Like many others life happened to us this year. We are thankful that we even made it to opening day for the late bull elk hunt. The Wife passed on a little bull first thing in the morning. She is a little under the weather but the kids are in heaven so we’re pushing through.

Here we go. Again! Probably won't get the Yukon done in time for a last minute scout- (switching out the transfer case and a new yolk is ordered) and I'm busting at the seams ready to go. I've spent some time there this past month- lost a cam. By lost I mean someone acquired it. Suddenly roads with a lot of elk activity are closed. (Those wonderful yellow stickers that magically appear on the brown signs) - that kinda sucks. They closed them in mid Nov. Probably during the late archery hunt. (And what's really odd is sometimes they only post that on one road entrance, but not the others.) I really love 7E. Not tons of elk, but I'm hopeful the lower resident herds don't move far. I'm heading up the 1st just to chop enough wood for 7 nights. Or I'll hit Flag and get a pickup full from someone selling. Got three tags this year- me and the boy, and one of my friends that has never hunted a day in his life. Should prove interesting.

Not sure how often this happens. This was in Morenci. G&F was called in and finished him from what I was told. Crazy. IMG_3744.mov

My buddy shot a bull in a heck hole this afternoon. He got it gutted and meat hung. We could use some help getting it out in the morning. My buddy is offering to pay anyone willing to assist. Call Adam at 928-595-1554 if willing to assist.

Store and maintain 10 dozen decoys for 3+ years waiting on another tag ...... Locate where cranes are feeding, beg landowner(s) for permission to hunt his/her land. Being that tags are few and far between, hiring a guide makes perfect sense. Pass shooting is OK but dusting decoyed birds is where it's at. Lot less wounding too.

We have a stand up freezer and removed all the shelves except the top one. We bought a Johnson Controls A421ABG-02C A421 Series Electronic Temperature Control (~$80 on Amazon) to keep the freezer above a freezing temperature. We ended up hanging the meat (elk) for about two weeks before processing it all. The setup worked great. Photo is from the first night before we actually hung the quarters from the top shelf

I will have a youth Diamond infinite edge LH bow available shortly. My son is upgrading at Xmas to a Mathew Vertix. The Diamond is highly adjustable as they grow. Plus strong enough to harvest an elk (Sept’18) I would be willing to let your son try LH bow to see if it works. I would suggest a lesson w an archery instructor so they can help evaluate.

I’m in same situation as your son, shoot my bow left handed. Definitely take him to a good shop to get fitted.

Been meaning to post again.. Found a fridge in my neighborhood on the side of the road. Took it home and cut out the divider and shelves. Then I used the controller prdatr posted and it holds at a consistent 34 degrees. I also use a freezer alarm to monitor the temperature. I use a small bowl of water at the bottom to keep the humidity up. I ran wood dowels through the bolts for when I need to hang sausages. I hang elk for 10 days and deer for 5 days. The entire project cost me less than 140 bucks and have used it 3 seasons now.

I ordered a pair of the razor uhd 18x56 (they were back ordered @ the time), then 2 days later I won a pair of kiabab 18s. I did not enjoy the kiababs at all. Then when the uhds came in , loved them. If you can pony up and go uhd for big glass. I chest carry my 15 swaros most the time but I love to use the uhds for sit down glass sessions
