Maybe we just do away with guilds and go back to hunting for fun? And if you “didn’t have time to scout “ it’s because your just not that into hunting

I’ve spent a lot of time and money the last 5-10 years hoping to kill a big coues deer with my bow.. with the camera ban it seemed like it definitely wasn’t going to happen. The heat wave the last week I figured sitting water would pay off so I spent 5 days on tank with the most sign in the area hoping it would pay off and it did. This buck came in completely silent and by himself at 38 yards. He started broadside when I shot and nearly turned 90 degrees by the time the arrow reached him but it went in at a good angle and caught his vitals and ended in his spine. I knew he was big but couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how heavy he was..

I wanted to give an update since it seems nobody ever does after asking for help on a hunt. Anyways, I didn’t kill a coues. Saw a lot of mulies, a lot of elk. Was relieved and a bit surprised I only saw hunters on the road. While I was out hiking and glassing I didn’t see anybody. If I was to do this again, I would spend more time north and I would hunt bears with the idea that I’d shoot a deer if I happen to get a chance.

i have taken a serious look at my stash of primers and identified several thousand that I can do without over the next several years. Since primers seem hard to come by, I want to try and spread this around as much as possible, so only one lot per member for now. Lot #1: CCI #200 Large Rifle - 775 count $75 SFP Lot #2: CCI #34 Large Rifle Military - 700 count $70 SOLD Lot #3: Winchester WLR Large Rifle - 900 count $90 SPF Lot #4: CCI #250 Large Magnum Rifle - 1,000 count $100 SPF Lot #5: Federal #215 Large Magnum Rifle - 670 count CCI #250 Large Magnum Rifle - 100 count Winchester WLRM Large Magnum Rifle - 100 count Price for all: $100 SPF Remington 9&1/2 M Large Magnum Rifle - 100 count Remington 9&1/2 Large Rifle (Non-Magnum) - 100 count Not all primers in Lot 5 are shown in pictures. The first "I'll take it" in this thread trumps any and all text messages or PM's. No back-door deals where other members can't see what is going on. Not looking for trades at this time. I live in N Phx / Scottsdale area near 56th St. and 101 Loop. PM for my cell number if you have questions or wnat to talk.

Had my dogs out scouting with me for an Elk tag when we came across a meadow heading back to the jeep when I stepped a foot or so away from a rattler. Luckily my pups (off leash) took a different path ahead of me. He was some what coiled up but never rattled.

I'm sure they do. I'm not trying to give you junk, but if you go out into the "wilds" of Arizona and feel lost without a cell phone, stay home (this is in general - not a shot at you). Christ - except for wilderness areas you have roads every 1/4 - 1 mile. Sun rises in the East - figure out where north is. Hard to get lost, but I hope you experience it. As Pat McManus wrote - the stationary panic is the best option)). A holy shoot survival pack is about 3 - 5 lbs, and that is with good food. Water - well, figure that one out. I've always hunted to get lost. Have been a time or 2. Also bagged some critters.

@HJH Great info, but might want to sanitize these emails, not sure they want their .mil emails and cell phones on a public site.

My friend, you did the right thing to report your kill. I know it sucks to get bad info when you are trying to do everything right. In this day and age, hunters ethics are in question, and there is no doubt in my mind that you had nothing but the best intentions in your mind! We learn new lessons everyday. Put this one in your bag of tricks, and preach to anyone that will listen to do the their best to learn all the regulations. Maybe all you lost was a few dinners, and pride. Well, if you ask me, you can walk tall, you have admitted mistakes, and learned. Hopefully, you have enlightened other fellow members to make double check their hunts because there are many that would have put meat in the freezer, and not said a word.
