4 pointsOuch. Hope the gear is recovered or he gets restitution. More reason to remove all hunting/shooting decals off our vehicles and take valuables into the room at night.

3 pointsDoug always has the coolest pictures and it reminded me of a neat sequence of photos my buddy caught of me stalking a bedded mule deer buck for a picture. Im a very new photographer but I am enjoying it when I can. Jeremy was couple hundred yards away and I was able to get within about 50 yards of the buck. My cousin and friend Jeremy took these 2 pictures and the last is the picture that I took.

3 pointsCongrats to all who tagged out . My wife didn't pull the trigger on this hunt we seen several bucks but she was set on one particular buck that we had seen earlier in the year . She ended up glassing him up on the 29th but he was 1200 yards out . We hiked in to about 600 yards from were we last seen him and he pulled the grey ghost never seen him again the rest of the hunt. Had a great time hopefully my buddy that put us on him will draw the tag next season and harvest him.

2 pointsMust add - Get an Airbow for all 'archery' hunts since you can no longer pull 80lbs comfortably yet make sure can do everything else you normally do. And Never get closer to an animal - shoot from as far way as possible and if it doesn't literally go belly up - walk away and blame the wind.

2 pointsI would love to draw another tag. I drew in 21 with 26 bonus points and harvested the prime specimen

2 pointsBack in the early 1980s when I was living in South Texas, I motored across Falcon Lake along the Texas-Mexico border to the submerged, old town of Zapata in a 14' aluminum and 10 HP Johnson. I do not know if I'd make that trip today. I took a few black and white images, but have since lost the negatives. Here are edits of poor scans of the only two prints I have.

1 pointWith limited days to hunt this year I decided to try my luck this past weekend on the mountain. The 1st day went alright but all I was seeing is doe's so I decided to switch it up a bit and pack down into another spot. I ended up seeing 4 bucks and Shot this super cool buck with only a day left to hunt. We thunk he busted off his main beam when he was in velvet. He has some pretty cool character and I could be happier.

1 pointFirst shout out to members Hucker (and Ray), for coming out to help glass when i didnt even know he was gonna be there and Zackcarp for letting me hang my deer in his cooler. I love this website and i am thankful to be a part of it. Awesome guys on here, cant really even put it into words. Well last week i was horn hunting for mule deer, but sunday evening my middle boy Caliche said hed go out for the evening hunt so horn hunting took the back burner. Got to the spot and saw a dude walking up the hill and my heart kinda sank. Turned out member hucker and his buddy were also out there bird hunting and the guy walking up the hill was another archer heading to where we were gonna go. Stayed near the truck to glass but didnt see much. Headed out early the next morning. Got loaded up at the truck, said a quick prayer with my boy and headed out. Once at our spot i could see some black dots out in the distance i knew were deer. We got set up and it looke like they were all does, after awhile we saw a couple were small muley bucks, just then noticed 2 coues bucks coming in from our right. I looked at my phone an saw a text from hucker and ray.. "theres 2 muley bucks out there right now", dang Hucker and Ray came out to glass for me and i didnt even know they were there! We stayed long enough to make sure the big buck i was after wasnt around and decided to give chase. Everything was in my favor, clear path to where to start my stalk, the wind and a perfect little wash that led right to where the 2 bucks were standing. I was able to sneak up to 30 yards. Draw back and let loose, the buck jumped and ran 20 feet and started to hobble around for a second before laying down. I approached slowly to make sure, and he was already expired. Well i didnt know it but Hucker sent me another text while on my stalk "the big buck is out there right now!" Well... never saw the text and later my son was like i saw a big buck out there while you were stalking, i said how big? "He was freakin huge", lol oh well! Im happy and wouldnt trade in a successful stalk for my boy to watch at all, im stoked he was willing to get up early and go hike in the cold just to hang out with his pops. I called momma and she came out with my daughter and my new puppy she got me for Christmas for some pics. Meet Buck my new boston terrier pup. Hes now got to see 2 deer harvests and hes by my side all the time, love that little pup! Like i said, Bucky follows me everywhere...

1 pointGuess I’ll introduce myself here. I followed another friend of mine over here from the AZS board, he said it was a good place so I figured I’d check it out. Been living in AZ for over 30 years. I enjoy everything outdoors, but especially enjoy exploring off-road, and predator hunting. Never been deer hunting in my entire 50+ years of life, so you Coues hunters aren’t going to have to worry about me going after your trophy bucks 😎 just out there trying to protect the next generation from Wiley Coyote and friends. I repair machinery and equipment, weld and fabricate stuff for a living and do almost everything else to pay the bills. Hope to meet a few like-minded outdoorsmen and enjoy some positive interactions. Here’s a pic of a nice little fox I got a couple of months ago:

1 pointI measured my bicep with a pump last night. 15 3/4 flexed, but it’s cut like a diamond. alright for real, cut starts today. I’ve been catfishing on tinder with shirtless mirror selfies from when I was shredded and now I have dates lined up later this week. Have to kick the initial bloat

1 pointWell I've been back for a bit now and to be honest I kind of forgot about this post. We made it to Kodiak the morning of 29 Oct by way of ferry from Homer. We met the transporter on the other side of the island in Anton Larson Bay the morning of 30 Oct. The weather that morning was horrible and I was hoping that it was not the beginning of shitty weather for the week. Fortunately for us it was not. We got to Larsen Bay, our hunting area, about 1p.m. and decided to go for a hike and get a lay of the land where we'd be hunting. To say that the terrain is thick is an understatement. It took us about 2.5 hours to hike inland before we got to a "open" area where we could not walk through the thick alders/brush. Even in the grassy areas the grass was 3'-4' high so we had to bushwhack our way through everything. We were only out for a few hours that evening and saw tons of deer sign but no bear sign. Day 1-Started with a 3-4 hour hike to a overlook where we could glass the mountain sides around us. We did end up seeing a bear about a mile and a half across the valley. Here's where the dilemmas come into play......It would take us at least 2 hours to get in to shooting range and who knows if the bear would even still be there when we got into position. Safe daylight began at about 9:45ish and it was dark by 6pm. We found the bear at about 3:30 and had the hard discussion of not going after it because it would take us late into the night if we were able to actually shoot and kill it. We made the decision to come back to that area the next day and try to find him again. Day 2-Started with a 3-4 hour hike and we went in a different way to try and get a head of where we last saw the bear. We made it to the area where we were going to try and shoot the bear from the previous day. We glassed all day and could not relocate the bear nor did we see any other bears. We saw a ton of deer sign and also a few deer do it kind of gave us hope. They did want to shoot and deer yet and wanted to keep focusing on the bear. Day 3-You guessed it another 3-4 hour hike. Even though we didn't see a bear the day before we stuck to this area and in hind sight it was a bad idea. We didn't see any bear and very few deer though there was sign everywhere! This evening we moved the boat about 4 miles southwest down the shoreline. Day 4-We hiked along a stream but believe it or not after the first 1/4 mile the brush got thick again. There was actual bear sign here so we were on high alert walking through the brush/grass. We wanted to hike back to the lake where this stream originates but after 3 hours busting brush we still had a mile to go and decided it wasn't worth the time to get back there and only be able to glass for less than an hour. We ended up finding a bear on the mountains directly to the south of us but we had two problems......1 he was about 2 miles away and 2 he was on the reservation and we didn't buy trespassing tags ($200 per person) nor the tag to actually kill a bear on reservation land ($1,000). We had decided not to purchase either of the tags prior to leaving Kodiak. So we kept glassing until about an hour before dark so we could hike out. Day 5-Hiked along the river again and didn't see anything other than deer on this day. They decided that it was a bear or nothing so we glassed all day in multiple spots and never saw another bear. Day 6-Took the boat back to Kodiak....... All three of us had a great time but the bear just didn't want to cooperate. The other two were able to go duck hunting and got quite a few sea ducks in the evenings before it got totally dark.
