Thank you for starting this tread. As the wildlife manager/ Field Supervisor in Unit 3C for 26 yrs. I saw the end of the horse capturing that the Heber Ranger (Black Mesa) Dist was doing, and the results. It saddens, and angers me to see what these horses have done to the habitat in not only that unit, but also Unit 1. Specifically, the Kettel Holes area. that area has been decimated and all those meadows have been converted from grass land community to noxious weeds. Any business in the white mountains that supports the horses should defiantly be boycotted, especially by hunters, or anyone interested in sound forest management. There is no place on public land for even one feral horse. Besides the habitat issues, thats a lot of high-quality protein on the hoof, that could feed a lot of people!

Thought I would post some of my 21-22 season. Overall was a good season as I did not get out much due to being sick.

The Aspen Lodge in Alpine AZ has been purchased by a California couple about 2 years ago. They have become the epicenter of support for leaving the feral horses that have invaded the Apache forest alone. We, as hunters recognize the destruction that the horses have caused all across the state, but this business has refused to acknowledge the damage the horses have created and have welcomed the Salt River Wild Horse Management group to their facility. They are actively supporting leaving the horses alone and letting them continue to breed and multiply. There are other businesses where we as sportsmen can spend our dollars. It is my hope that word of their ignorant support of feral horses becomes a business detriment to them. If you are planning summer trips, a lodge to spend your evenings in during hunts.......Locate another business. This has been verified and documented by a number of people so I am not stretching the truth in any way. Please spread the word! Hospital bills are getting paid lol! But I also have my house on the market and except to make some pretty good money off of it. So me and the wife agrees to buy one splurge item before we roll the rest into a home build.

I would buy a Tikka T3x lite. Especially if you are just going to shoot factory ammo. Honestly the most accurate little rifles right out of the box nd just as light if not lighter than anything else on the shelf. Spend your extra money on ammo.

I got the original Rem 700 ml it had the stupid cap ignition then I “upgraded” to the 209 that was wrapped in a cage….what a mess that was. cleaning that thing made me not want to shoot it so I contacted arrowhead and got a fully enclosed 209 ignition system that works off a firing pin that was fitted to my bolt. best thing ever and no blow by whatsoever.

So is there any known disease that would infect non vaccinated feral horses that doesn't affect wild life? Just saying

Anyone hunting Camp Navajo this fall? I got super lucky and drew the only non-resident tag for the first archery hunt. My packet is submitted and should be authorized into the Limited Area; so hoping to see some nice bulls. But first time; so steep learning curve with only one weekend of scouting allowed, and not sure if I'll get to scout the Limited Area either.

I took the wife and boy for Mothers Day. We only fished a couple of hours due to the wind. We kept enough for a good dinner.

Those crazy Californians say they have to get out of California because of what it’s become then move to another state only to do the same stupid %@#$ they were doing in CA. Why not just stay in California where no one cares what you do ? Worst thing I see in the mountain town I live in is a vehicle driving through with California tags……please just be passing through, we don’t care how it’s done in California !

We have those same people moving to Overgaard. I had a place in Alpine over 20 years ago. Hate to see those people moving there.

Make yourself a chart for income and capitol, I like to know each year what our buffer is over our income before we hit the next tax bracket, this way you know what you can sell short term and stay in say the 24% range.
