4 pointsWife killed this stud this past weekend, made a perfect shot at 550 yrds. What do you guys think he scores? This bruiser finally came home from Mogollon Taxidermy, unfortunately we didn't make the 110" mark, if he had longer eye guards we would have been there. 104 2/8 was the net score. Thanks to everyone and their kind words, going to be a tough one for the wife to beat!!! Thanks Clay for another beautiful mount.

3 pointsI had Todd South, Southern Xpress Rifles, build me a custom black powder rifle. Before it was finished I put in for Mule Deer at the very last moment. To my surprise, I got drawn. Todd helped me plan my hunt since he was much more familiar with that area. We are pretty close and he took time off just to help me out. Our experience was something a movie could be made from. Almost no deer, or tracks, a crazy lady shooting her pistol a couple of times and demanding we speak with her, a AZGF officer who was very humourous about my minor violation (hadn't signed my tag quite yet). A wonderful Mule Deer camping out behind our cabin in town, finding four bucks but too late to shoot, losing my glasses, but finding them again, and shooting a nice Buck at 320 yards with a gusting 15 to 40mph cross wind. Eternal thanks to Todd South for his great knowledge and help. I thought we were going to be out there 10 days, done in 4!

3 pointsGot drawn for the 1st general WT hunt in 33, had two locations I was tossing back and forth that hold deer. Well I went to the Redington location and it paid off. Started glassing at 0600 and by 7:15 had 3 bucks at 792 yds. Closed the distance to 438 yds and tag filled. Kind of sad that it’s over so quickly, but looking forward to WGP’s chorizo and snack sticks!!!!

1 pointWell, not much of a story on this buck. Didn’t have time to scout much this year and didn’t really see anything when i did. My brother took a friend on the youth hunt a couple weeks ago and kicked this buck up in one of our old honeyholes. Went in this morning and killed him at first light then spent the next several hours packing him out. Lots of mass, blades and stickers on this one. He was an old dude

1 pointWe had a great hunt. We had 4 tags and were able to fill 3 of them. We had alot of hard work to reach the elk grounds, and then had hard but successfully hunts. My buddy and I took 2 adult onset hunters out on a cow tag. One was on his first big game hunt. We were able to get my buddy on his first hunt a great opportunity, and he closed the deal with a nice clean shot. His cow went DRT. My long time hunting buddy was able to close the deal too on a nice one too. Tuesday evening I decided to make a final push as I had to leave Wednesday. We hiked in over 2 miles to get to our spot all uphill. I with about 20 minutes of light left I heard a bull chuckle behind me. I didn't know if he was a single or had a herd. About 10 minutes later the herd made it way into the meadow. The first 5 were a mix of cows and calves. They stayed grouped up so I didn't have a shot. A couple more straggled in, and 1 presented a clean shot so I took it. We packed her out in 1 trip. I am a big dude, but that sucked. I decided it sucked less than hiking another 4 miles round trip though. I took the cut meat and 2 hind quarters. My buddy took the 2 fronts and my rifle. It SUCKED, but we made it and have many awesome experiences and stories from the past week or so. Pic 1 is the first timer. Pic 2 is my long time buddy who got the biggest cow Pic 3 is upside down, but is mine.

1 pointExcellent condition Original owner. Lightly used….maybe a few times per year. Everything works as it should. No plumbing or roof leaks. Tanks are perfect (no odors whatsoever). New tires in 2020, new group 27 battery in 2020. Trailer has a queen bed with new aftermarket mattress and two bunk beds. The table can be setup as another full size bed. Flatscreen TV. Anderson weight distribution hitch included. Centralized AC and heat. Heat can run on battery and propane. Ac requires power or generators. Fridge can run on propane or power. Water heater runs on power or propane. One slide out works perfect. Really opens up the floor plan. Awning is perfect no rips or tears. Trailer has been parked in pristine covered parking since day 1. I actually pay for two spots so it stays in shade 24x7. We made lots of great memories but we are going in a different direction as our kids get older $20,750. obo Clean title in hand Located in east valley

1 pointMy female had 7 pups, 1 week old Friday, Sept 03. I own both the Sire and the dam, both with respectable pedigrees, both very birdy and great hunters. Male came out of K nine Bird Dogs in Coolidge, Female came out of Mason Ridge Brittanys in Taylor. 5 females, 2 males. 4 orange and white females, 1 liver and white 1 orange and white male, 1 liver and white male. Ive got 2 females and 1 male still not spoken for. Dog have tails cropped, Dews gone. Micro chipped, 1st vacanations and the litter is registered. Adking 850.00 . To reserve a pup, 100 dollar deposit required. When they start getting around we will introduce them to birds. Good Family dogs and good hunters. I really want the pups to go to someone who will train and work with the dog and give the dog the opportunity to hunt, thats what they live for. Or a home that will really enjoy a great breed as a companion. If interested please call or text 520-490-1961

1 pointAlright so I got lucky and drew unit 10 early archery with 7 points and have never hunted this unit ever for anything! I had no idea where to start. After purchasing a unit map I realized just how large this unit is, at the same time I realized half of the unit is privately owned “ 700,000 acres just in the Boquilla’s, which after the fees you can gain access to. After many hours staring at maps and going back and forth we opted to start out in the Big Bo not knowing what to expect. First day Wednesday-went to seligman access point and drove about 8 to 10 miles back picked a campsite.Thursday Scouting- Not a single elk to be seen , no cows, no bulls, no nothing not even other hunters! Thursday night- packed our shoot and decided to move to new area lol! Midnight Thursday- set up camp and three out some cow calls for the heck of it , and we get an instant response! We call a bull literally into camp! Which was exciting to say the least. Friday opening day- Shafer access point- get out to sign in and threw out another cow call and a bull screams out 100 yds from the gate! We decide to go after him. He was a nice 6x6 we decide was a shooter! He screamed at every cow call but never committed just eventually headed away. As we walked back to the truck we called once more and to our surprise another bull 300 yds away answered. After 45 min of chasing this bull he also wouldn’t fully commit. So we went to him and got within 80 yds and then cow called , that got his attention and He came right in 60 yds and stood there! 6x6 , I drew back and wanted this bull, when I did my more experienced hunting buddy said he’s not the one, don’t shoot! So I filmed him instead with my phone! So to speed this up 6 more days go by with bad positions, other hunters messing things up , and I start to regret passing on day 1. Day 7- we find 10 to 15 bulls bugling during the middle of the day back and forth but not moving So we decide to stay out and see how things okay out . Just before sunset 2 bulls start just bugling non stop at each other , one is on our side of the ridge and the other is on the east side of another ridge, when all of a sudden the one in the east side comes running across without stopping with 8 cows ahead of him and he is a Beast, huge 6x7 runs straight at the other bull and they’re in a full on fight! At that moment I ran as fast as I could to close the distance before sun went down as I was 5 minutes to late. Next morning- we get to same spot early before sunrise and wait like most hunters would do right? Well as there was just enough light to see across the flats , we see a bunch of cows and all of a sudden he steps out and it’s the same big 6x7 from night before And he’s cows are leading him right to us. As we wait we see a white Dodge Ram road hunting and stop right in between us and the elk . Completely screwed our hunt. We watch as they try to make a move on them and end up pushing them away. 2 hours later after chasing other bulls at that point, we’re back at our truck and decide we’re gonna make a move on those bulls where I think they’re bedded. I cow call and sure enough he’s 100 yds away where they had pushed them. We get within 50 yds in thick juniper and I here a guys voice trying to get us off these bulls! Well I keep calling anyway and the satellite bull walks 25 yds behind some bushes and can’t get a shot off . We end up pushing all the elk from this heard across the canyon where I watch them bed . The other 2 hunters never saw this happen and they think the the bulls are still on this side haha. Evening hunt now- we get set up 1 pm same spot - we see these assholes 4 hours later park 5 ft from out truck , same white Dodge Ram with firefighter stickers in the back and walk up the same area where they chased them in the morning. All of a sudden 2 bulls start going at it again and they’re heading for a fight right now! We rush to get in position and see the bull with all the cows and it’s him !!! The heard bull from earlier . He’s 80 yds and closing fast , we opt to stay quite and let them go at it. 40 yds his cows stop and I start to draw back and my release malfunctions and my arrow flys 10 ft , wtf, and spoons the cows. My heart pounding because the bull is seconds from stepping out where they were . All of a sudden there he is oblivious to me just screaming at this other bull and I draw back aim at his lower shoulder area and release! So much adrenaline running through me I didn’t know if , or where I hit.. we look for blood and we have specks only and I’m dying !! Suns going down and we have hardly any blood. We track for 40 yds when we find him standing against a tree. I went to put another arrow in him but I’m shaking so bad I can’t draw my bow back! Adrenaline is dumping and I have the shakes LOL. The shot ended up double lung and all the blood was inside the cavity. Had a great time with friends and family , frustrating at times but that’s what makes the memories!

1 pointAlright, my apologies. I’m just jealous, I had to wait until today to act on my notification that it’s in stock and of course now it’s out of stock. I’m just of the ilk that all these “hey this is in stock here” posts fuel hoarding more than they help people that are already looking/needing components. We can’t ignore that there are people emptying shelves buying stuff they don’t need, and the pandemic toilet paper mindset of many folks isn’t helping overall.

1 pointDecided to burn 1 point and hunt a unit with very little access to see how hard Wyoming antelope hunting can be. Took 2 hrs in the field in two different units to fill my tags. Helped a couple buddies on day 2 fill their doe tags as well. I’m officially hooked and can’t wait to burn the wife’s points next year!

1 pointElk hunt starts the 12th. Having problems sleeping. Have to stop myself from loading up and heading out 2 weeks early. Keep shooting targets and doing pushups.

1 pointSo I wanted to wrap up this thread, I hate a thread with no ending. I wound up getting Covid in September and so did my wife. She actually spent 11 days in the hospital including 6 in ICU (I stayed with her for the last 9) and got out the last week of September. I had decided to not come to the Kaibab as she came home on oxygen and was still weak. Well we have two adult daughters at home, and she said bull-sh&#, you are going. You might never get this tag again. So Tuesday afternoon, 2100 miles later, I landed in Jacob Lake in my maroon Ridgeline with the white cap. Several members were kind enough to offer some advice and one even tried to go along with me for a couple days, but it just didn't work out. I spent a few days driving, scouting, glassing and talking to some other guys. Friday AM found me high in the burn along with what seemed like the other 374 tagholders. I saw some smaller bucks on Friday and a ton of people. Saturday was more of the same, and by Sunday I was pretty discouraged. The burn was producing a lot of hunters but based on the shooting, not many bucks. I had continued to check in with one other AZ hunter I had met on Tuesday and he wound up tagging out Sunday afternoon. With weather on the menu for for Monday night, I was feeling a little discouraged but my new friend offered to help see if we could find a buck on Monday with his friends who were glassing for him. I jumped at the opportunity. We checked out several places, found a few bucks, but still hadn't connected until I got an opportunity with this guy mid afternoon. My first mule deer, and I was tickled! We all went to the Inn for dinner afterward the I spent the night in the tent before heading home Tuesday. I made it home today. A few comments for other nonresidents - first, I way underestimated this hunt. I was too one dimensional, thinking only of the burn. What else was there? While I did see bucks there and up high, there are deer in the whole unit, and my deer did not come from the burn. Without my AZ posse, I would have been completely lost (and probably still there). Second, mule deer are huge. I'm 6'5" and 280. The buck I got was huge bodied, at least 50-75# bigger than me or the biggest IA whitetail I've taken - the pic speaks for itself. Third, as is always preached, be prepared for anything weather-wise. Fourth, bring extra gas cans for sure - unless you want to spend all your time running for gas. I camped close to Jacob Lake to get cell service so I could check in on my wife, and I put on a lot of miles every day. AZ hospitality was really nice - as a NR, I never felt like I was out of place, didn't belong, or was looked down upon. My AZ posse was just so welcoming. Helped me glass, extract, cut up, etc. It was like we were friends who hadn't seen each other in 25 years, not guys who only knew each other for 5 days. In the end, I had a great time, and thanks to the posse and all the CW members who helped me.

1 pointJust got back from 36B. There is plenty going on down there. I wish I was getting a percentage of those black bleach shaped water bottles, they are everywhere, usually two together tied with a piece of blanket. The current administration is probably handing them out just on the other side. Let's Go Brandon!

1 pointWe did have a small saw one day 1 which cleared a decent amount. We ran into some big ones though near the end and we sent a guy to buy a bigger chainsaw. We got an 18" stihl and "sally" put in some good work on 3 big pines and 1 oak. We spent about 3hrs eachnday on 3 different days to get all the trees cleared so we could get where we were going. Luckily the biggest ones were near where we wanted to be so we hiked past them til we cleared them. We were in AZ.

1 pointHunt was amazing, 16 days in the wall tent. Crazy rut went off the first week or so. Big bulls , bears, bobcats, tons of deer, turkeys. Had so many encounters I can’t even keep them straight. Pull my arrows out at least 20 times and full draw 4 times. In the end I shot a good bull in the shoulder and spent 3 or 4 days looking for him. Pretty much ended the hunt with a broken heart. Got the whole thing on film Don’t know what else to say, everything I could have asked for just missed the shot by a few inches. Never found the bull or arrow and am pretty sure he’s off running around somewhere. Tracked him off into some of the nastiest country I’ve ever been in. Stuff I would never even consider had we not been after him to get closure. Amazing weather and food. My wife stayed with me the entire trip. I forgot for like 3 days I even had a house or job. Mules got to graze on mountain grass every day. Learned a ton every day. Too bad it’s probably my last early tag. Time to beg to go on everyone else’s hunts. 12 years is a long wait.
