Rough green score 115 2/8" my picture taking skills are not the best of dead animals. It's body was absolutely giant with about an inch of fat all the way around.

Thanks for the psa, but it can be both. This kid watched this buck for two years, cut a trail on a hillside that I am still feeling two days later. Has hours of video of it. Slept a quarter mile away from it. Put it to bed and most importantly worked for it. You can play a game and win on more than one level.

Finally got a solid photo of a mule deer buck and he was still in full velvet. Should be stripping any day now.

Not discounting any work he put in to get a great buck. But if he'd done all that and still didn't get it, for whatever the reason, he didn't lose. The fact he was willing to put in that work shows he's a winner no matter the outcome. The work put in is a testamemt to the character of that young man. Congrats to the young man on a buck anyone would be proud of.

Took my daughter out to look around last weekend. There was a good storm that made the washes run the afternoon before so no deer or deer tracks to be found. We found a couple coveys of quail and I shot 6. I could’ve shot more but the population is so poor this year I chose to let the rest be. Had I been solo I wouldn’t have shot any but my little girl wanted to eat a few for dinner. Speaking of eating, we cooked some hot dogs together over a fire for lunch and just enjoyed being in the desert together! I am so happy she enjoys the outdoors and I cherish our time out there, It just blows me away how fast our kids grow. hopefully, some of you have been out and finding some good bucks.

It all started a few years back when both my boys drew this same tag. My older boy James tagged out at first light opening day, leaving us with the rest of the hunt to focus on getting Darren on one. Well he had several opportunities but just couldn’t close the deal. Fast forward to this year Darren wanted redemption, unlike the previous tag this hunt started out slow. It was hard to locate elk with crummy weather ,so we called on our “ace in the hole” Nate who was a huge help before , and he came through for us again locating a small herd. We got to within 350yds and Darren let the 270wsm bark, we hear the “thwack” and knew right away it was a hit. The cow drops and we think she is done, but then she stands back up and we see that the shot was in the front shoulder but a little to far forward. We decide to back out and spent the entire next day tracking her with no luck other than finding the blood trail and where she bed the night before, we tracked her into a huge canyon for about 1 1/2 miles from where she was bedded. Two days later we got into another herd with the bulls having a screaming contest. And we were able to get 120yds from one of the cows Darren let her have it and she didn’t make it 50yds and crashed! He was still in velvet and 3 other bucks we saw were also still in full velvet. Should be coming off any time. He was bedded down. He thought he was hidden so just froze.

He's a cool buck. He knows deer season is 2 weeks away and had no reason to run today.
