Quimbly is concerned I say we are fortunate to have them as a member of cwt. They have more knowledge put together than most of us could ever think about having. They are my history mentors of this fine state and if you ever get a chance to spend a little time with either one of them it will be an honor you will never forget. TJ
