Stopping contributions because it's not performing well it's definitely one of the dumber pieces of advice offered on this site ever.

I drew a red desert tag in WY 3-4 years back and had a great time and killed my personal best buck. I’ve been blessed with 2 AZ archery tags and killed two bucks that are very different shape but both scored within 1/8” of each other. I’ve killed three antelope in NM with rifle on landowner and draw tags. This is the best one. I burned a few points in colorado a couple years back and killed a nice buck with an open sight muzzy. That was a fun hunt! I live 15 minutes from the Montana line and have been lucky enough to get tags almost every year. My brother killed a good one in there last year but most of them are smallish but if you think antelope is good, you need to try antelope that have been eating alfalfa, peas, lentils and soybeans all summer! My home state of ND used to have OTC archery tags and my buddies and I used to give them heck back in the pre rangefinder days. I killed 3-4 of them with bow and drew a couple rifle tags. After a bad winter in 2013 I believe they shut all antelope hunting down and finally opened it a few years ago. I have 12-13 points and may draw soon. The first year they opened it was awesome. My brother killed this awesome 3 pronged buck that was the oldest antelope I’ve ever seen. They’ve shot the top end of since though. If you can’t tell, I LOVE antelope hunting. I’ve been fortunate enough to kill 15 antelope and have marching orders from my wife to make sure I kill atleast one every year in the future!

The last hunt for antelope was back in 2010 up in Wyoming when I drew a permit in unit 64. I have been putting in for points since and now have 11, so figure it is time to cash in the chips. I have been looking at draw odds, access, % public land, trophy quality, yada yada, and have not made a decision yet. Will see what the rest of the winter in Wyoming brings- hopefully mild. (I have 15 points for antelope in AZ, but all know that won't get you a cup of coffee). Photo is of the 2010 Wyoming antelope. The blaze cap was swapped out for photo purposes. Anyone else chomping at the bit for an antelope permit?

This was one of my dad's favorites...may he RIP. He loved the .270 Win. and Sierras. Shot my one and only with his 7mm WSM 140 gr Ballistic Tip offhand at maybe 130 yards.

That requires time and proximity. I drew a great NV deer tag a few years back and hired a guide and had an incredible hunt. It was a once in a lifetime tag and I shot a once in 100 lifetimes buck. It was a pre rut hunt and those require hundreds of hours to do right and there’s no way I could have done that being 1500 miles away. A year before that I drew a once in a lifetime mountain goat tag. That one was 5 hours from home so I made it happen and scouted it myself and killed a B&C Billy. Do I look at either hunt differently? Maybe. I enjoyed the heck out of both of them, one with family and one I met some new friends that I keep in contact with to this day. Last year I got a once in a lifetime moose tag in my home state. Ended up killing a great bull about 5 min from my house. Didn’t even consider a guide for that hunt. This year I just found out I drew a real good AZ tag. I’m 1200 miles away, I will be hiring a guide for this one too. I may only get one or two more of them in my lifetime so I’m gonna make the most of it. Am I less of a hunter then you? Maybe in your eyes I am. If I had to wager a guess you haven’t killed much stuff real far from home though and that’s one of the things I enjoy the most about my hunting career.

What Stanley said, I dollar costed average my whole career and maxed the 401K every year with a 6% match for 35 years. Now I'm fat dumb and happy Keep investing you will get there eventually.

I’m not sure which I find harder to believe. That Bob drew a early rifle tag with 3-4 points or that he’s got a girlfriend. Good work on all accounts Bob.

Not defending for sure, just haven't been around and things seem tuff. Maybe the covid has people on edge. Just me

Man, it must be tough when you can’t even pay someone to hunt with you.

My buddy from South Carolina had the archery tag in 2020. I didn’t do a write up because I love the bad press it gets. Called in or had in bow range 33 bulls( some the same). Called this one in 3 days in a row and buddy could not get an arrow in him

I also have to remove my glasses to use binos, or at least to use them effectively. My problem is that even with the eye cups of most binos screwed all the way in, the lenses of my glasses will hit the lens of the binos before I can get my eyes close enough to the binos for the correct eye relief. If it's just a quick glance through the binos freehand I can make do, but I end up just taking my glasses off to glass from the tripod for long periods of time. It's a hassle, but it's the only way I've been able to glass comfortably. As others mentioned I've been able to adjust my binos to see perfectly without my glasses.
