Tessa was able to harvest this very unique antelope after 3 days of trying. Well persistence paid off on the last morning of are New Mexico hunt with one well placed shot I was able to take a good goat on the second day. The drought sure seemed to hurt them on there horn growth this year. She will be off to chase elk on the Navajo reservation starting September 1

And when he fills his tag out in the woods hunting, and you sitting in front of your tv probaly on your mobile surfing the internet getting fat and blubbery eating taco bell, critizing!

For real though, too many tags, too many fires, too many side by sides. I'd be looking at 9, 10, 23.

This is my son-in-law and long time family friend. This kid has been chasing deer with a bow since 15 and finally connected today 10 long years later. Just 200 yds out of camp as he took off with lunch packed at first light. Lol

This is my biggest one and for my hunting partner! We both got it done I spotted a buck 2200 yards out and made the stock. He looked like he was on the property according to. My spotter watched on a high hill. Once I got to within 500 yard. I looked on OnX and he is clearly on State Land. I radioed back to my partner and told him. He said what about the buck bedded down 700 yards to my left. I ranged him and said its more like 900 yards. But looked on OnX and said oh yeah he is on property. He said can you stalk him. It was so flat and not a stupid bush. Nor was I going to take a shot with 5 mph winds at 900. Plus if I got prone he disappears. Only option was to walk strait to him. I got to 450 yards. While bedded down he had no idea I got that close up to him. Once they see you In New Mexcio a 1,000 yards out they bust out of there. No Joke!!! I couldn't go prone. It was a slight hill and grass. But sitting on my knees with the bipod all the way extend at 450 yards my shot punched him and he took 3 steps back wards and fell over. My buddy long story short he missed this buck at 150 yards. Lol! He got to a prone position and at 600 yard and he started to prance off and led him 4ft and center punched him. The best part he dropped like a sack of rocks into the grass and disappeared. Like the earth just swallowed him up

Sweet bucks! Tessa's rare goat sure is impressive. It's always great to see her accomplishments as we've sort of seen her grow up here on CWT. Tremendous photos too. It pays dividends to take your time and set everything up right, you nailed it! Congratulations to the both of you.

The rut is coming up soon. Why dont you take a weekend or 2 up there and check em out. That'll give you a decent indicator for what you truly want for next year

Anyone on here do much of this freediving style? I did some 3 prong for the first time on a recent trip to Hawaii with some young hawaiin guys that were really good and man, so much fun. I'm sure a part of it was that I was in some of the clearest water with the highest density and diversity of fish of anywhere on earth, but it would be fun to get into some here in AZ. I learned to relieve the ear pressure and be able to dive down much deeper than I previously could, maybe got to around 25 feet. The regs allow spearing for carp, buff, and talapia state wide, and Mead, Powell, Pleasant and only the northern part of Lake Mohave for Stripers. It seems like alot of times the water in alot of the lakes isn't clear enough to be able to see very far, which would obviously make it very difficult. Anyone done much of this in AZ and have any tricks, time of year, locations etc? I'm in Kingman so Mohave is the closest to me.

I believe he is trying to say that you start close. Go out a bit further....while learning and then stretch it out. Mid range 400-800 yards is a great learning place. You can learn a ton by just denting primers. I know many guys that don't do the work you are right now and will have an awesome water line at 1000 yards. FYI - probably the biggest key to long range is understanding how the environmental factors affect the POI of the bullet. Once that skill is acquired then everything starts to click. Environments will probably cause you bigger misses than any box of factory ammunition. The biggest key to learning long range is actually doing it.

With all the water and feed im guessing the animals are all pretty spread out and dont have to move around very much to fill their bellies and get a drink. I have had the archery cow hunt in there a few times but that was 10+ years ago. We were always on Elk on the north and east side of the mountain. Always had the best luck around the Nordic Center off 180 and the Herchdeffer (sp) Hills. also had good bugling near the Bear Jaw trailhead. We were also in elk near the campgorund on the south side of the peaks by the gas lines, forget what its called. Some other areas to check out would be the flatter transition areas north of Kendrick park and around the Bismark Lake trailhead on the east side of the peaks. Keep hiking and getting familar with the lay of the land. When they start talking you will have the knowledge from your scounting hikes to make it happen. good luck

The western desert units are not the highlighted units you see on your favorite social media hunting channels there are many more deer in southern/ southeast even more central Az .. go hunt it and you will see .you may get extremely lucky and have spotty success or most likely you will leave with an eye opening experience and a plate humble pie! Good luck either way .

There only one thing better than getting drawn for unit 28. And that’s not getting drawn at all. Hunted it a few times. Lack of game and way to many hunters.

No I have not. What is funny is that we think we see a lot of pressure in certain areas we hunt but when I come on here and read report, it sounds like our pressure is minimal in comparison. Like you said though, we have far less deer in these 40 units than other units in the state.

UPDATE 4-20-21 2020 fall deer aging came out today and with my deers harvest for this year we expected him to be 5-6. To our suprise he was a whopping 8 years old! Freaking insane. Explains why his teeth were just falling out. Literally! But here is another pic of him I just got back! Hopefully soon I'll get my taxidermy back. I think itll come around September-December! Which is coming super quick! Super excited!
