Had one in our backyard a couple days ago! That was a first time getting one in the yard and we have lived here about 30 years! Probably a young male wandering and attracted to some of the water and fruit we had in the yard. PXL_20211017_164543849~2.mp4

King size pillow cases work great too. They are super cheap, so you can either throw them away if they are really nasty or wash them and use them again. On deer hunts I can fit all of the meat from a boned out deer in one pillow case.

CBD balm or roll ons work wonders on knees. If you have not tried them you should. CBDMD is a good brand. I use their liquid tinctures for joint pains and muscle aches too. I almost never use ibuprofen now after switching to good CBD products.

Ethan pulled it off. 4pm last day of the hunt and a cow walks up on us at a new area we had good vibes about. Wanna find elk? Take a walk.. This is his last youth hunt. He’s growing up! The interaction we had with the herd was magical and it turned out that baby hoochie got em’ talking after all! Even the bull wanted to play. never had so much fun with a call.

I just wanted to put this in the air to hopefully help others learn how to help make life easier while cleaning game. We were lucky enough to get to cut up 3 cow elk over the last week. The below items were invaluable. 1. Bring a clean painter's plastic drop cloth to put the mest on. The heavy duty plastic drop cloth from Home Depot can be cut in half and used for 2 different animals. 2. BRING KNEE PADS. This was BY FAR the most helpful thing I added to my pack for comfort this season. They were worth there weight in gold. We cut up 2 elk a few years ago and my knees killed because I didn't have knee pads. 3. Shape knives. I have a couple types of traditional blades that I love, and my buddy had a Outdoor Edge replacement blade skinner that was great. I have a small Gerber replaceable blade that I don't like, it is to small. This thing felt like a knife and you could work it easily. My traditional blades are a benchmade and a Knives of Alaska. Your choice, bring good blades. 4. Good game bags. Don't cheap out get something that works. I have found I like the black ovis XL bags. They are easy to clean, have reflective strips sewn in, and are strong.

The pillow cases are good too, the zippered ones are a good idea. I like the bags I use because you can use the draw string to hang them with from a tree or what not. They are reflective too. One of the last rear quarters we had we hung in a tree and came back for it in the dark. It was super easy to spot. The headlamp made it shine.

Got drawn for the 1st general WT hunt in 33, had two locations I was tossing back and forth that hold deer. Well I went to the Redington location and it paid off. Started glassing at 0600 and by 7:15 had 3 bucks at 792 yds. Closed the distance to 438 yds and tag filled. Kind of sad that it’s over so quickly, but looking forward to WGP’s chorizo and snack sticks!!!!

As usual I agree with lance on all things except the FFP thing I won’t own another leupold vx6. Way way over priced and underperforming scope IMO. I’ve had 3 and yet to see one track properly. The night force nx8 is a dang good scope for the money. They make a SFP so that’s in my wheelhouse. Wish they made one with a simpler reticle as I don’t use subtensions and even their simplest one is a gong show. If you can save a bit more id look into a S&B Exos. It’s my current go to scope. 7x zoom so you get the benefit of 3x on the low and 21x on top. Nice size for a hunting rifle and it will not let you down on tracking. They make a real simple duplex with dot reticle that gives me wood. I got my last one as a demo on eurooptic for $2600 so not much more then an NX8 at retail. That being said my dad was just in same boat and he went with an NX8 4-32. Great scope. I’d do a 2.5-20 if it was me as 32x and nigh force glass doesn’t really work together great but it’s a dang nice scope and it’ll do what he needs it to.

Sounds like you just like nice glass… I dont see an issue, but maybe the wallet does 😂

Great, whatever works for you is all that matters! I have enjoyed 200 yard zeros on my hunting rifles knowing that there is no more than 2.4" of variance out to 250. For hunting purposes, I've avoided dialing unless I have to, but that is definitely just a personal preference. Good luck on your hunts!

This all started with my best friend and business partner Waldo wanting to take a black bear for most of his life! After my daughter Tessa had taken a giant bear a few years ago as well as myself taking a several bears in the past.... we purchased a bear hunt at a mule deer banquet put on by Terry Herndon. The hunt was offered by Travis the owner of OCHD. We made arrangements and determined we would meet in Klondyke on Thursday the day before the hunt was opening. Just a few of the honorable mentions or perks of this hunt where: 1) Travis had a big nice fifth wheel trailer for us to stay in! 2) several of Travis's close friends came just to insure our successful outcome. 3) After a GREAT dinner and a few cocktails on Thursday night we made plans on what we were going to do for opening morning! Early open morning Friday, as per our previous night of solid planning we found ourselves glassing from a great vantage point! We immediately glassed up a really nice bear. Waldo decided that the bear was worthy of his tag. After a short hike he was able to shoot and harvest his FIRST ever Arizona black bear! Waldo decided to have a life size mount recreated... in my opinion there is nobody I trust more for this special trophy than Wes with Western Taxidermy. Wes has been my go to taxidermy for many, many mounts and each and everyone of them have all turned out great! The bottom line is we would highly recommend Travis for over the top knowledge of this business as well as the excellent accommodations provided. Thanks again!

It really confirmed what I expected with regards to accuracy. I also expect the Coues buck will have the same reaction the Javelina did.

Did the results surprise you or confirm expectations between the two loads? Expecting to see the real results in a couple weeks…

Son tagged out for the 5th year in a row. Saw lots of successful kids out there, and even had one shot right in front of us. Special thanks to the folks at the ada camp in 23 for putting on a good show.

Found this buck opening morning running with 6 others equal in size with 2 others much wider! This guy walked into me at 64 yds so I took the shot! Crazy thing is he jumped the string so fast and did a 180 degree turn in the air I actually hit him on the complete opposite side I intended to, never seen anything like that before! Also have a September elk hunt in same unit and purchased Big Bo access just so I have options , anyone have recommendations on if it’s worth it or am I better off in other areas? Any info greatly appreciated.
