My son got it done today. Just about a week after he got his first archery elk he got his best deer to date. We made more amazing memories that will live a lifetime!!

Went on our first scouting trip and wanted to post a few pics. I hope to add to it through the hunt.

Well I had my buddies from Texas put in this year and first time sure enough they got drawn. This was probably the hardest mental hunt I’ve ever been on. We hunted for a full 6 days sun up to sun down. Only ended up seeing 4 bucks total and probably 125 does. Nothing seemed to go right but sure enough we were able to get them both their first Arizona mule deer. It was for sure a fun hunt and beats sitting around at home.

Not my buck, no details. Met a guy at work few months back that told me to follow him on Instagram and FB. I think this buck takes the icing on the cake from what life goals are on Coues, just sayin delete if not allowed

6 x $13 x 250000 (or however many hunting licenses they sell per year) = A lot of dang potential revenue. I much prefer this to other things that have been proposed over the years.

At the time of application, a customer shall submit the required application fee ($13 for Arizona residents, $15 for nonresidents) for each selected hunt number. the fifth bullet point makes it sound like it’s open to non residents.

Was helping a champ hunter for deer and he laid his rifle across the hood. Deer were funneling through junipers, I tell him shoot the next deer. He shoots, looks like a land mine went off. Dust clears, and I see does looking back. We get over there and buck jumps up, but limping pretty bad. He shoots it again and puts it down. Back at camp my buddies kid is skinning it, and the bullet falls out of the deer. We look at the bullet and it has a 45 degree angle to it. Hit the ground and ricochets in front leg of deer. He was was using copper bullets in a 300 Win. mag. Would never believe it if I hadn't seen it happen. Was pretty crazy.

Judging by your pic, it is definitely the rifle. The twist should be on the inside of the barrel not outside. When both of your rifles shot high, was they both off on just elevation or windage also? If just elevation I would guess your range finder. The old saying GIGO. Garbage in, garbage out.

I trust my range finder, but if you wanna go old school and do the math:

Talking to my youngest yesterday about varmint calling! I informed him that in almost 50 years of coyote calling I had never called or shot a fox! Today that changed!!!! Shooting the .17 Remington built by my oldest son!

I had 4 friends join me on this hunt, it truly was a group effort. I received some very helpful info on what to expect from Dirtbag (thanks Greg) and a few others that have experience in the unit. The Cabeza Prieta is as advertised.....It will humble you. I took this 9 year old class IV ram.

+1 on that. My buddy sent me a pic of the nice coues he had just shot... Said he shot it at 920 yards. About made me puke, because he has never ever shot that far. He had never even shot the gun he was using. Make me kind of sick actually.
