After going through a divorce and trying to figure life out. I lost my fire to hunt (she hunted with me) and hunted a few years and it was depressing so I took a leave of absence. Then a good friend asked me to teach him how to hunt 3 years ago he got a javelina tag I half butt showed him how to hunt. He bugged me about deer until we got tags last year he got a deer I got tag soup. Javelina season was over in about 2 hours for us we both tagged out. This year was different for me I got a new 243 about a month ago dropped a leupold cds scope on it and learned how to use it lol I am old school. Everything I had heard was that this year deer where hard to find. This unit doesn't produce very many bid deer normally so my standards are typically set low. Opening day we see 5 doe not bad considering what people where saying day 2 we get to our first spot and people are there back up plan hit a spot we seen a good buck in the year before. I don't hike in in the dark so we where glassing the area we where going to be hiking through. I set up and within 3 minutes I have this guy glassed up at 7:30 a.m. I hit him with a range he is at 285 I dial my scope in and get on him squeeze the trigger sob I left the trigger on roll the safety off and squeeze the hand loaded Hornaday 95 gr sst hit him high rib hit his spine and out the other side. The fire determination and love is back. God is good now I just need to loose some weight

I don’t have a lot of information about this gun as I bought it off of a gun broker auction about a year ago. I had big plans of load development and all that but I just haven’t been able to get to it and I need the money for some holiday travel plans. The rifle definitely appears well used but everything seems to function perfectly. I have 50 rounds of match primed unfired Hornady brass. Along with some Barnes Match Burners to along with it. I even have a set of Lee 222Rem dies. On top is a weaver rail with a Leuopold VX Freedom 2-7x33 Brand spanking new only mounted but has never been fired since mounted. feel free to ask any questions. Located in Peoria. Asking $850 obo for the rifle, scope, rings and base, and the reloading components. Can text Nick at 623-210-0807

Not sure how often this happens. This was in Morenci. G&F was called in and finished him from what I was told. Crazy. IMG_3744.mov

Not my buck, no details. Met a guy at work few months back that told me to follow him on Instagram and FB. I think this buck takes the icing on the cake from what life goals are on Coues, just sayin delete if not allowed

Nothing really exciting to post about this. My buddy glassed him up within range, I got behind his gun and got a little lucky. Mark and I had a blast and went 2/2. He shot his the morning before, I shot mine yesterday.

I deplore Utah’s expo model. But in this case they used a few opportunities to create a bunch of money without impacting tag #’s, making anyone pay extra that didn’t want to, or messing with bonus points. If you are upset by this you are just whining to whine.

I've said it before and I will say it again. AZGFD has to be the leader in creative ways to generate funds yet never improve resident hunting and in most cases actually make hunting in AZ worse. I wonder what percentage of G&F budget goes to support non-game functions like the wolves, ferrets, chub fish, condors, frogs etc?

Initial draw? Sounds like a way to backdoor the AZSFW dream of a Utah style convention..."It went over so well we decided to make it 200 tags next year" They could have taxed every game camera $50 a year and made 10 times more money!

Well more Jeremiah Johnson. Hunting the legendary unit 4b south. Decided to go with my renegade for s and g. (I will have have my scoped muzzy as a back up if I get my butt handed to me) haven't stepped foot in the unit in several years but my brother has been sending me pics of bucks he has seen on his way to work. Actually I have only hunted it two mornings with my bow several years ago. my goal is simple, I have a friendly competition with my nephew so I want a buck 1/100th of an inch bigger than his last day buck that he took at a million yards with his 300prc a couple of weeks ago. I did some ballistic testing today with both rifles. 135 yards with a .54 cal round ball. I am learning fast the difference for point of aim between first, second, and third shots. 219 yards with my scoped muzzy. Of all the animals I've taken in AZ (30+) I have yet to shoot one this far. So I should be good.

Sako Vixen, .223, 55 grain Hornady, FoxPro CS-24-C playing Lucky Bird, came in at about the twenty-minute mark, died at about twenty yards from the caller.

Taken a couple of weeks ago. Sako Vixen, 55grain Hornady. Fifty-yard shot, came in slow and crouching as he neared the caller/decoy.

I have no idea, never shot at a big deer. I only shot dinks.

Really? Hoping someone mitigates the loss is a "dick thing to say"? Losing a $250 rifle sure would be easier to handle than a $5k custom. To the OP, I hope it gets returned. There are good people out there. Too bad it is only about 10% of us.

Hopefully this worked to flip the pic.

Try mixing in some hand calls. This really works well to get them to come in a little closer..
