Helped a friends boy get this ram on his 14th birthday! 2nd and last sheep hunt of the year (for me) up in Oregon, just thought I’d keep the excitement up for guys with Nov/Dec Ram tags! He green scored 169 even.

Rough green score 115 2/8" my picture taking skills are not the best of dead animals. It's body was absolutely giant with about an inch of fat all the way around.

Finally got a solid photo of a mule deer buck and he was still in full velvet. Should be stripping any day now.

After 2 years of preparation everything came together to harvest the ram of a lifetime in Alaska an 11 year old monarch! Hardest hunt I have ever done both physically and mentally. My pack was 60 lbs for the first 6 days sleeping bivvy style wherever we ended up each night. Out of 9 days it rained, sleeted, or snowed 6 of them. Ram down morning of day 7 and my pack went to 100+ pounds hiking 27 hours over 3 days to get out of the mountains. Truly an incredible adventure!

I have the perfect varmint rifle for somebody, maybe small deer with correct shot placement. Marlin 1895M chambered in .450 Marlin. 18.5" ported barrel, 4+1 mag capacity Weighs 7lbs, 1 oz, According to the serial number, rifle was produced in 2000. It does bear the "JM" stamp where the receiver meets the barrel. Good condition. This rifle is not perfect. It has been used. The right side forearm and buttstock show some scratches. Some freckling of the bluing on the the rear sight. I am including closeups and can provide more pics if needed. $950 FTF or trade Shipping available at cost. Catalina/OV/North Tucson

It all started a few years back when both my boys drew this same tag. My older boy James tagged out at first light opening day, leaving us with the rest of the hunt to focus on getting Darren on one. Well he had several opportunities but just couldn’t close the deal. Fast forward to this year Darren wanted redemption, unlike the previous tag this hunt started out slow. It was hard to locate elk with crummy weather ,so we called on our “ace in the hole” Nate who was a huge help before , and he came through for us again locating a small herd. We got to within 350yds and Darren let the 270wsm bark, we hear the “thwack” and knew right away it was a hit. The cow drops and we think she is done, but then she stands back up and we see that the shot was in the front shoulder but a little to far forward. We decide to back out and spent the entire next day tracking her with no luck other than finding the blood trail and where she bed the night before, we tracked her into a huge canyon for about 1 1/2 miles from where she was bedded. Two days later we got into another herd with the bulls having a screaming contest. And we were able to get 120yds from one of the cows Darren let her have it and she didn’t make it 50yds and crashed! Check out the video I made of the hunt. I just started uploading to this channel, hopefully there’s more to come.

Success! It was only a spike, but with a handgun they are all trophies to me. There are very few bucks to be found this year. I wonder what became of the four multi pointed bucks that I spotted on Columbus day?

When I see stuff like this it reminds me why I am so thankful our founding fathers had the foresight that they did. Simply genius.

I’m guessing they don’t have HAM hunts?

That’s very nice of you. It might be hard to get rid of it even though it’s free and in good shape. It’s not the grey color that everyone has to put in their house because they saw it on tv.

After twenty years of watching me leave to hunt and fifteen of me taking my three boys hunting, she was finally ready to go. Our last headed to college this fall and I guess she felt this was her time. She’s a lefty which meant new rifle. She got her Christensen Arms 7mm mag dialed in and I had her shooting to 500 fairly quickly. She drew a tough unit with only 15 tags but I’d seen elk in one canyon pretty often in Jan OTC deer so I was hoping they’d be their when is was warmer. Pre scouting showed they were there but bear hunters and early hunts had them holding in deeper canyons. After four days of hiking and glassing our work paid off we picked them up mid day but they pegged us and pushed a mile back. I sent my boy after them to keeps eyes on from a distance and we circled around behind them but they didn’t flop over to where I thought they would. My son watched them bed in thick juniper at three so we backed out again and circled back to where we thought they’d pop out at sun down and move across a ridge. At 4:30 two hunters we didn’t know were right below decided they’d had enough and packed out to their truck and left. Good luck for us. At 5:00 they popped out like we thought and moved across an open ridge. We cut the distance to 600 yards by 5:45 and got her setup. So funny because game time was much more stressful then practice shooting but she held it together First shot was back a little and the elk just stood there as the Barnes passed right through (I’m on the fence on this bullet performance). She was at a steep angle so my bad for not adjusting her point of aim. I adjusted her turret down a bit and next shot punched through the shoulder and back into the boiler room. Elk fell back and was done. Nice steep climb to the elk but easy pack down. She did great. So proud of her. Never complained and carried her own gear and rifle. Thanks to my son who works at GoHunt for some new gear for us and for his work on the spotter. She’s hooked and still has a grin on her face.

Your kids first hunt? What if they where his binoculars that was lost.. would you want some one to sell them To some cheap butt that would rather benefit off of someone else's loss then to bye his kid a pair like a good person would? Perhaps if you just mentioned that your kid is going on his or her first hunt. And needs a pair of binoculars.. I know for a fact that someone on here would hook your kid up . Where you located and when does your kid need them? I've got several different pairs I can give you a pair if needed .
