The call I've been waiting for came in recently. I've officially accepted a new position and promotion within my agency! I'll be a Regional Office employee, teleworking permanently from Flagstaff. I start my new position the week of October 10th. And I passed my monthly stripe screen last night at TKD, so I'm one step closer to my black belt test in October!

I grew up going to AK during the summer. age 9 - 19. Both my parents were teachers and we left the day after school was out and came home the day before school started. We stayed in Kenai because my dad figured there was someplace good to go fishing on any given day within an hours drive of Kenai. From age 10 - 14 all we did was fish. It was a good 5 year run. At 15 I started working so my fishing time took a hit. I ate so much salmon as a kid I can not eat it now as an adult. AK Halibut (IMO) is still one of the best fish to eat (Ahi tuna the other). I got spoiled. Fishing in AZ is not really any fun for me. Now I go to MX to fish in the ocean. Quality over quantity. These stories and pictures are great. They bring back a lot of great memories. Spending the month of July in AK would be a great trip.

So we got back yesterday and it was an absolute blast! Totally exceeded my expectations. We went with Alaska fishing adventures at Anglers Lodge in Sterling. The Sockeye were going nuts the last two days we were there cause they closed down the commercial guys. Non stop action and the ocean fishing was outstanding. First box of fish got here this a.m. the rest of it on the 10th. The weather was excellent, didn't get rained on once. Also got to experience a tsunami evacuation in Seward - not so much fun at midnight after a long day fishing lol. It really was a great trip! I'll definitely be going back and the folks and guides at Anglers were all top notch. Great atmosphere to! Here's some pics

Heading to 22N tonight. I've got ten days of outdoor bliss ahead of me. Thought I'd just spend tomorrow with last minute scouting and practice.

Well I wanted to post some pics from Alaska but most are jacked up and sideways, going to need to edit them with something on my computer first I guess.

Harris Automotive on Old Linden took care of me when I lost a pulley and radiator on an elk hunt one time.

I saw a ton of grass along the shoulder of HWY 95 between Yuma and Quartzsite last week. HWY 95 is notorious for deer being hit. All I could think about was how many would get hit this season fall feeding along the road. Hopefully the desert being green keeps them off the road. This was a buck that just got hit a couple weeks ago.

I've used Danners, Rockies, Crispi Valdres, Lowa Zephyrs, Solomon GTX 4, and have a pair of Tibets on the way. Out of the box, the Solomons are my favorite, but I did 50ish miles packing last year and the sole almost felt too soft and I could feel the rocks underneath with a heavy load. They also don't last me very long. I liked the Valdres and Lowas, but a good soaking shrank both significantly. The Rockies take forever to break in, and the longevity is hit and miss, but once they are broke in, they are great. I was looking between the Tibets and Nevadas, but decided to go with something more heavy duty and went with Tibets.

One year of summer rain won’t end our drought. We need rain, and a hellacious snowpack this winter throughout their Rockies and AZ to fill our reservoirs . It will help our forests for sure, if the state doesn’t wash into Mexico after all the fire damage.

I wish I was ready/able to slow it down.

Thanks, ever consider a career as a motivational speaker? Unfortunately, I believe you are likely correct though. But hey, a kid can dream! At least we are all in this together! Happy Hunting!

I see it as the same as operating an aircraft. Game and Fish only has so much jurisdiction. Its not like you can't fly an airplane over Arizona during a hunt, but you better not be talking to anybody on the ground. Same crap with this camera nonsense. Might not want to use it for hunting but there is nothing stopping anybody from still using a camera in the forest or wherever if you aren't using it for "take".

Still legal here and will be until all of the land management agencies weigh in on photography on their lands. Game and Fish only has jurisdiction on take so there will always be cams on the landscape. If anyone believes they are going to all of a sudden disappear because of the dumb new rule for 2022, I got some Ocean Front Property for you, right here in Yuma!!!

I'm back in Yuma now. It was one of the best vacations I have ever been on, and I have had some great trips! I know where I will be spending about a month a year when I retire, that's for sure!

This lady right here showed me and her Dad how it was done. The beer I was drinking was a Kenai Brewing Grateful Red, local red beer perfect for catching "red" salmon. The whole trip was just unreal and so much fun! If you guys are ever looking for a guide on the Kenai, Jason Lesmeister is a bad butt! He is professional, competitive, fun to fish and talk smack with, had great gear, and got us tuned up in no time flat!

Awesome hunt. Some giant bucks, but the deer are really pockety. It could be cool and clear, rainy, windy or snow. All of it its possible, or all 4.
