That's the shoot I am after too. I have no desire to sit in a blind for hours on end and dealing with the shitshow that is up north. Bison mounts look like cattle to me, so just a euro if it's a bull, but more than happy with some cow meat.

I would bet 80-90% of the bulls taken on late rifle hunts are under 300”. I think most guys have a tendency to call any 6 pt bull a 300” bull and are off by 20-40”. I also think most guys don’t care so there’s a higher percent of small bulls shot. I would agree that if you go out, hunt hard, and can pass small 6’s you can kill a 320-340 bull in any late hunt in the state. (Besides Forebee of course). This is what an actual 300” bull looks like I feel like people rarely score those small to mid size 6’s and just classify them based on how they look

Remington Model 700 Mountain 25-06 22" - $1500 $2000 Detachable magazine. This thing is a flat shooting tack driver. Lightweight at 8lbs 3 ounces with rings, scope, sling, and magazine as seen in photos below. This is my first rifle. It has a job to do, and it performs accurately every time. It is not a safe queen. It has seen its share of hiking and slayed many bucks. It could probably use a nice clean. If I touch it too much, I'll talk myself out of selling it because it's just gorgeous. It has some nicks and dings here and there on the stock. It has some scratches here and there on the barrel. The pictures I took aren't show off pictures. I wanted to show any and all blemishes. Leupold VX-3 Scope 4.5-14x40mm scope with scope caps. The rear scope cap button release broke off. still can open and close its just little magnets. The Sling I don't remember much about. It just says Hunter on it with a number: 27-138-2 1524 I'm located in Tucson, AZ This listing is for local/ in-state buyers. Local pickup. Cash only. No shipping to FFL.

With all these Northern storms we have been seeing, I decided to check out our snow pack. So far it looks promising. A little localized, but atleast it's good levels. Let's hope it keeps up and some of our lakes fill up. I would imagine Powell should get a pretty good bump too considering most of the area north of it is above 150% of typical snow pack at this time. https://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/ftpref/data/water/wcs/gis/maps/west_swepctnormal_update.pdf Hope I am reading that right. If anyone has another resource, please post it up.

I’ve got all Dewalt stuff but that’s only because I got started with them. I would go Milwaukee in a heartbeat if I could switch all mine. I do like the 60v Dewalt option though. Love their air compressor, have two lawnmowers, blowers, weed eaters, chain saws every drill saw, grinder etc they make. Honestly have no reason to prefer Milwaukee, just what I hear. I probably have 25-30 Dewalt tools and 10-15 batteries and never had an issue with any one of them and a lot of them ride around in my ram box year round, from 105 above to -40 here in ND.

I have a Milwaukee too for same reason and more than happy with it. Highly recommended too .

I run all Dewalt 20V. Works for drills, Sawzall, impact, chainsaw. Their chainsaw is super light and works well when packing our llamas or cutting trees out of the roads on the spring bear and turkey hunts. The ½" impact has worked well on all the truck and trailer tires.

Milwaukee m18 electric 1/2 and a Milwaukee compressor Is the only way to go.

Idk I didn’t weigh it. Was before I had a cell phone camera, I didn’t think anyone would believe me so I kept it.

For reference, this is a 260 bull. Still looks great and tasted even better

You need to keep in mind that we are spoiled here in AZ. Most people in the country would love to kill a 300" elk. There is a reason why the Pope and Young minimum is 260". 99% of hunters will never even get that. I get your point though, we do live in AZ so we can set our goals higher. Achieving them is another thing, especially with a bow. Nothing wrong with a 300" 6 x 6.

That's what I've done for years. My boy's call me a trophy spike hunter. Big congrats to the hunter.

if you are a resident you have a good chance to draw the Unit 23 late hunt with 10 points. But you need to be in at least decent shape or have some helpers because most bulls will be in difficult spots. Good optics would be preferable too.

AZ OTC should only be for residents. NR should have to draw at a VERY limited tag allocation. The mandatory harvest reporting should be for across the board, not just for archery hunters. How can we not mandatory harvest report for unit x that has 750 rifle deer tags for the general hunt?? That's a ton of lost data. The quota system is arbitrary. I hunt areas within a unit that Is already closed that I don't see people in. Multiple bucks running that country right now. I may get strung up on the forum gallows here for this next one but I would love to see a ruling put in place for only harvesting one buck during the archery deer rut hunts. Not the calendar year deal we currently have where you can kill 2 bucks. One in December and one in January when the year rolls over.

As a NR I will say I was well aware of the change. I received multiple emails and saw it on social media many times. This will without question go to a draw in the near future as all OTC quotas eventually do. It’s gonna put a lot of pressure on mid tier (4-12 point draw) tags when it does as NR that are accustomed to buying OTC and building points will burn their points and then start drawing the easy to draw OTC archery tags once they have.

    1. You have only yourself to blame 2. yeah they sold out that fast, idaho sold so many tags they crashed the system the first day. More people are hunting now, also when you take something away, a lot of times it triggers people to buy. 3. Thirteen miles is too far for a javelina.

Guys like you provide a positive respite from some of the keyboard warriors we have seen a rise in! This post brings back really good memories of my brother. He used an old green Circe call and we killed a lot of stuff together. Every time I open this thread I have a good memory of us. Thanks. I really appreciate the happy memories you are reminding me of.
