Wasn't shed hunting but I find half my sheds just being in deer country, messing around.

I was lucky enough to obtain a governors tag that starts August 15 with all the early rain it should make for an amazing season

I’m scouting the unit where I have a September ML tag, beautiful country, rugged and steep. All the elk I’m seeing are either on private or 10,500 and up. Tons of bear sign so I’ll be buying the $100 add on tag. Sharing a few pics, arrow pointed to where I’m seeing elk above tree line, few others just under. Hiking is tough, I have a cabin at around 8800 but once you hit 10K to hike things change quite a bit. i got back to the truck and a marmot was under the hood chewing on the firewall which was spooky when I popped the hood. Fortunately no wiring.

I spotted it from the trail as I was riding my quad to work. As I was picking it up, an inebriated, lost, retired gentleman in a 35' motorhome stopped to ask directions. It's only 9am, drunk. If you've been to Anderson Mill, it's no place for motorhomes. I knew the fellow he was looking for and tried to tell them how to get there but this guy's wife wanted to argue about where they were. Meanwhile the drunk RVr told me a story about getting a flat from running over a shed. Strange morning.

OP wants preference point system bc he cant draw the strip or sheep tag and its not fair. But somehow his kids have managed 2 or so Antelope tags.

My guess would be, tomorrow. Edit: Tomorrow being, Monday. Double edit: Monday is a holiday. Stupid Brain!

Yeah all the old timers up here are a little worried. I sure hope it continues.

Found this whitetail shed while out scouting in 6A this weekend. Any idea how old it is? It has some brown around the base and the white areas still feel pretty smooth. My guess is that it wasn’t shed this winter but the winter before? Just curious what your thoughts are

the "system" you want is a preference point system and will kill new hunter recruitment.... try telling your 10 year old they dont get to deer hunt till they're in their twenties so some old guy can go first. Everyone has a chance with our bonus point system, and therefore everyone and their brother applies. I have 6 points and didnt draw a turkey tag.... it is what it is. I used to draw a spring tag every year, until our state population exploded. Same with archery bull tags. If you like the preference point system, go to the states that have it, or start applying there. Every applicant has a chance, and as such some hope of drawing each and every draw.

I take it you didn’t get drawn this year? Lol No way I’ll sign that. I think AZ has the best bonus points/random draw set up going. Maybe you should learn how to play the draws better? It took me a while but in my little family we draw more tags than we can handle most years between a few states and we draw good hunts and kill good mature animals. Leave AZ draw alone and figure something out if you want to go hunting! It seems to me that the dude that really want to go hunting and kill quality animals have figured out a way to do it year in and year out. We all know the type of hunters I’m talking about. Some dudes are straight up killers. They aren’t just sitting around bitching about not getting drawn.

AZ is an 80/20 split. You clearly don’t understand how the draw works. Do some research before you pop off next time.

You do have a better chance. If AZ worked the way you are suggesting, you'd probably never get to hunt in your life time. Do you realize how many people have applied for tags before you ever did? Our state and game animals can't support the system you are wanting. The current way its done, gives you a far better chance of getting a tag. Apply for tags and be happy when you draw them. Hunting in this state has changed a lot in the 20 years I've been applying for big game. Its only going to get worse. More people wanting more hunting and the game can't keep up.

Not even remotely close to the bonus pass for anything. You haven’t waited in line nearly half as long as others. You have the same odds in the random draw as everyone else. Learn to hunt better and you can kill the same quality in easy to draw every year units as the trophy units just takes more work. This crybaby BS is quite funny.

Dude no… I think you should probably research how the draw works again in regards to who/how the bonus pass works , and how the 10% non res part works. 10% do not automatically go to non res, it’s a cap not an allocation . And the bonus pass is exactly people who have most points getting tags

Lance, nice of you to pass it on. My kid and her fiance( now husband ) rented a ton of stuff, other wise it would all have been in my garage. That was a dream day for me last year as the father of an only daughter, getting to walk her down the aisle to a man I actually like and respect. Hopefully your relationship with the new SIL is the same as mine.
