So the past year has been a real roller coaster. Last year my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and it has been super tough on my daughter and family in general. We struck out on all youth tags, but picked up a 3rd choice general hunt coues tag. I wasn't sure my daughter was ready or could handle the challenge. Long story short, I'd like to thank Kev for his help. He found this buck for us opening morning, in a location my daughter would be capable to make a decent shot, and we were able to make it happen. Seeing my daughter being herself again made this one of the most memorable hunts I'll have.

Was a tough hunt for us. We saw a total of one buck the entire hunt. I started this hunt with a target buck in mind that I got on cam last year, but not knowing if he was still alive this year, I wasn't overly optimistic about finding him. I didn't end up finding my target buck, but after hunting the entire hunt and not seeing a single buck I was definitely stoked to see this guy at first light this morning. My dad and I started out early and got onto a small hilltop in the dark. Right about first light spotted this guy. After the shot he ran and disappeared in some trees. Waited about a half hour to see if he might try to slip out and he never did. Feeling confident in my shot decided to go check things out. Getting close to the area he disappeared, he stands up , seeing only head and neck an off hand shot put him down.

What suds? Guy seems very cheery and puts an exclamation mark after everything. Maybe he was in pep squad? Idk.

You gotta have respect to get the password for the “non hunting political” stuff. Just remember to have respect. respect for the site, respect for the owners, respect for the mods, and respect for everyone will get you access.

That was a freaking blast man. I thought he was mid to high 70s from the truck. Always cool when they get bigger on the ground. Congrats again to her, she's a trooper!

They’re in the basement…along with most all republican/ conservative posts. I’m with ya on the party sensorship, they joined my comments on our feeble minded executive leader on another thread. Maybe Musk can buy CWT too?

Couple of variables. You didn't say if the Federal primers were 210M or 215M. If you went from a magnum primer down to a standard rifle primer then yes your poi is going to change. I'm guessing that your running about 60-70 grains of powder in that 7 mag. I wouldn't use anything but a magnum primer myself. You said that your using RL-22, that's all I use in my .270 and I've never had any problems with it as far as it being temp sensitive, but if you zeroed your rifle in July with the Rem primers and loaded up some with the Federal in October that might be your poi shift also. How far off was the poi shift between primers?

I know this isn't a Coleman, but I see Amazon has a Camp Chef at a deep discount. https://a.co/d/fDAlMO9 If this is something that is feasible, I'm willing to pitch in some funds to help out.

After striking out last year, I put in for and drew Wyoming again. This year I gave myself 5 days to hunt and arriving 2 days early to scout. The hunt again aligned with my son's fall break and he accompanied me on the hunt. I learned last year that you need to know where you want to be at sunup opening day and that anything easy access will have a ton of hunters. I found a spot on the map that was a peninsula of public land of about 2 square miles but required a brutal 3-4 mile hike to reach. I was worried about my son being able to do that hike, let alone day after day. Well on the first day of scouting we hiked in there an hour and a half before the sun rose and got there right at first light. Right off the bat we started seeing antelope. Within half an hour we saw about 50 in 5 different groups spread out across the public land. I knew this was where we wanted to be. No need to scout more so we spent the rest of the day and the next fishing. We hiked into that area Saturday, Sunday and finally connected on this buck on Monday, having this tough to reach spot all to ourselves. We had plenty of antelope at about 400-600 yards but I was shooting a pistol and my max range was 300 that I was comfortable with. I glassed him up bedded and snuck into 324 yards. I built up the dirt so my pistol was rock solid, aimed right where I wanted it. 1 shot and he never got up. About 34 miles total hiking in the trip. One of the hardest pack outs I've done but my son wanted to help so he carried the skull out. When we arrived back at the truck there was another group parked by us loading up a buck they killed. They asked asked how old my son was and said they watched us from a high ridge for most of our pack out and wanted to treat him to ice cream in town, to which we obliged . They said none of them wanted to hike that far and a 6 year old showed them up. Another great hunting trip with my son by my side.

I would recommend Mike at A Head of the Game. He is in the west valley and does a great job. He has done seven animals for me and multiple for my friends. He does a great job, is timely, and his price is fair.

I'm all in on making entire units primitive consecutive years. To reduce the success rate and increase the age class. Personally, it seems hunting these days for many is nothing more than long range target shooting. Primitive seasons would bring actual stalking of game back into the mix.

I agree. Fact is public land is just that. Its lazy to sit on somebody else's work but by no means illegal. First come is how it works no matter what. If somebody is there first you leave and go to plan B.
