Well, 2021 was an interesting hear. I had one of the best fishing seasons I have ever had. Winning several local tournaments and winning a Wild West Bass Trail tournament in Havasu with a good buddy of mine. I also was lucky enough to partner up with a lifelong buddy and we were AOY for a local Rod and Gun Club. Then, the luck followed into the rifle deer season and I was able to knock down a solid buck that I had on camera. He isn't the 200" buck we all dream about but I was so happy to have him. I wish everybody much success this upcoming hunting and fishing season and I hope every one has a great 2022.

Hopefully everyone did alright last year and I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I got lucky last year and was able to fill my freezer with an elk and a coues. L Best of luck to everyone this year and post up how you did last year. Thanks Keven

The last hunt for antelope was back in 2010 up in Wyoming when I drew a permit in unit 64. I have been putting in for points since and now have 11, so figure it is time to cash in the chips. I have been looking at draw odds, access, % public land, trophy quality, yada yada, and have not made a decision yet. Will see what the rest of the winter in Wyoming brings- hopefully mild. (I have 15 points for antelope in AZ, but all know that won't get you a cup of coffee). Photo is of the 2010 Wyoming antelope. The blaze cap was swapped out for photo purposes. Anyone else chomping at the bit for an antelope permit?

The guys that ran huge amounts of cameras will have a much more difficult decision on January 1. It is going to be hard for them to try and hide the fact that they are running cameras for "take." They have a lot more at stake and the case is much easier for the officer to make. The guy that runs a few cameras will be hard to enforce and it will really come down to personal ethics. Whether you agree with it or not, you will be knowingly violating a game law if you continue to use cameras to aid in the take of. No different than the baiting ban, most will stop using them, some will not,

With limited days to hunt this year I decided to try my luck this past weekend on the mountain. The 1st day went alright but all I was seeing is doe's so I decided to switch it up a bit and pack down into another spot. I ended up seeing 4 bucks and Shot this super cool buck with only a day left to hunt. We thunk he busted off his main beam when he was in velvet. He has some pretty cool character and I could be happier.

Guess I’ll introduce myself here. I followed another friend of mine over here from the AZS board, he said it was a good place so I figured I’d check it out. Been living in AZ for over 30 years. I enjoy everything outdoors, but especially enjoy exploring off-road, and predator hunting. Never been deer hunting in my entire 50+ years of life, so you Coues hunters aren’t going to have to worry about me going after your trophy bucks 😎 just out there trying to protect the next generation from Wiley Coyote and friends. I repair machinery and equipment, weld and fabricate stuff for a living and do almost everything else to pay the bills. Hope to meet a few like-minded outdoorsmen and enjoy some positive interactions. Here’s a pic of a nice little fox I got a couple of months ago:

It's not just the big bo doing this in unit 10. I grew up in Williams and worked on and played on the majority of the ranches there. I worked sheep and cattle on the Aja ranch. Now closed to public access do to being contracted with an outfitter from the Prescott area. I worked cattle with Dave Blaire on the Bar Heart ranch. Now closed to bublic access for being run and operated by an outfitter. The Seven's ranch use to be a favorite archery hunting area. Now subdivided with very limited access. As well as the four hills ranch area. The Freeman ranch contracted to outfitters. I am in favor of the rules set by the Perrin still granting access but limiting vehicle access and camping location's. And I appreciate the Babbitt ranch for remaining open. I was fortunate enough to draw my antilope tag this year with 26 bonus points. I did not access the Big Bo and was still able to harvest a Boone and Crockett record book buck. Despite the ranch closures. In my humble opinion I feel that if they want to legally post ALL private land. From the corner every quarter mile. So be it but do not limit or lock off the access to state land that as stated in law my hunting license grants me permission to hunt on. It does not give me the right to damage or trash the land so watch where you travel and pick up your trash.

A lifelong friend finally drew an Arizona Desert Bighorn tag after over 45 years of applying (never, never miss a BP). He managed to get it done on the second morning after a week of scouting. His son and his GF were with him. I got to spot it and watch. The Stats: RH 36-1/2 LH 38 Bases 15 ½ Green Score 175 (the broken horn cost him over 3” but who cares! G&F score 172-1/4 (pretty dang good for two newbies learning!) 6.5 CM (I hate it) with 127 Barnes LRX going 2960 fps at 488 yards. One heck of a sheep. I couldn’t be happier for him.

No tags in Arizona for us this year. But it is always nice to look at my antelope from 2020 and my daughter’s from 2016. Considering last year was so dry, my goat on the left looks great.

And nothing as boring as sitting all day and seeing nothing…double-edged sword.

Decided to burn 1 point and hunt a unit with very little access to see how hard Wyoming antelope hunting can be. Took 2 hrs in the field in two different units to fill my tags. Helped a couple buddies on day 2 fill their doe tags as well. I’m officially hooked and can’t wait to burn the wife’s points next year!
