Was able to tag out on this guy yesterday evening. Snuck in and he walked right in front of me at 50 yards.

Two of my boys and one niece drew the general hunt in unit 32 during the first week of November. It was super warm and the bucks were doing there best to stay out of sight. We worked really hard, hiked near and far and the kids kept grinding. These kids work really hard to be proficient with the rifles they are using and we were blessed to fill all three tags, including a first buck for Carson. Below are some pictures from the hunt and a link to a video I put together on youtube. https://youtu.be/PAwnyyqWHc0

This is my opinion only but you need to know the game you are shooting at and what caliber you are shooting to determine shot placement. If i was to shoot a 25 caliber into the shoulder of a bull elk at 1000 yards I doubt I would get the penetration I would want, so I would most likely shoot bigger caliber or shoot the bull in the lungs. Which I think my 25 sst would be ok for an Elk at long range. Not ideal but ok. With my 300 ultra with 210+ grains I would shoot for shoulder on elk that far, try to break a leg and push through to lungs, but I would most likely shoot a Coues in the lungs at anything under 200 or risk losing a bunch of meat. If you know and apply some of that info I believe that the Berger is an outstanding choice for most applications. It doesn't matter what bullet you use if you hit brisket or a pass through in the flanks, or guts you may lose an animal.

Here is my NM muzzleloader coues buck that I was able to harvest this past weekend. Shot him at 52 yards with my paramount.

Very nice Kimber Montana that has about 200 rounds down the pipe. Gun comes with a Leupold 20 MOA rail and didn't like the bland gray paint of the original stock so I gave it a paint job. Has 3 coats of clear coat. Great gun, just need to fund another project. Trigger has been set right at a crisp 1.75 lbs. $950.00 Model 8400 rifles chambered for WSM cartridges feature free-floated 24-inch match grade barrels, chambers and triggers. Barreled actions are bedded on twin aluminum pillars permanently bonded into the stock, and recoil lugs are glass bedded for both strength and accuracy. Classic, Classic Stainless, Classic Select Grade and SuperAmerica models feature properly shaped classic walnut stocks with hand-rubbed oil finish and hand-cut checkering. Montana models are hard-core mountain rifles with stainless steel barreled actions and Kevlar-carbon fiber stocks. Straight combs and Pachmayr® Decelerator® pads dramatically reduce felt recoil. Made entirely in the Kimber factory, the Model 8400 is the finest production sporting rifle available today.

While fighting the wind last Saturday looking for deer I turned my attention to the cliffs and found 8 desert bighorn sheep, 4 of them being rams. I’m not a sheep expert, but one of them seemed to be a real tank! I was able to watch them for about 2 hours. They are such amazing animals. Totally made my day. Video was taken with my phoneskope through my Zeiss Conquest 10x42 at 1040 yards. Video is a little shaky due to the wind. Hopefully the quality isn’t diminished during the upload. I can't find any literature stating that pistol is black powder only. Enjoy chooting it.

I have killed two bulls and total about a dozen or more coues with the 180 Hybrid from my 28 Nosler. I have yet to have anything less than stellar performance. Ranges varying from 280 yards on a 6x6 bull to 700 on a coues, and another 6x6 bull.

I located an old box (maybe 1950s ???) of 38SW. It contains 38 rounds of 145 grain lead round nose. If you determine your Colt can shoot this particular round (these are not black powder), you can have the box. That said, the box is in very good condition and would make a good keepsake to go along with your revolver. Let me know. I am in Fountain Hills - fyi RT

I have used the 105 Hybrid out of a 6XC for the last few years with excellent results. 110 Match king also worked awesome.

Hybrids are way more consistent than the accubond LR. Never shot anything with the nosler because I always had a flier or two so I sold what was left in the box and stuck with the Berger hybrid. They work fantastic on game.

Sorry about the poor quality but it was starting to get late in the morning and I was getting heat waves. And he was at least a mile and a half off. I tried to cut a little bit out of that video and enlarge it but it didn’t turn out too well. You can’t really tell but he’s a 4 x 4. he is the third biggest buck I found this year. Going back this morning to see if I can find him again

I will be hunting near port alfred on the eastern cape. Really excited to see some new country and new animals. My last trip was in the northern cape near Kimberly. Before my last trip I was pretty ignorant of south African culture and history. After an awesome trip and meeting some great people I have been really infatuated with the country. I picked up reading H. Rider Haggard and have read just about every novel of his. Really an amazing history.
