Up for sale is one of my favorite rigs. This custon rifle was built by well-known gunsmith Kirby Allen out of Montana. You can check out his website here: https://apsrifles.com . Custom components for this build along with current prices are as follows: Action: Lawton 7000 Repeater (Rem 700 La footprint) -blueprinted by Kirby (No longer available, but paid $875 nearly 13 years ago) Base: Lawton 20 MOA Rail (No longer available, but paid $100 nearly 13 years ago) Bolt: Fluted by LongRiflesInc. $50 Barrel: Lilja Match SS in #4 contour. Finished at 26" with 1 in 8" twist $380 Brake: Defensive Edge by Shawn Carlock (indexed) $80 Gunsmithing Work: Chamber in 6.5-06 AI, thread barrel tennon, thread muzzle, index brake & blueprint action $600 Stock: Manners Ultralight Carbon Hunter $780 (now known as EH Series) Trigger: Huber Concepts 2-Stage set at 1 lb. $300 Paint: Five Color Cerakote in Kryptek camo $250 Bottom metal: Std. Rem 700 BDL $75 If my math is right, I have nearly $3,500 of top quality parts & labor in this build (excluding tax & shipping costs). Also included with the sale of the rifle: a set of Redding 6.5-06 AI dies and approx. 150 of 2-x fired 6.5-06 AI Winchester brass fully fire-formed from 270 Win brass. Probably another $225 in value right there. (The Atlas bipod shown in the picture is not included in the sale.) Although not included in the sale, I do have approx. 300 count of the 6.5mm 130 gr. Accubond bullets and a couple pounds of H 4831 SC that could also be purchased to help you get started. And no - I am not interested in selling the bullets or powder separately at this time. The rifle weighs 8 lbs. as is. It shoots in the .5-.75 MOA range when you do your part. It loves both the 130 gr. Accubond (3,050 fps) - very mild load and the 160 gr Matrix bullets (3,075 fps) - very stout load. It has a documented 1,136 rounds down the barrel (including all load development and fouling rounds). This rifle has taken everything from coyotes to elk. The stock has some paint chips from normal field use, but no dents or dings in the carbon shell itself. If you do not want the 2-stage trigger, I would be happy to reduce the price by $200 and keep it. Price is: $2,250 As always, CWT members get first shot at anything I sell before posting on different websites/boards. The first "I'll take it" in the thread trumps any PM's or text message. I like everything out in the open for all to see. No back door deals. For questions, you can post in the thread or send me a PM.

When I dumped all my high end Leupolds about 10 years ago it was a lightbulb moment. Every aspect of shooting got easier. Zeroing, dialing, ballistics, etc. All of a sudden everything worked like it should. Never, ever again, no chance....

So over the past several yrs I have owned several VX series scopes. After numerous return to zero issues on all of them and After leupold customer service gave them a clean bill of health.....I missed the buck of a lifetime after one of them was shooting several feet high and right....I sold them all and will never own another leupold scope...

Headed to our first ever turkey hunt, with the youth camp in unit 1. Hope we have some success but either way it should be lots of fun. 🤞🦃 Update: Saturday morning my son tagged out. We had the best mentor from the youth camp in unit 1. All around great guy and hunter. He had roosted some turkeys the night before. We hiked in before sunrise, we heard 3 different gobblers around us. We got in as close as we could. My oldest son and I sat under a tree and my other son and the mentor sat about 10 yards to our left. We were right on the edge of a canyon. The sun started to come up and they were gobbling close. One flew out of the tree right above us down the canyon (side note, I had no idea they flew or they sat in trees). Our mentor started calling, we saw a hen to our right, then about 45 yards in front of us came a tom over the hill puffing his feathers. My son asked me if he could shoot it, I told he let's make sure he had a beard first, as soon as I saw it I told him to shoot. Great shot about 40 yards away, another Tom came right up and started fighting with the bird my son just shot. I was trying to signal to my other son , but it happened so fast. The mentor thought it was the same bird so he was trying to tell us to shoot it again. I found out later they didn't have as good of view as we did. Such a proud moment for me and even the mentor 😂. We tried the rest of the weekend but couldn't make it happen for my other son. It was a great weekend, the boys learned so much but so did my husband and I. My 6 yr old can't wait to hunt! Thank you to the youth camps, volunteers, and mentors. (Don't mind my son's hair 🙄)

I’ve had several VX6, 3 and old 2’s. Wouldn’t trust any one of them to dial over and over. Had two Vx6’s that were the worst. For what they get for them now they sure don’t have my faith in them. If I was to hunt with a leupold it would be hold over only personally.

I’ve seen it before. Scope came back from leupold and was supposed to be good. it was the scope rings almost like they put the scope is some sort of a bind. Talleys did it. Went back to the rail and leupold rings problem went away. also seen plenty of vx3s that wouldn’t track worth a poo or return to zero. I love them for a non dial rig but wouldn’t trust them if I planned on dialing.

What a crazy situation. Can we now refer to Kenny as Natureboy? All in favor? Or is there anyone on this site anymore that even knows what I am refering to?

This birdhunter dude is a POS. Selling stolen guns, would make him a felon. Turn him in

I had similar stories with azbirdhunter88. First contact I had with him was when he was new to the forum, offered to take someone to a great quail spot. I responded, we texted and we're set to go the next morning. He never showed, wouldn't answer any follow on texts. Figured it was either miscommunication or the dudes a douchebag. Within 2 days of that occurrence, azbirdhunter88 was back on the forum whining that he did indeed go quail hunting and someone he'd taken there hunting before was in his honey hole, uninvited. Was thinking Karma, b""tch. Some time later he called me about a post of mine he'd read where I'd mentioned a large bear lurking around my mining claim nights up near Crown King. Apparently he read that post and went straight to the area but now wanted better coordinates. He was actually calling me about 1 1/2 miles from my spot. While I had him on the phone I mentioned I wanted something he had listed in the classifieds. He said he'd be home in a day and to come by for the item. Several days later he called me again from the mining claim, said he'd seen two bears but not the hog we'd named Mountain Dew Bear. I asked him again about the item he'd listed for sale, he now said it was gone. That's when I concluded I'm done with this dude.

Years ago, my lab and bulldog accidentally bred. After research, they were called "Bulladors", and I received much criticism here when I posted them for sale (well below $1000 even). Haters be damned, those turned out to be some of the best dogs ever. Maybe not for field use, but everyone of them was a loyal and sweet as can be. One even went on to be a service dog for veterans with PTSD and was featured on the news in her hometown in California many times, being accredited with multiple veterans deciding not to become one of the statistics. Another turned into a fantastic livestock protection dog.

I like to get a feel for the actual hunt I am on. Some hunts, the animals are very call shy, so calling is minimal at best. Other hunts, they come screaming in, in a hurry. Some bulls respond better to cow calls, other's come to bugles. Some bulls like branch's breaking, bugling. Calf calling is one of my favorite calls to pull a cow away from the harem. If you can pull a cow, chances are, that bull will not let her get too far away before he comes to gather her back up. I would say on average, bugle to locate, move in and figure out how many cows he has and develop a plan from there. If you start calling, be ready to have satellite bulls come in completely silent. My favorite hunt to go on for sure.

This is good advice….. you can bet (depending on the unit and tag numbers) that plenty of guys will be trying to randomly bugle and cow call for a response. I think the animals get conditioned to this very quickly. Archery hunts I’ve had and other hunts I’ve been invited to, we always did better going in early and quietly. Try and locate them feeding and get in front of them when they move to their beds. Also, as mentioned, sit still on water if it’s feasible. There’s a time and place for calling, but often times it becomes the best way to watch a herd race away from you. Obviously there are exceptions to it all and being prepared to make good and timely calls can be productive. Best of luck to you and the wife. Makes great memories!

I would add Ieupold vx5 3-15 to your list as well. I don’t shoot over 5-600 and they’ve been great for me. Even the vx3 cds have worked very well and they are extremely light.

The Humane Society has a story on their website that claims its legal for AZ hunters to kill sows with cubs and also kill the cubs. They include a link to AZ game and fish so their minions can express their fake outrage instead of the Game and Fish taking the time and effort to demand they correct it…they spent their time and efforts to ban trail cameras.
