1 pointVery nice Kimber Montana that has about 200 rounds down the pipe. Gun comes with a Leupold 20 MOA rail and didn't like the bland gray paint of the original stock so I gave it a paint job. Has 3 coats of clear coat. Great gun, just need to fund another project. Trigger has been set right at a crisp 1.75 lbs. $950.00 Model 8400 rifles chambered for WSM cartridges feature free-floated 24-inch match grade barrels, chambers and triggers. Barreled actions are bedded on twin aluminum pillars permanently bonded into the stock, and recoil lugs are glass bedded for both strength and accuracy. Classic, Classic Stainless, Classic Select Grade and SuperAmerica models feature properly shaped classic walnut stocks with hand-rubbed oil finish and hand-cut checkering. Montana models are hard-core mountain rifles with stainless steel barreled actions and Kevlar-carbon fiber stocks. Straight combs and Pachmayr® Decelerator® pads dramatically reduce felt recoil. Made entirely in the Kimber factory, the Model 8400 is the finest production sporting rifle available today.

1 pointTony Mandile was a long-time contributor to this forum. He passed away yesterday morning from complications from COPD, Covid and an infection he got while at the hospital. His wife, Ellen, also got sick about the same time and spent time in the hospital, but is recovering at home. His family says he did not wish to hold a service, but I wanted to share with you all some more about his background. Tony went by the handle Outdoor Writer in this forum as well as other hunting forums. He made a living as a professional write for almost 40 years and he was a wealth of knowledge about the outdoors. I enjoyed my conversations with him and he will be missed. Tony and his wife attended some of our CWT campouts so many years ago. In addition to being a hunter, he was an outstanding photographer and he enjoyed cooking some excellent meals, which he often shared on Facebook. Many of you have enjoyed the book he co-wrote with Duwane Adams, "How to Hunt Coues Deer". He hunted and fished in 39 states and 10 Canadian provinces. He also hunted and fished in Africa, New Zealand and Mexico. Mandile began a part-time writing career in 1969 and has been a full-time freelance outdoor writer/photographer for 38 years. His 30-year active membership in the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) included three years on the board of directors. He also served on the board of the Western Outdoor Writers (WOW) and the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), which he helped create in 2005. He was a contributing editor for ARIZONA HUNTER & ANGLER magazine for 10 years, and wrote seven years as the Arizona Editor for OUTDOOR LIFE magazine. Mandile wrote his book -- HOW TO HUNT COUES DEER -- with noted guide Duwane Adams in 2003, and the Arizona Game & Fish Commission selected him as "Outdoor Writer of the Year" for 2011. More than 2,100 of his articles and 1,300 of his photos (50 covers) have appeared in OUTDOOR LIFE, FIELD & STREAM, SPORTS AFIELD, CABELA'S OUTFITTER JOURNAL, PETERSEN'S HUNTING, PETERSEN'S FISHING, AMERICAN HUNTER (NRA), DEER HUNTING, ROCKY MOUNTAIN GAME & FISH, CALIFORNIA G&F, WASHINGTON-OREGON G & F, ARIZONA HIGHWAYS, NORTH AMERICAN HUNTER, WHITETAILS UNLIMITED, NORTH AMERICAN WHITETAIL, OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHERS BIBLE, PENNSYLVANIA ANGLER, ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPORTSMAN, WESTERN OUTDOORS, BOWHUNTING WORLD, SOUTHWEST SPORTSMAN, SAFARI, ARIZONA WILDLIFE VIEWS, ARIZONA HUNTER & ANGLER, OUTDOORS UNLIMITED, several books and a few dozen other outdoor, conservation and travel publications. Rest in Peace Tony.

1 pointWell this year had two firsts for my boy. He drew his first archery javelina tag and his excitement began. After track practice he would come home and shoot his bow to knock the rust off since he had not been shooting it in a while. When we were able to get out in between track practices and meets, he shot his first javelina at 9am. We ended up stocking into 20 yards and waiting for the two pigs to come out of the brush to try to get a shot. After 10 minutes the pigs ended up feeding towards us. We waited them out and the bigger of the two walk out at 10 yards. Curtis ended up drawing his bow while the javelina was behind the last bush. After 3 long minutes of holding at full draw the boar walked into the gap and boy made a really good shot. We watch the boar go down after about 15 yards. After lots of smiles and a big hug we went and got his first javelina and first kill with a bow. Made a ton of memories that day we will not soon forget. Bonus picture of the last 8 inches of his broken off arrow in inside the ribs.

1 pointThe demonizing of Law enforcement has emboldened the radical population. The ultimate problem is over population which causes more competition for status. The teachers union is huge and problematic for schools. They dont want to lock the doors and have guns. What happened to plane hijacking? Gave Pilots guns and Locked the doors. What happened when they banned alcohol? The criminals had a field day. And it made criminals out of honest people. When are we going to have common sense people laws, and enforcement.

1 pointWe as gun owners and 2A supporters need a seat at the table when whatever new laws that are coming will be formulated. We as a nation have a problem and as much as we would like to say "hey we did not create this mess so we do not need to give an inch" is a recipe to get intolerable laws. We now have warped and dangerous 18 year olds that can legally pass a background check and buy weapon that allows them to go on murderous sprees. Could they cause as much damage with a six gun and a bag of speed loaders? Could, but not as likely. A bolt gun? Again without a bag of 3-10 round magazines not as likely to cause near the damage. I see no loss of rights to raise the age for purchasing a semi auto detachable magazine fed handgun or long gun of 9mm Luger power or higher. Also make any private sale of described semi autos be required to go through an FFL background check. Right now I would not sell and AR or a handgun without a background check because of the liability involved. Is it gun owners fault? NO Is it the guns fault? NO Should we give up rights? NO What is required is helping to shape laws that can help slow the school carnage while at the same time insisting that other steps will be required. School need better security because who knows what new and deadly schemes these murderous youngsters will come up with. There is also the whole other issue of "mass shootings" that are purely cold blooded criminal activity that now is growing because Law Enforcement is being undermined. I would want written into any new law that we have the right to be armed and whatever rules that go into place to ensure weapons not get into the wrong hands is not a total cure but a partial piece of the puzzle.

1 pointThis chit didn't happen when I was in school. There also wasn't Facebook, twatter, ticwhater, or any of this crap out there. Kids had respect for their parents. Kids worked. Things were expected of them. Xbox and playstations weren't the babysitter. No phones tablets or any of that garbage. We all had 12 gauges in gun racks in unlocked trucks in the parking lot at school. Nobody worried about this. People quit raising their children and let society, social media, and video games do it for them these days. But what do you expect when there are about 58 different genders to identify as?

1 pointI hate to be a conspiracy theorist. How many mass school shootings under trump? Maybe someone can fill me in.

1 pointIn this image, the milky way arches over Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte, Lee Mountain, Gibraltar, and Twin Buttes near Sedona. I had been wanting to make this night panorama for a few years, and finally spent a few hours in the dark. This is a blend of about 9 images for the starry sky, and about 9 exposures for the mountains taken about 45 minutes after sunset so some detail could be captured with less noise. The native file is about 27x54" without any enlargement. After a series of images to stitch into a long panorama was shot, the night was ended with this single exposure. The light on Courthouse Butte is due to the lights of the Village of Oak Creek Nikon D810, 24mm, f/2.8, ISO 6400, 20 sec.

1 pointI've worked with two of these over the years. The tolerances of each assembly was as tight and fine as I've seen on a production rifle. And when it came to developing loads, the first was a consistent 1/2" shooter and the second did even better. Good luck with the sale!

1 pointDoug always has the coolest pictures and it reminded me of a neat sequence of photos my buddy caught of me stalking a bedded mule deer buck for a picture. Im a very new photographer but I am enjoying it when I can. Jeremy was couple hundred yards away and I was able to get within about 50 yards of the buck. My cousin and friend Jeremy took these 2 pictures and the last is the picture that I took.
