Note that with turkey, the 20% is by unit so if the are just a few tags in the unit, ONLY ONE TAG goes to highest bonus point. Wish they did like sheep and considered all units. Took me 26 bonus points to finally draw Goulds.

Surprised that there hasn't been any 'trophy' pics posted from the past weekend's early hunts. My crew did our usual hunt and ended up killing a couple. Had a couple of old friends come in from out of state to join my son and I & some local friends. Buddy from Utah killed a 2x3 and my son killed a nice 3x3 with good eye guards. Was a great time! Anyone else have some luck on the early hunts? S.

Here is the Coues deer I was able take with my statewide tag with the help of Kory and Bobby of A3 . There knowledge of the area and with the deer was truly amazing. Once we found this deer they spent hours breaking it down. It was decided that we would try and harvest this deer. We had to relocate to find him again and after 8 hours of waiting he finally reappeared just before dark . Now he was with another buck of similar size but was a typical 3x3 with amazing eye guards. To be able to have two 130 inch bucks standing next to each other I thought I was seeing things. Now I had to make a decision it was an easy one for me. I like em trashy . After we ranged him at 600 yards I let my Axis works 280 AI do the rest. It was now almost dark Kory and I hiked down to the deer When I put eyes on him I was speechless it was bigger than we had thought . I told Kory I was going to do a life size mount so he was very careful field dressing the deer. He then proceeded to load the deer into his pack whole it’s a pack that he has designed and just now starting to sale it was his smaller one about 3200 CI it was amazing all of the room it had not to mention it’s the best built pack I have ever seen I am getting one. His company name is Desert Mountain Outdoors Well after many miles of packing we got back to camp about midnight what an epic day. Still in shock of being able to take a deer like this thanks to A3 and there amazing guides Kory and Bobby.

Lots of the people on this thread have passed away or are no longer here. Good read either way.

I have a hard time just getting rid of these. I have two Tasco scopes and one Simmons Scope. They are free to anyone who wants them. I am located in Safford or I will ship them at your expense.

As pointed out, the reports have been a little slow, so I decided to take a break from school work and type up a short report. Tried a new unit with my hunting partner, it was awesome. His old stomping grounds that he has killed some great deer from. We were not over run with giant bucks, but had a great time and I managed to fill my tag on a cool buck on Tuesday the 25th. We hiked into an area and were sitting there glassing. I got a little chilly so I stood up and put on my light jacket. When I did that, I had two does staring at me at about 150 yards. Went back to glassing. About 30 minutes later, I pull my eyes away from my binos and see two bucks at about the same spot. "Shooter buck!" I say to Jim, as I stuff an ear plug in my ear and grab the 28. The buck is only 138 yards away and sees me moving, but there is a bush in front of me where I cant use my bipod, so I hold the rifle freehand and let it rip. I see him turn after the shot and take a few steps so I let another rip. I only had two down in the gun so pull a 3rd from the saddle bag and drill him. It happened fast so I wasn't 100% sure of the shots, but saw a bush shaking for a few seconds after the last shot so I was confident he was down. While reviewing what happened, I saw a cactus that appeared to be red and glistening. Sure enough, covered in blood. When we got to the blood, it looked like someone poured a 5 gallon bucket. Somehow, this buck took the 180 Hybrid from my 28 through both shoulders with a massive hole in his chest and made it 30-40 yards before going down.

Totally agree. No turkey tag for me this year but one of my sisters lives in Colorado and has turkey come through all the time so I am looking into getting a Spring Archery Tag and shoot one from her porch. LOL

I would have thought you would have drawn 34A but in looking at the report two applicants on the first hunt should have had 1 more point than you. If you would have applied for the second hunt in 34A it would have been between you and one other guy with the same number of points, 50% chance of drawing. I helped relocate some birds into 34A 10 to 15 years ago.

Our state has some of the biggest pussys that control access. Few drops of rain or snow and all the fwys and roads get closed. We spend so much money getting hikers out, we should be afforded the same opportunities. Death valley flooded, no biggie. AZ needs to stop babysitting and let people learn how to drive on wet roads or snow. Our taxes pay for being rescued, we need to utilize the system!
