My first year predator hunting, Had no spots and no experience, so after picking my uncles brain, lots of miles on the truck and getting a fox pro for my 17th bday I got a few predators thinned out. Never ended up getting my goal of a bobcat or lion but Now I have a life long obsession when I got no tags or hunts going on.

You got to figure that around the turn of the century (1900) that bears were at a low ebb out west. Why? Because stockmen, sheep or cattle, rode horseback armed and worked the range. Either working cows out of line camps or sheep men with the herds, any bear sighted was shot and no one cared. Stockmen would kill game for the meat because sheep and cows were money. Also market hunters shot the heck out of deer and elk to sell venison to the miners. Back then bears that did not get shot had very few elk or deer to pray on. Once regulated hunting came in and deer elk numbers went up and bear and cougar hunting became controlled their numbers began to grow again. Now a young bear is hard pressed to find his own territory, plenty of mature boars to push youngsters to the fringe of optimal habitats.

I really want to get into it. Pretty intimidating and I got no where to do it without mom getting mad lol. I do skin the tails out, soak them in denatured alcohol and hang them by gluing spent shotgun shells in the bases and I hang them in my room.

The foot pedal is about 23 feet from machine. There is a plug in the middle for plugging in a wireless, at least I think that’s what it’s for?

Nope, apparently not all of them. Investigation on this latest one continuing so maybe will change, but initial report is that impairment doesn't appear to be a factor in this latest accident. (I'm guessing authorities would have done some sort of standard sobriety screening/checking of the boat operator(s).) Regarding the four recent drownings, who knows.... For sure alcohol can/will impair judgement and physical abilities. Not sure we'll ever know to what extent it was a factor with those four. Swimming across a backyard pool is one thing, swimming across a much further stretch of open water is entirely different. Tough deal.

Blowing and swirling all night until this morning. I would have gone out this morning but the way my kayaks strap down I would have had to unload everything in the truck to get them off. I'm looking at new ways to have the bed loaded and still be able to access the kayaks. I strap down the front to tie down points at the front of my bed and with my rack I have no way to reach in to un strap. I'm thinking about keeping my RZR and getting a jumping jack. That way the bed will be more accessible and I can bring all the toys. Still, a weekend out of the valley is a good weekend.

Thank you for starting this tread. As the wildlife manager/ Field Supervisor in Unit 3C for 26 yrs. I saw the end of the horse capturing that the Heber Ranger (Black Mesa) Dist was doing, and the results. It saddens, and angers me to see what these horses have done to the habitat in not only that unit, but also Unit 1. Specifically, the Kettel Holes area. that area has been decimated and all those meadows have been converted from grass land community to noxious weeds. Any business in the white mountains that supports the horses should defiantly be boycotted, especially by hunters, or anyone interested in sound forest management. There is no place on public land for even one feral horse. Besides the habitat issues, thats a lot of high-quality protein on the hoof, that could feed a lot of people!

While fighting the wind last Saturday looking for deer I turned my attention to the cliffs and found 8 desert bighorn sheep, 4 of them being rams. I’m not a sheep expert, but one of them seemed to be a real tank! I was able to watch them for about 2 hours. They are such amazing animals. Totally made my day. Video was taken with my phoneskope through my Zeiss Conquest 10x42 at 1040 yards. Video is a little shaky due to the wind. Hopefully the quality isn’t diminished during the upload.
